The staff was really nice, and the atmosphere was very comfortable; however, the food was horrible. My wife and I tried several different meals and none of them were remotely appetizing. The Po Boys were bland, the sauteed alligator was nothing but garlic salt and more salt, and even something as simple as a Bananas Foster was poorly prepared. They've also been out of crawfish for the past 2 months. I really wanted to like Rosey Baby since I absolutely love cajun cuisine. This experience though, was a low point in our Florida dining. more

Been eating here for over 10 years. It was never a great restauant, but it was always reliable for decent food. Also, a good spot to bring visiting relatives for Something different". Perhaps the closest you'd find in South Florida for authentic New Orleans style........but also above average on staples like burgers and wings.\r Things have changed...and at this point I have to advise...STAY AWAY...it's not worth the trip. \r They've changed their menu. Gone is the really good French Onion Soup. Gone. The burgers are now the standard frozen patties. Red Beans and Rice...also GONE with the winds of the recession, and poor decisions by the owners. On the bright side, gone also are the crowds. The place was never overly crowded, but I just got back from my last dinner there, on a Tuesday in the prime Christmas-New Years. Two tables occupied at 7PM. Nobody in the bar area. \r Tonight, my last night ever eating there....I started with the now imaginary French Onion Soup. It's now just a memory. But then I was quickly served the Fried Shrimp. Always reliable, if not great. Tonight....a day too old with no flavor. Overcooked to boot. Accompanied with the now imaginary Red Beans and Rice...tonite it was potato salad....and that was less than ordinary.\r Bottom-line..if you're in the area and it's just 5-10 minutes away.....go elsewhere. This place was ok to good, and now it's average to mediocre. Of course, if you're more than 10 minutes away, don't even consider it. Sorry to see a place that was once good now fallen on hard times. It will probably be gone by the time you read this review. more

I made the trek to Ft. Lauderdale looking for good creole food. Unfortunately,Rosey baby is a complete disappointment. When you firt enter, you encounter a bar where smoking is allowed. How this is allowed in a restaurant these days is beyond me. The smoke smell permeated the entire restaurant. I ordered an appetizer of fried crawfish legs. The portion was small and the best thing I could say about it was the sauce. We then ordered dinner, crawfish etoufee and red beans and sausage. Each had a small sampling of catfish nuggets (which actually weren't too bad). Both were basically the same rice recipe, one with crawfish and the other with sausage. I found three small pieces of sausage in my order, and a few red beans mixed up in large bowl of seasoned rice. The price, $14.95 for the crawfish and $12.95 for the sausage and beans. Needless to say, it was hardly worth the price. I've made better with a box of seasoned cajun rice with a little hot sauce. My wife ordered the hurricane drink. If you were expecting Pat O'briens, forget it. While we were there, a band was setting up for a 9:30 gig. Most people come here to drink, smoke, and watch a band. But if you are looking for authentic New Orleans food, forget it here. more

My wife and I drove up to Rosey Baby's on the suggestion of some friends. We had high hopes, and were anticipating a really nice experience.\r \r Let me preface what I say next by pointing out that I suffer from serious asthma attacks when exposed to smoke, and the Florida indoor smoking ban for restaurants has had an incredible impact on my life to allow me to experience restaurants that I once couldn't (visiting Vegas is a certain form of hell for me).\r \r So, we entered Rosey Baby's and were assaulted with the heavy smell of cigarette smoke. I couldn't even chance trying to stay in there. It's a shame, because I hear they have great food. I called the restaurant later and they explained that they allow smoking at the bar only... but it's a single room restaurant in a strip mall... that bar is the same as the restaurant, with no physical separation. I told the manager that we really wanted to eat there, but that with the smoke it was just impossible for me. The only response I got is that it may have seemed "smokier than usual because of the super bowl party yesterday."\r \r This is the second restaurant we've visited this week that is more-than-bending the law on this issue. I'm wondering if restaurants wanting for clients are breaking the law to turn a blind eye. It's definitely a disturbing trend for me. more

I'm not sure what this last critic is thinking?...My wife and I been loyal customers for more than 14 years and have invited new diners for all those years. The dinner menu has a variety of choices...The sizzling Mushrooms are one of my favorites and of course the now World Famous Craw Fish in a bucket. Of course, you can't beat the live entertainment!!!!\r \r I hope more people read this and enjoy the service and many choices on the menu to enjoy.\r \r Adam and Rosie more

overspiced and inedible 12/6/2008

This was our first time eating here. The restaurant had a bar atmosphere with karaoke (saturday night). The service was friendly and slow. There were 3 of us total so I will give a run down off all our meals. Our appetizers were pretty awful which should have forewarned for the dinner entrees...There was no seafood to be found in the crab and shrimp jalepeno poppers. The rice was extremely over cooked in the red beans and rice. The etouffee was was spiced with something overpowering and strange which made it inedible (they were nice enough to remove it from the bill even after we insisted on paying). The muffeletta was covered in minced garlic. Finally, the ribs were on special and they were very good as were the fried potato slices. Pros: lots of parking, friendly service Cons: food was awful more

I only ate there once. The food was okay, but I thought it was very expensive for the amount of food you got. Plus, they were slow. My friend and I were hungry so we ordered chips and salsa. We were the only two people in the restaurant. How hard is it to put salsa in a dish and put the chips in a basket? We waited at least 10-15 min. for the chips. When we got the food, my friend and I looked at each other at the portions they give you. We were glad we ordered the chips, or we would have left hungry. I ordered something with red beans and rice. Popeyes red beans and rice was just as good and 1/10th the price. I'll never go back there again. more

It's all new, it's all good 11/16/2005

Check out 'The Babe' now! It is newly expanded with dance floor, more room and tables. It has not lost that intimate New Orleans feel and the menu has new items and is delectable. And, no more smokiness! 2 years in a row they have been awarded a place in the top 500 restaurants in Florida by Robert Tolf and the Golden Spoon Awards. Rolling Stone included them in their Anniversary Issue for their music. And yes, everyone will know your name, what you drink and your favorite menu item...They boil up live Louisiana crawfish that will kick your taste buds. If you work or live close enough they are delivering lunch to your door now. Thank you to the two people whose reviews turned me on to this fabulously fun and yummy place. Pros: Food, Music, Value Cons: Dance Floor small, no reservations more

Cajun, Florida style 10/10/2002

Great food, reasonable pricing (definitely check out the specials). At times it can get cramped and a little too smoky (on weekends when the bands are playing) but during the week it's a great place for lunch or dinner (a hidden gem if you ask me). Get yourself some real cajun and live crawfish (awesome) in season. Pros: Great Food, Friendly Staff, Good Music Cons: Sometimes Smoky, Crowded Weekends more

nice small place 8/11/2002

nice small place with a friendly staff but cramped for eating dinner. I wish they had a bigger dining area. Pros: Cajun Cons: Cramped more
