5 Stars for Food, Service, & Ambiance 6/30/2009

My husband and I recently visited this restaurant for dinner on a whim. We were both so impressed that I advised our waiter that the next time I was on the internet I would take the time to write about our dining experience. \r \r Our food was delicious; the service was fantastic, and the ambiance was very nice. All this combined with reasonably priced menu selections, make it the best kept secret in Dana Point. We will definitely be going back. Pros: Great Value for Your Money Cons: No Sunday Brunch is a waste of their patio location more

The best italian restaurant 9/26/2008

In a very nice place called Dana point there is a very good Italian Restaurant called Ristorante Ferrantelli. You can eat the best italian food of California. We are two italian guys and we can ensure the quality of food and service. When you get in the Restaurant you must recognize the typical italian style of the enviroment. The price is right about the quality. Enjoy! more

great location for corporate events!!! 9/18/2008

I recently booked my company's yearly corporate party at Ferrantelli Restaurant for about 100 people. This was the best one we've had in 15 years!! They made the planning so easy for me - I didn't have to do a thing. Our menu was fantastic-everyone just raved about the food! The waiters who took care of us all night were incredibly entertaining and professional. The whole staff made our entire evening very memorable! This restaurant is so beautiful and warm inside that we didn't want the evening to end. The prices on the food and wine are quite reasonable. We will be returning to Ferrantelli's every year for our corporate events! Pros: separate rooms for private events, great patio with fire! Cons: there isn't one in every city! more

Best Italian food around!!!! 9/18/2008

My first time to this restaurant was this past weekend. My wife and I were staying at a nearby hotel who reccommended this restaurant to us. We have eaten Italian food all over the country through our travels and none have been this good. I ordered the seafood risotto and my wife ordered the Tutto Mare. The seafood in my risotto was juicy and succulent and flavored perfectly and my wife's Tutto Mare was the best we have ever had. It was full of the freshest seafood and the pasta was cooked perfectly ""al dente"". The server helped us choose a nice wine to pair with our meal and just as promised it complemented it nicely.\r Our service was very attentive without being intrusive! I found the prices to be right in line with what I got - a delicious meal, wonderful service, and a beautiful ambiance! Will go back every time we visit Dana Point. Pros: great quality food and service Cons: very busy - need reservation! more

not such a good place 9/15/2008

I was in a business trip by myself and I was being recommended this restaurant. I did not have a good experience at all. It was a friday night, I walked in and I was offered a table in the corner of the restaurant, even though it was not that busy, I didn't have a view. I had one of the specials, I didn't feel like perusing throughout the menu, it look too busy and complicated in appereance. I had a fish that was too fishy, server was no too polite, maybe because I did not spend too much money. I was going to have a glass of wine, but the prices are outrages, and too many choices. I got an ice tea and the fishy fish, that was not enough? Place is quite expensive for quality of the product, service and food. I do business a lot in this area from the est coast, I will never return here. more

Our favorite restaurant in South OC 7/6/2003

My husband and I discovered this restaurant about three months ago, and now we try to go every chance we get. By now I've tried at least half of what's on the menu (as well as many of the dozens of specials that are offered nightly) and every dish has exceeded my expectations in terms of portion size, taste, and value. But what makes Ferrantelli such an exceptional dining experience is its impeccable service. Every waiter talks about each dish as if he's created it himself, and every waiter is well versed in the very thorough wine list. I highly recommend the sea bass when it's offered as a special, I adore the spaghetti tuttomare, which includes tons of seafood and a light tomato sauce, and I swear by their apple tart dessert--it is truly heavenly! Pros: Excellent service, diverse menu, rarely crowded Cons: expensive wine list more

Great Find 5/24/2003

My wife and I discovered this place two months ago and have been back six times. At first glance, Ferrantelli's looks like many other suburban Italian restaurants with high prices, mediocre food, and barely adequate service. Nothing could be further from the truth. Once you step through the door, you're in the hands of professionals. The decor is heavy on marble and fat baby angels, but somehow it works. The waitstaff, though at times overly attentive, know's as much about the food as the chef, a native of Naples with amazing talent. If you're a wine person, there's plenty on the wine list. Corkage is expensive, so don't bring your own. Try the seabass, which is consistently delicious. The only downside is an old guy who strolls from table to table singing (yes, singing)... He's not around often, so we live with it and enjoy everything else. more
