Avoid my mistake 6/2/2011

I had problems with Rush as soon as I joined. They are very misleading. There is very quick turnaround with the staff. When I would discuss issues I was having, the answer would change depending on which staff member I was talking to. When I approached the manager, it was obvious that misleading and deceptive answers are a system-wide issue. more

child care at walker springs 12/13/2010

Ok, some one tell me what LAW says that a child can not be watched for more than an hour and a half!!! I went to the Rush at Walker Springs today and took my four year old. On the way there he was excited because I told him he could do push ups, sit ups and jump n jacks with daddy at the gyme then go play. Well little did I know that he HAS TO BE checked in to kid care immediately upon arrival, and they wouldn't allow him past the counter or even allow me to do exercises with him in the lobby. So, he was a little disappionted. I went to check him in and apparently the english language is not a must to supervise kids. The Lady there speak broken english in an asian dialect. After five minutes of trying to understand this lady, I try to go work out, but was called back to fill out more paperwork that I have already filled out at the other Rushs I go to. So 10 mins after checking him in, I get to go change into gym clothes and start my workout knowing that I only have an hour and 15 minutes left. After a quick workout, which is for me is a little more than an hour and that is without doing the normal 30 minutes of cardio, i head to the showers. While I am drying and dressing they start calling my name to come to Kid Care. When I get there they say I am 5 minutes late and make me sign a blank piece of paper. I ask them why, and they say "It is against the law to watch your child for more than an hour and a half." So I peacefully scribble my name and leave. If anyone knows where I can find this LAW, I would love to research it. I think Kid Care should go back to 2 hrs, so the parents have time to do there full workout and shower!!! more

Misleading and Pushy 5/24/2010

I joined the rush when the gym I was a member of went under. They were very pushy when I went in to use a trial membership, and outright lied about the terms. I was aware that I would be moving out of state soon, but the employee who was signing me up assured me that he could waive the $99 termination fee. Now the time has come, and they have told me that the guy was fired for making promises like that, but that they are unwilling to help me. I also received constant phone calls (one a week) from the company even after I had already joined saying that they had seen I'd been on the website within the last 3 months and wondering if I am still interested in joining. I also received several phone calls asking if I had taken advantage of their free hour of personal training- long after I'd already done so. The company policies are pushy and misleading. The setup of the gym itself is mediocre, and they don't let you go to locations other than the one that you signed up with. more

Do people really come here to workout 11/3/2005

I was a member of The Rush for about two years. I was actually there before the first real gym opened. It was just one small room near Toy's R Us. I agree that The Rush has nice equipment, but it's not for me. I have often seen many people there who seem to be there just to "look" around at others, not really to work out. I hated that the management changed the fees around all the time and people were getting different deals all over the place. I like a place that has a set fee schedule. The Rush did not seem family oriented to me. I took my six year old neice with me once. She needed to use the restroom before the child care area opened. She was not allowed to go into the women's lockeroom with me. Apparently it's adults only. This struck me as odd. I also didn't like that there was no time for families to enjoy the indoor pool area. The Rush has nice equipment and convenient hours, but it's not the kind of atmosphere I enjoy. more

Great place to work out anytime! 10/7/2005

I love the RUSH! They are so helpful when it comes to answering questions about fitness. There is a huge Cardio area with an assortment of machines. You can choose from treadmills, elliptical trainers, stationary bikes, rowing machines,, and more! If cardio machines aren't your thing, they have a basketball court, indoor lap pool, and a Jump Shot game with a trampoline and basketball goals. It's a great way to get your heart rate up and not feel like you are working out at all! If classes are more for you, they have those too! You can take yoga, pilates, spinning, abs classes, sculpting classes, aerobics classes, and circuit training classes to name a few. Once you are done with your cardio, you can head over to the strength training area. They have a huge assortment of weight machines to choose from, as well as free weights. The locker rooms are very spacious and clean. You can shower and change before heading out. Be sure to check out their smoothie bar before you leave to keep your energy up! more
