Dr Powers is a very misunderstood vet. No he is not mr. personality but he refused to put down a dog that my neighbors wanted to get rid of just because the dog was old. I took ownership of the dog and that's how I met Dr. Powers. I also have a diabetic dog that needed to be regulated and his instructions were very clear. I didn't appreciate that until I met a vet with 9 good reviews that was all over the place with my pugs insulin. When it comes to regulating this disease, you have to be consistent. You cant give 3 units here and later on give 5 units in the same day. Last but not least, I had two cats that got attacked by Ferrell cats. They both had holes in their sides that was about 3 inches wide and 3 inches long that got infected and abscessed over night. He did emergency surgery on both cats. Neither one of them have scars. He is the best cutter that I have ever seen, it was a clean job. With all the hurdles and challenges I have in life, at least I don't have to worry about my animals when they are in a crises. I wasn't aware that I felt this way and took it for granted and I give him 5 stars for being great in surgery, good with a diabetic crises. The communication wasn't always great but I have had great communication with vets that made life threatening decisions for my pets. Confidence is not an act, it comes from knowing and vets like this have a certain mannerism that I always look for, because you know that they know that they know and for the most part they are silent and people of few words. As for money, I haven't met a vet yet with low prices. So you can pay the good cutter and the one that can handle a crises or you give your money to a vet that doesnt have good judgement and doesnt know what test to order. So lets say your dogs get into something and they have profuse vomiting and diarreah with blood. An experience vet will not tell you what he thinks but he will have a good idea what to test for. Chemicals, food poisioning, plants, etc. The sooner the vet can put 2 and 2 together, the better outcome you have when it comes to toxins and poisons. I never understood people who judge the medical profession based on personality. I would have to say that you are missing out altogether and you want know until you have a crises with your pet. Even at that, some people are the last to know if they ever know at all. more

I have been going to this Clinic for the past 11 years with my dog. When Dr. Hartley owned this clinic he always explained things very well. He was not the cheapest vet in town but his service was fantastic. that has all changed since Dr. Powers has taken over. I took my dog there three days ago as he had blood building up in his ear from an apparent infection of some sort. I was given two options one to drain the ear for $300 which is not guaranteed and a surgery option for $600. Both were explained poorly but it was obvious that the tech and the Doctor were pushing for the surgery. After paying the exam fee I went to another vet that came recommended and paid another exam fee. The vet gave similar options but explained them better and wanted what was best for my dog. I went with the draining option and it worked and I paid $190 and received better service. If the Draining does not work we will have to do surgery which will cost $315. I would suggest looking at other vets and stay awa more

Worst experience of my life at a vet..Horrible Vet - Go Elsewhere! The worst! stay away! All animal lovers please be aware that just because someone advertises, and puts together a good PR campaign with a slick web site, facebook, groupons, ect, that says they are cutting edge or even remotely caring, BEWARE! This clinic looks nice on the outside, but once you past the pretty facade you'll encounter a rude Staff and Vet! In today's competitive environment, particularly given the focus on service, it is impossible to believe that the employees and Veterinarian at Rocky Creek Animal Hospital can treat their customers the way that they do! He has rude and unprofessional staff and the customer service is highly lacking. Dr. Powers is the most uneducated vet I have ever met, I found his communication lousy, he offered me no advice or diagnosis for my pet. He didn't even introduce himself to us, no smiles, no eye contact when he first walked in the room. Dr. Powers is a poor and sad example of a business owner; condescending, rude, arrogant, and unsympathetic. He doesn't understand that such attitude will not gain business. Another thing unless you want to pay very high prices DON'T GO THERE! They went way over their already overpriced estimate. My instincts said don't go there, but I did anyway and boy, am I ever sorry. Hang on to your wallet and your panties - they'll take it all! I was quoted a range of prices then charged well beyond the high end - I even had it in writing. He loves to charge for all these tests but doesn't offer any real solutions. All this vet cares money and not the well-being of animals. I will never walk thru those doors again. And I am telling all my friends with dogs and cats to stay away. My dog is family and I am happy to pay to keep him healthy and happy, but this was ridiculous. I wish I would have done more research before making an appointment - I attend a lot of dog events and as I asked around I found many others with the same bad experience. This doctor likes to get rich off of suckers like me. Lesson learned. If you like being treated rudely by the doctor and his staff this is the place for you! But I think if your pet has something complicated or serious this clinic should be avoided. Hope my experience spares someone else. Tell all your friends NOT to use this vet! more

My parents have been going here for years. They have 8 dogs. The amount of money they have spent here is insane. But tonight, their beloved Boston Terrier Buster had something happen with his eye. It ruptured and blood was running everywhere. My Dad flew over there to the vet, and made it at closing time. They turned him away and said they were going home. Wouldn't even look at the dog who is crying in pain and bleeding everywhere. Now I understand we all want to go home, but I also know the one quality I would look for in a vet is true compassion for animals. My parents will NEVER return here, and I will spend the rest of my life ensuring everyone knows these people DO NOT CARE about animals. more

What an awesome veterinary hospital. Dr. Powers is very caring and very knowledgeable. The staff is excellent, and always helpful.\r They also offer boarding, grooming, doggie day camp and training.\r If you have not stopped by to take a tour you really should. You will be very pleased. more

The best vet in the Upstate for sure 11/10/2010

I have had dogs my whole life and we take good care of them. So I know a good place when I go there. This vet and his staff are GREAT. Probably the best I have ever been to. He was thorough, personable, and easy to understand. The problems my dog had were fixed real quick. Now we go there to get the dog shots and to board him when we have to. What a great boarding place they have! You cant believe how clean and big the place is. My dog is happy when we pull up to the office. I cant believe it!\r His charges aren't bad either. Less than what I was paying down the road apiece.\r There just aint a better place to take your dog....I been to many of them in Greer and this is the best. more

Couldn't be happier with the new vet. He is so knowledgeable and caring. I can go on a trip knowing my dog will be happy and well cared for. Having a groomer there too is so convenient. more

GREAT VET 9/3/2010

I couldn't be happier with treatment my dog received. The practice was recently sold and the new doc is GREAT. He has helped my dog with problems she was suffering with for quite a while. He knows his stuff. The staff is caring, helpful and friendly. I have confidence to board my dog there, and I just wouldn't leave her anywhere. Fees are reasonable and they are trustworthy....you couldn't do better more

Excellent Dog Care 6/22/2009

I board and daycare my German Shepherd here, the staff is great, they know all his doggie likes and dislikes and proactively check him out to make sure he is in top shape. The vet services are a little more expensive but worth it. A very caring group. Pros: great care, fun daycare, accessories Cons: pricy more

Positive Experiences with Barkingham Palace 11/28/2008

I've used Barkingham Palace for 10 years, 5 cats, and one dog. I think they are a little more expensive than some other vets (like the Humane Society) but the location is convenient and the service is very good. Dr Hartley and team are careful when treating your pet and very sympathetic when your pet is past the point of treatment and needs to be put to sleep. (I've had to do this with 2 cats who got old and very sick and found it to be tougher to watch than I thought). I've used their kennel twice for our dog and have felt good that he is well cared for and in a safe environment. Boarding rates are comparable to other kennels around Greenville and the only other place I would consider is Dog Trainers Workshop in Ftn Inn since I used them for training and had a good experience. Pros: Location, parking, compasionate staff and vet Cons: cost is a little high more
