We were having a horrible catastrophe with our plumbing right before the first predicted blizzard of 2015. We were getting a backup of sewage into our sinks in the basement and our bathtub. We have 5 people living in the home-two be elderly, including my mother who has dementia. Believe it or not, we had the flu at that time and could not use the toilet. It was very stressful with everyone being sick and this plumbing issue happening at the same time. I contacted Roto Rooter the night before the blizzard, by computer to request an appt for the next day. They came by early afternoon. The first worker came with an 85 ft snake, but could not completely clear the tree roots and clog. He saw my anxiety and tried to contact the team that could send out a jet stream power machine, which could reach 135 ft to flush the pipes. He stayed for an extra 1/2 just to make sure the jet stream machine team would come before the storm got worse. It had already started to snow heavily, so this was a sacrifice on their part. I did not get charged for the first attempt to clear the pipes, because that is the policy of Roto Rooter to not charge if they can not fix the problem. \r With the pipes being old, the jet stream team reduced the pressure of the machine to protect the pipes from breaking. We were given a 6 month guarantee that if the problem was not properly fixed, they would come back free of charge. All in all, my experience with all the workers has been very amazing in this day and age, when good service is hard to find. They tried to work with us in every way, including coming back free of charge to check a separate issue having to do with a fill valve problem with our toilet. I would recommened Roto Rooter for their professionalism, team effort, quality of machinery, warranty on the work done, and levels of service to make the job more efficient. Had a problem with my relatively new water heater - pilot light would not start at all. Called Roto Rooter and had a 2-hour window appointment. Received a call back and was told technician would arrive in 20min, which he did. Technician very experienced, quickly diagnosed cause to be a defective thermocouple, a very common problem for my water heater. Informed me the estimate upfront and discount coupon is available at their website (wasn't aware until he told me), which I promptly printed it out. Within 15min, he fixed the problem as expected. Nice job! Even though it was on the expensive side for such a short job, it was still in line with another estimate i received from another plumber. Satfsfied customer overall. more

Despite my initial concerns regarding the price and quality of hiring a national service, we received excellent service from Roto-Rooter of Stamford. We recently had a plumbing emergency on a weekend. Roto-rooter sent one of their techs, Louis (#2661) to the rescue. He was extremely courteous and did solid work to make sure our issue was resolved permanently. Thanks! more

Needed someone fast to clear downspout getting water into the basement. Good news: Stamford sent a plumber fast. Bad News: he wanted to charge me an arm and a leg. First he told me he couldn't get on the roof, then that it would cost me $1300 for him to get on the roof. Then he said he could use a pressure hose from the ground, which would cost $800. I ended up paying $450. Pricing seemed completely arbitrary and based on what I was willing to pay under emergency conditions during a torrential multi-day downpour. more

We had a major septic system backup which I cannot describe how disgusting it was! John Cronin (#5938) responded quickly and worked with our general contractor to locate a cleanout. Unfortunately, it was under the house in a very narrow crawl space. John eventually maneuvered himself into the crawl space and successfully snaked out the blockage. Unfortunately, it caused quite a mess under the house. John was kind enough to help with the cleanup! What a great guy, and we wouldn't hesitate to use him again. Congratulations to Roto-Rooter for hiring such a competent and friendly employee! more

I completed two jobs with roto- rooter. Both times, I worked with Louis (#2661), who is friendly, neat and helpful. I live in the Newfield section of Stamford. Their dispatch was ""off"" on the arrival time for the first job. Louis went out of his way to bid on (the second job,) and came back with a competitive bid. There was a minor glitch with the hot water heater. But, this turned out to be my electrician's fault. Again, however, the dispatch sent the wrong type of technician initially and was ""off"" on the times. The best way to communicate is directly through the professional, not the dispatch.
