To my dismay, the store called me several days later and informed me that they had inadvertently 'chipped' this stone while setting it, rendering it unfit for sale.\r

The store refused to sell me a ring with a comparable carat weight and color diamond for the same price; instead, the store gave me a choice between a smaller certified stone with a yellow tint for the same price - a far cry from the stone I was originally offered, or a stone comparable in color/cut/clarity but for hundreds more! The sales manager, Joe, had offered to throw in the cost of the setting. Even with this 'concession', my out-the-door cost was $200 higher than what he originally offered.\r
