Best

You can't go wrong here. Take a coat though, it gets a bit chilly at the top when it's raining. There are no words to discribe the beauty.

My Favorite Place in the World 8/1/2005

I've been coming to Estes Park and the RMNP for years! I'll make a few quick suggestions. Check out the YMCA of the Rockies. If you can get a cabin or a lodge room there, there are many great services included. They offer many guided hikes ranging from half mile bird watching hikes to 15 mile ""14er"" hikes! They also have many concerts, shows, classes, bike rentals, sports equipment, arts and crafts and much more! They even have a day camp for all ages of kids. If you hike (which you should), be sure to check out The Loch, Ouzel Falls, and Bear lake. If you have time to hike up to Lake of Glass and Sky Pond (up the trail a few miles from The Loch) do it! Lastly, spend time in the town of Estes Park. There are a ton of great shops, amazing restaurants, fabulous people! Pros: beautiful views, lots to do, affordable fun Cons: parking more

beautiful 7/22/2005

everything is so beautiful in estes park. went in july and loved escaping the texas heat!! I never wanted to leave. I recommend it to everyone. the views are breathtaking. more

Spectacular Rockies experience 5/13/2005

Go in September! Take a chair, a picnic basket and your camera late in the afternoon, leave from Estes Park and sit with everyone else to watch and listen to the elk bugle. You will love Estes Park - don't miss a guided tour of the Stanley Hotel, drive the Trail Ridge Road, and stop often just to wow at the views. We went the second week of September and it snowed and closed the road on the 14th! Take warm clothes and be aware of the altitude! Pros: Scenic, Good roads, Wildlife more

Winter in June 11/18/2004

My boyfriend and I camped in the park for two nights during a month-long trip across the country. We had a great time, and the scenery was surreal. Indescribable. However, my only suggestion (warning?) is that you bring tons of warm clothing and blankets if you plan on spending the night. Temperatures dropped to the 20's both nights we were there. We were unprepared, and we paid for it. more

Pure Beauty 4/15/2004

RMNP is the most wonderful place in Colorado...you can go hiking, fishing, horseback riding, take a picnic, camp and even shop (at the top of Fall River Road). There is so much wonderful history to this amazing place. I have been coming to Estes Park and RMNP for the last 24 years and it is my home-away-from home. I highly reccommend taking the drive down into Great Lake and eating at the lodge. In a word, AWESOME! more

Rating from a Native 10/3/2003

I have lived in Colorado all my life and RMNP is the best place here. If you want to hear elk bugle, go in September and find Never Summer Ranch. Its the best place to go. Beware of Trail Ridge Road, its closed most of the year because of snow, so only go up it in Summer time, or you may have a hard time getting out. Very hard to see and very slick. Other than that, the place is great. Estes has excellent shopping, and near by is the Stanley Hotel, the one in the Shining, and where Steven King wrote the book at. Bring warm clothes year round, as it can be quite cool even in summer. more

Well worth the drive!! 6/17/2003

My wife and I drove through the park in July of 2001. The views are amazing, plus there is plenty of wildlife that can be seen from the road. Pros: Beautiful views, Alot of wildlife Cons: Not many restrooms more

Bear Lake is a ""Must See"" in CO! 9/30/2002

I spent a relaxing afternoon at Bear Lake last summer. Despite the crowded pathway, the view was spectacular and bird-watching was delightful. Be sure to take plenty of time for periodic stops, as the altitude is literally breathtaking! Pros: shuttle system, natural beauty, birdwatching more

Beat the crowds 9/26/2002

Forget going to RMNP in the summer--too many tourists! The best time to go is during the week in September or May. You feel like you have the whole place to yourself! If you go in the early morning or evening, you can catch the elk herds and hear the bulls bugling, maybe even catch a free fight! The hike to Alberta Falls is easy and gorgeous. PS If you take your dog, don't let it off its leash! Pros: gorgeous drive, hiking for all levels Cons: Summer tourists more

Breathtaking Beauty 9/18/2002

A drive through Rocky Mountain National park is a must for any visitor - it is what Colorado is all about. There are plenty of spots to view wildlife, several great places to hike, and some fabulous picture opportunities. If you come in the summer, be sure to take the Fall River Road - it is secluded and gives you more chances to spot moose and elk. This is well worth the entrance fee that helps keep this park beautiful for all. Pros: Natural beauty, wildlife, clean facilities more

are the elk in a rut? 9/16/2002

One of the most spectacular view in nature is observing the elk during the rut. the sound of bugling will send chills up your spine. Pros: great views Cons: very crowed, buses would help more

Heaven on earth.. 9/8/2002

This is by far one of the most beautiful places in the country. Elk, Big Horn Sheep, friendly squirrels and chimpmunks are common sites in the park and even on lawns in Estes Park. Great shopping in Estes Park! The views of snowcapped peaks are breathtaking. This is one of my favorite places on earth. Pros: Nature at it's best, Restaurants, Shopping more

My Favorite Respite--Outstanding Color 9/4/2002

The Park has so many things to enjoy, it would take many visits thru ones lifetime to see even part of the park. The reason I like it, is there are even parts of the park that a handicapped person can find solitude, just to enjoy the scenery and animals. Pros: Inexpensive, now provide buses, More for handicapped Cons: Parking, trails 4 handicapped more

Purely Colorado 8/20/2002

You can see breweries, theme parks and professional sports in most every state-but Rocky Mountain National Park is purely Colorado! Amazing skylines, beautiful scenery and nature in its prime is why people who live here love it-and why people who visit Colorado want to move here! more

Best way to impress guests 8/17/2002

Taking the Peak-to-Peak highway to Estes Park and then driving into RMNP and over Trail Ridge Road is a drive that will impress anyone. Try to do this on a weekday to get the best conditions. Pros: beautiful scenery, wild animals Cons: can be crowded more

Cool park, lots to do, great scenery 8/8/2002

Rocky Mountain National is one of the best parks of the Rocky Mountain region. It's close to civilization for all those needs and wants and places to stay but still far enough away from any big city. Beautiful scenery, great wildlife, good park services, and lots of different things to do. All this and only 60-90 minutes from Denver. Just outside is scenic town of Estes Park - another great Colorado attraction. RMNP is a great alternative to the bigger parks in Wyoming and much easier to get to. Pros: Inexpensive, Not Crowded, Great Location more

Essential Colorado 7/25/2002

When I was a kid, my family drove over a thousand miles to vacation here. Now I live less than two hours away and try to get to the park a couple times a year. Pros: proximity to Denver, spectacular beauty, wildlife Cons: tourists! more

Heaven 7/24/2002

This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. more

Lots of Granite 7/23/2002

Nothing else in Colorado beats Rock Mountian National Park. The perfect distance to get away from Denver whether for a whole day or just an afternoon. Pros: Fresh Air, Close Cons: On Fire more
