BEWARE Roberts Towing! This company is absolutely parasitic. They lurk near the properties they monitor and will essentially boost your car quicker than any carjackers could dream. On a Sunday morning in March 2014, my fiance and I parked in a small lot next to ""Unleashed,"" the small PETCO outlet on Harvard Ave in Brighton and ran in for no more than 5 minutes to pick up cat food. When we came out, our car was gone. The lot is the site of an abandoned bank. We had parked off to the side, so we would not block anyone's way. I called Roberts who does have a sign there and they informed me that my car was in their possession and that I would have to come to their lot with $131(tow, storage, & some other fee) to retrieve it.\r I was lambasted by their receptionist as someone who fails to respect private property. The truth is - while they may be covered by law, they bend it to fit their predatory business model. They are owned by the same company that owns Fries Towing and they have a location in Newton as well as Brighton. They are virtual criminals, if not criminals under the law.\r more

I find it very unfair the way Robert's Towing treats other human beings who are struggling in this tough economy. The fact that you towed my son's car from a parking lot the musicians use often to unload/load equipment 15 minutes after mine, clearly demonstrates the fact they are greedy and patrol for money. I will be telling everyone I know and posting reviews about their hot spots and what this company truly does to make a buck. I try and be a stand up person and admit when I am wrong, which I did in my original complaint...I filed a complaint with the BBB and Roberts Towing is not refunding me the $35 they charged me for the time my car was in their lot (less than an hour) I had to pay a total of $131.00. I did not find it fair that I was charged $35.00 for less than an hour of having my car. So you stick to your rules and regulations Robert's Towing and live with your greed if that's what makes your company thrive. Good luck with that. Where I live, people have better things to do with their time, than ride around and try to make people's lives miserable. Trust me, it will all catch up with you in the end...God is watching. Have a good day :)\r \r BEWARE OF BLANCHARDS PARKING LOT AND THE STRIP MALLS IN ALLSTON, THEY PATROL TOW :) DON'T GIVE THIS COMPANY THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. more

This morning (4/30/13) my car was boosted up on a tow truck by Robert's Towing. The vehicle was parked in the rear parking lot at Tynan Elementary School in South Boston (corner of Emerson and K Street). You can legally park there in the evening, until 7 AM in the morning. I arrived at exactly 7 to move my car, and a tow truck had already boosted it up. I told the driver to stop and he pulled out of the parking lot. I told him that it was 6:59 and he said, no it's 7:02, and said I was parked illegally. He immediately demanded a 90 dollar fee (cash only) because the car had been taken off the lot. I told him I saw him just drive it off the lot and asked him to put the car down be sensible, since I showed up right at 7 AM. He refused and said ""rules are rules"". I didn't have $90 on me, so I asked to go to an ATM. He said I ""had two minutes"". I had to run to an ATM, run back, and then he didn't have change, so I had to beg a local bakery to help me out. I felt I had no choice, so I gave him the money. Looking back on it, he must have put my car up on his truck prior to 7 AM, since I showed up right on time. I understand these tow truck drivers have to deal with angry people all day, and people who park illegally should have their cars removed, but that was not the case in this instance. The driver was completely unreasonable and just wanted my money. He showed a complete lack of respect, integrity, and rationality. I was completely taken advantage of! more

YOu guys really need to stop illegally towing cars.. People work hard for their money and will not tolerate this much longer. Your only tow truck drivers, and you talk and treat people with no respect and touching peoples personal property with out just cause.. Im not going to take this laying down and will become a vocal thorn in your side till Justice is servered more

Tow truck vultures! 5/2/2012

I was helping my college son move across the street on a Saturday afternoon. I was parked behind the apartment complex in an unloading spot by a gate. No one was around. Roberts towing must have been hidden and watching because we stepped away for 2 minutes and when we came back, they had towed us. After a 4 mile bike ride and $143 to the arrogant vultures, we later saw them cruising the same lots looking for other cars to poach. more

The underbelly of Boston 2/9/2012

On a recent visit to Boston we fell victim to Roberts Towing. It's Sunday morning and we are parked in the back of our daughter's apartment building, with the flashers on, loading suitcases to leave. We aren't blocking the alley, and there's not a sole in sight. In the time it took us to go upstairs, get our things and come back down our car was already all hitched up and about to be towed away. There was no talking to this scruffy low life who demanded $50 in cash to release our car. I have parked there on numerous occasions, including Sept 1st (notorious moving in day in Boston) to unload furniture, groceries, etc. and never had an issue. We had no choice, and this vulture knew it, but to pay to have him release our car before he subjected it to to major damage. He wasn't even professional enough to know that you can't tow cars that are four wheel drive. So be forewarned ... Roberts Towing doesn't need a valid excuse to tow your car, they just do it because they want to. I swear he must have been watching us from up the street just waiting for us to leave the car unattended for a minute. Unfortunately one star is the lowest I can give. This company gives Boston a bad name. more

SCAM!!!!!!!!!!! 11/28/2011

Roberts Towing is a SCAM. My car was parked legally on a rental spot, i pay $175 a month to park there. My parking tag was clearly visible, they attempted to tow my car previously even with the TAG. I was able to stop them in TIME, but last night they successfully towed my car. I bet they towed my car mistakenly then realized they cant park my vehicle back at my spot, so they decided to toss my parking tag away and towed my car for civil trespass. BULLSH**!!!! my car was parked there for over 2yrs with a parking TAG!!!!!!! Dont try to scam my money....went to the POLICE and filed a report of THEM. reason i know they were suspicious because they were not willing to disclose their names or the driver's name. more

Stole My Truck 11/9/2011

Criminals and suckers who live on other peoples earnings 4/11/2011

I was at one of the chestnut realty property visiting a friend on a sunday and the parking lot was empty, I had parked there since the street parking was all taken I was gone for 30 mins and my car got towed. Sunday we have free parking through out the city, this is just a money sucking device for not only the towing company, but for chestnut realty as well. They had no one to talk properly, the lady I spoke to was ready to bite my head off even before I said hello. I had tp pay $143 dollars to get my car back. I use to live at one of the chestnut hill realty read my reviews about them before renting from them. more

Criminals 2/12/2011

Well, they're criminals. The driver took a friend's car from our spot and charged us a $50 fee to unhook it from the tow. He told us to ""dig deeper"" when we initially had only $42, and when I asked the guy what I could do to get him to unhook the car he told me to step away from the car. It might be cliche to talk about his being on a power trip, but I've never seen a clearer case. Perhaps the worst part is that he towed based solely on the unsubstantiated claims of another person. more

Totally shady 8/23/2010

They towed a friends car illegally. We even suspect they moved a car to an illegal spot so they could make money towing. Lawyers and media will be called as well as the Att. General for the State. more

Paying mexicans. 5/19/2009

These guys pay mexican men to sit in parking lots and call them if the cars owner does not go into the place that the parking lot belongs to.... They were rudely eyeing me as I walked away and when I came back 10 mins later my car was gone. While I walked the 2 miles to pick up my car, I saw SIX roberts tow trucks with cars. Watch where you park when there are shady mexican men standing around more

Bad Customer Services 10/24/2008

My car was towed from RiteAid parking lot on 10/23/08. The sign indicated customer can park ther for one hour. We were forced to take a taxi to go to their parking lot to pick up the car and paid $112 in cash without any reasonable explanation. I was threaten that I would not win at court as they had encountered many cases before. I was very disappointed about their attitude toward customers especially they were rewarded with $112 for $90 towing and $20 storage fee which is ridiculus as they just towed our car to their parking lot for less than 5 minutes. more

couldn't believe these guys 9/12/2008

I don't know if these guys hide behind the corner praying. But I stopped at the parking lot of my building literary for 2 minutes. Just to run upstairs and get my stuff ,I had the engine running and the blinkers on.When I came downstairs I couldn't believe that the guy had my car hooked to their towing truck. I tried to explain them I was just loading stuff and but they wouldn't reason and would tow my car in front of me if I haven't paid them $50. more

Reckless...Very BAD Roberts Towing Incorporated 6/11/2008

I found a big scratch in the rear bumper of my car after they towed it. My car is brand new, but they put wrong information in the receipt I received from them. I was towed in my own apartment parking area. Where do you think I should complain because they don't accept the fault? Thank more

Horrible 4/22/2008

They towed my car from MY spot where I live. They charged me the $115 for parking in MY spot. Didn't listen to me, I was hung up on several times. One driver made me give him a $50 ""fee"" for him to push a button to put my car back down. I had to pay an extra $165 on top of my already high monthly rate. The only nice person there is Jackie. Nobody else would listen. If your lot is towed by Roberts look for another lot close by. You will not regret it. Pros: They always answer the phone Cons: They hang up on you and are not helpful. more

CROOKS - Shady characters in a shady business 3/10/2008

I had my car towed the other night....my fault. I had to go get the car and the folks there were a group of thugs...I didn't get a receipt (which tells me perhaps some the $114.00 cash was stuffed into pockets). Pros: they DO answer the phone at 1 a.m. Cons: overcharge and are reckless while towing vehicles more

Worst service ever 2/22/2008

I can think of nothing positive to say about the service I received here. Not only did they overcharge me, but then they became quite hostile when I mentioned it. It's a wonder they're permitted to operate. Cons: Everything more
