Patient came in for refill on meds that had been stolen or lost, police report case number was provided. Dr. told the patient that he did not believe their story of pain even though this patient had been a chronic pain patient for over two years. NO EXAM WAS PERFORMED ON THE PATIENT. Dr*g was a controlled substance. Dr. Stewart wrote the prescription, handed it to the patient after interrogating them and saying, he ""did not believe their story of pain, he had treated many patients before. Their MRI looked fairly good and there should been reason for the complaint of pain. He believed the patient was in denial of their substance abuse problem."" While leaving the room and handing the patient their script, he told them to, ""Have a nice RIDE and he would send them a letter.""\r

Patient had complained to office manager. Office manager sided with physicain stating that the patient had broken the pain management contract written up a week before by visiting Urgent Cares and ERs after the contract was written. No ER or Urgent Care facilities were visited after the pain managemnt contract was in effect.\r
\r
The main points being:\r
\r
A controlled substance was given to a patient who was suspected of having an addiction problem.\r
The physicain was cold, rude and insensitive to the patient's pain issues.\r
The management lied about breaking the pain management contract.\r
\r
Patient was in obvious despair after leaving the office, calling on a long time counselor for help.
