I found dealing with Rivchun Chas S & Sons very frustrating. I had worked with one of the store owners, Joe, to find an engagement ring. We finally settled on a beautiful estate stone.\r \r To my dismay, the store called me several days later and informed me that they had inadvertently 'chipped' this stone while setting it, rendering it unfit for sale.\r \r The store refused to sell me a ring with a comparable carat weight and color diamond for the same price; instead, the store gave me a choice between a smaller certified stone with a yellow tint for the same price - a far cry from the stone I was originally offered, or a stone comparable in color/cut/clarity but for hundreds more! The sales manager, Joe, had offered to throw in the cost of the setting. Even with this 'concession', my out-the-door cost was $200 higher than what he originally offered.\r \r However, I feel that since I was promised a stone that was damaged through the store's negligence, I should get a comparable stone for more

Welcoming clients as family since 1917

Owner Message
  • Charles S. Rivchun founded his jewelry business in downtown Cleveland in 1917, opening his first wholesale store in the Old Arcade Building on Euclid Avenue. Four years later, he moved the store to the Hickok Building on the corner of Ninth Street and Euclid Avenue. In 1943, Rivchun Jewelers moved to the City Club Building where Charles encouraged a number of fellow jewelers to relocate and thus, was instrumental in establishing Cleveland Historical Jewelry Center. Charles three sons, Sandy, Fred and Armand joined the business after World War II, along with Sandy's wife, Lynne, and Fred's wife, Muriel. Over the next five decades, the two families developed a reputation in both the community and the industry as experts in diamonds, precious gemstones and metals, watches and estate jewelry. Rivchun embraced the most current trends and methods of the industry as was apparent by their introduction of lab certified diamonds to the Cleveland area. In the spring of 2001, the Rivchun families were gracious enough to continue the jewelry store's legacy by selling the business to their long time employees. Today, Chas. S. Rivchun and Sons, Jewelers is owned and operated as a wholesale/retail establishment by partners Joe Soukenik Sr., Sharon Porrello, and Joe Soukenik Jr. Rivchun staff of ten full-time employees share more than 240 years of jewelry experience and maintain the formula of the company for success: Service, Quality and Value!
