I recently visited Roadrunner Motors to check out a few cars. One that stood out was an 2002 Audi A6 Quattro. The price was great, however I knew Audi's have high maintenance costs. I asked about any previous problems, and named by part the three most common Audi A6 issues which he said had not been found on the car. We then did a detailed under-car inspection during a test drive and found one of the problems I mentioned!
The problem was two torn CV boots, something a mechanic would see the instant he checked over a car. Either their mechanic is unqualified to certify a car safe to drive on the road, or they deliberately withheld this information from us.
Needless to say, we did not purchase anything from this dealer. Do not be convinced by cheap prices alone. Although we ended up buying a Honda from a dealership, try West End Auto Sales in Maryville, they were genuine and incredibly helpful while we shopped.
