The food was NASTY!!!! The service was poor... \r \r I went for birthday celebration. Waiter didn't even say happy birthday, even after husband stated we were trying their spot for the first time for my very special day. \r \r I will let the Concierge at the Westin Riverwalk hotel know how disappointed we were. This place had the nerve to serve me a water down margarita. And oh, the waiter barely came back to check on us.\r \r Whatever!!! We won't return, and please believe I will put the word out.. Not very pretty inside and way too loud. I wouldn't bring guests from out of town here. It's okay if you like the canteen atmosphere. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/23/2012

Fun place for dinner, great salsa, a little loud, but they have the wine cellar open now for quieter dinners, try the shrimp tacos or the mole. Their chocolate flan is the best in town. more

good food/too loud 9/18/2011

The food is very good, the prices are a little high for Mexican food. It is a bit loud with poor acoustics. A fun place to take out of town guests. Recommended. more

don't waste your time 8/8/2011

The food was so-so the service was bad. Do not waste your time, honestly. more

Very dissatisfied 10/28/2010

We made reservations Saturday afternoon for Saturday evening for 18 people at 8:30 P.M. We arrived at 8:15 P.M. and had to wait 1 hour to be seated. This made us look but with the other members of the party. Some even had to leave because they had to travel back to Austin. more

Not impressed 2/7/2010

After reading reviews, I went to Rosario's. It was overrated. The enchiladas were only so-so. Will continue to look for a decent cheese enchilada. Otherwise, the service and decor were fine. Cons: mediocre enchiladas more

Great Roasted Salsa! 9/12/2009

Have been to Rosarios several times and haven't been disappointed. If you haven't figured it out yet, I think they have about the best fire-roasted salsa in ""Tex-Mex City, USA"" (aka, San Antonio), which is quite an accomplishment. The other great thing about Rosarios is that you can eat, drink and dance without leaving the place - nice to be able to make a night of it in the same establishment. Highly recommended. Pros: Good chips, good marg's, great fire-roasted salsa Cons: Parking, but no complaints once inside! more

Seriously, Don't Wait 9/7/2009

First I called to ask if I needed reservations. Answer was an abrupt ""NO"" and then he hung up on me. So we show up and ask for a table, granted on First Friday. The hostess says thirty minute wait for a table for two. An hour and fifteen minutes later, we are lead to ""The Cave."" It's a basement with a few tables. It smells musty and quite disgusting. I ask the hostess if she's joking. She smirks and asks if we want to wait longer? Seriously who thought it was a good idea to have tables down in the basement. Voices echo, so dont try having a private conversation. The only good thing about being seated downstairs was the attentive waiter. I think he felt sorry for the unlucky bunch of us stashed down there like unwanted guests. To top it off, the food was not worth the wait. Pros: Southtown Location is hip Cons: So so food is not worth the wait. more

Great Atmosphere and Food! 9/5/2009

Rosario's is a great Mexican restaurant! The atmosphere is festive and colorful, and the food is always excellent. They have GREAT margaritas and I love the smoky flavor of their salsa. I would definitely recommend this place - a San Antonio classic! Pros: Best Salsa in town! more

Best Mexican Restaurant in San Antonio 9/3/2009

Rosarios is by far my favorite mexican restaurant in San Antonio. I recently discovered the Enchiladas de Espinacas and have ordered them every visit since...won't find anything like this anywhere else! This place is usually very busy on the weekends so be prepared to wait for a table but there is nothing like a cold Sangria Margarita to help pass the time. If you are able to go on a Friday...do! The music is always enjoyable! Overall Rosarios offers great food, drinks, music and service. If you are visiting San Antonio and looking for a great place to dine, this place is a must! Pros: Service, food, margaritas, music more

Fun, food and drinks ! 9/2/2009

This place is great if you are looking for great food, fabulous drinks, and exciting entertainment. Rosarios is a great place for the family to have a great time. This is a must stop place on first fridays. The food is aways great and the staff is very friendly. Pros: awesome margaritas more

Best Enchiladas Suizas 9/1/2009

Oh my God, I brought ny friend from Denver to Rosarios and she could not get enough of the variety of great food. I recommended the Enchiladas Suizas and we both ordered an extra plate to go, yes it was that good. A must try. Pros: Great food and atmosphere more

the only place i go to for mexican food 9/1/2009

with its exciting atmosphere and quick service, rosario's is the one restaurant that we're sure to bring people that come to visit. it has the best salsa in town, consistently good cocktails and food that never disappoints. while the menu tempts otherwise, i rarely stray from the ""enchiladas suizas"" with its lightly sweet white wine cream sauce. it's my absolute favorite restaurant in san antonio. Pros: where do i begin? Cons: no vegetarian beans more

Best Mexican Food in town!! 9/1/2009

I use to work at a downtown hotel for over five years, and have always recommended that anyone new to town must experience the great food, service and atmosphere. This is the only place I would drive to the end of the earth for in order to get great margaritas, great chips and salsa and great food...Enchiladas are to die for!!! Pros: Awesome Margaritas, best food ever!!! Cons: None!! more

good food bad dining room 8/10/2009

We've been going to Rosario's for more years than they have been at the current location and even make the effort each time we visit San Antonio since we moved away a few years ago. This last time we went for dinner on two different nights. The first night was great a Tuesday - we got seated right away and enjoyed the Lisa's special (our off-menu favorite) and margaritas with good service. We enjoyed the ambiance sitting by the floor to ceiling windows and open dining area. The 2nd night a Friday (and First Friday to boot) we expected a wait and that was fine with us so long as we were eating at Rosario's! But when we were lead toward a door I had never noticed before which had a narrow, spiraled stairway that lead down into a VERY small low ceiling-ed room that held only 6-8 tables & obviously no windows I was baffled! One table was pushed up against a side wall and used as a make-shift waiter station where things were not kept tidy and the table cloth did not hide the dirty dishes that were stored underneath. The food was still good but suddenly not spectacular and I would not have gone to Rosario's if I had any idea I would be eating in the ugly step-child dining room which incidentally was right underneath the stage where the band played. I normally, highly recommend Rosario's to visitors for the ambiance and beauty but I would never suggest anyone go there if there is a chance they will be lead into the dungeon dining room! The servers were either always right on top of us and yet the service still wasn't great or were no where to be found (unless we treked up the stairs to find them!). About 6 times different individuals came down thinking they were going to find a restroom which actually is upstairs on the main floor. This unfortunate night will make me think twice about renewing my 13 year love of Rosario's next time I want dinner on a busy night in SA. Pros: food Cons: awful basement dining room! :( more

A disappointing dinner at best 11/28/2008

After reading multiple shining reviews on Rosario's, I was greatly disappointed with my dining experience. I will say the Handshake margaritas were lovely...fresh and not overly sweet or tangy. The chips - which should be a ""gimme"" in a mexican restaurant - were stale. The salsa was overly smoky for my taste though for a chipotle lover might be enjoyable. An order of guacamole and ""homemade"" tostadas proved to be little more than a mashed avocado with more stale chips. As for the food...having heard the tag line ""fish tacos you must eat before you die"", we ordered them...and were quite surprised that they had absolutely NO flavor. Not even salt and salsa helped. The grilled beef tacos (almost a quesadilla) were much better but still not earth shattering. The service also left a lot to be desired - from the moment we arrived we felt like we were being rushed out the door. Pros: Good margaritas & an eclectic atmosphere Cons: Average Food & poor service more

Great food-great entertainment 9/14/2008

We travel 800 miles 2 times a year just to go here. We love it. The food is awesome and the enterainment on Friday's is wonderful. The band Geno plays their own twist to songs from Mana', Santana, etc. Rosairo's has it going on with Geno! more

Best Mexican in SA 5/4/2008

This restaurant is our favorite Mexican place in town. It has a great location, great salsa, and its one of the few places in town that offers Pollo con Mole and that dish alone is worth the trip. We are also fans of the quesadilla with potatoes and chorizo and the chorizo flameado. I can only guess as to why but there have been no female servers at Rosarios in the 3 years that we have been going and the ladies at the door are generally wearing something tight, low-cut, and lycra. Overall the service is inconsistent at best, never awful, never awesome and don't expect friendly happy service except for the the generally pleasant females at the door. Pros: ambience, food, location Cons: service is sometimes spotty and it gets really loud inside more

Best Mexican Food and Margaritas!!! 3/29/2008

I have been going to Rosario's since they were at the old location down the street and it has NEVER dissapointed me!! It is a true staple in the Southtown area and way better than anything you would ever find on the river. Some of my favorites are the ceviche (always fresh and tasty) , callejero tacos and enchiladas suaves. The margaritas are awesome as well, the tuna margarita and the mexican handshake are great. The service is always top notch, Gonzalo is our favorite waiter, he always remembers our names and what we like to eat. It can get pretty loud on the weekends if you go late when the bands are playing but if you want quiet the back room is the place to sit. Definatley the best mexican food in the city!! Pros: Awesome food and Margaritas Cons: It is always busy more
