Went to Riptides last night for the first time. The food was awesome, services was great, cool atmosphere! I checked it out from a Social Living deal I bought and was glad I found out about the place and will be back!....Like seafood? Then you need to check out Riptides the food is great! more

Took the family for my niece's brithday...waiter was horrible, Ordered 5 meals, they brought it out on 3 plates for 5 people, asked for extra plates, didn't show up, finally had to go get them ourselves. Ordered a refill of a beer, it sat at the bar for 10 minutes, had to go get it ourselves. He forgot my nephews food all together...then other waitstaff kept showing up at our table with food that was meant for other tables...asked for a dessert for my niece for her birthday, the waiter brought it in a to go box...we didn't order to go! we opened the to go box, got a candle from another table and had quietly sang happy birthday...weird night...we tried to make the best of her birthday, did I mention when we got there that the waitstaff was singing happy birthday to another table...they couldn't sing for her or even get a dessert order right...oh and bathrooms weren't clean, there was a man in the woman's restroom, trash cans had not been emptied...expensive prices for poor quality servce! more

Upon recommendations of friends, we stopped into this wonderful restaurant after visiting family in the area. It was a Saturday, and we did have to wait about 20 min. to get seated but it was well worth it! The food was wonderful and very fresh. The staff was super nice and friendly. We took along our 3 1/2 year old son and although a very nice restaurant it was very family friendly. Will defiantly be visiting again, even if we drive the extra 35 min from our house to dine there. A+ more

This was our first visit to this restaurant, and there are many more to follow. Service was excellent. Food is so amazing and fresh. The owners are very personable and made sure that each of their customers are given a perfect experience. Cannot say enough good things about this great find in Chester. Great job to the owners and managers. Great job!!! Will be back many more times in the near future. Pros: Brand new outdoor patio... Beautiful. Cons: Had no room for anymore food. more

We went on August 2, 2009 for lunch. The waitress dropped my silverware on the floor, and gave it back to me. If this what they do in the public eye, what are they doing in the private kitchen? more

My entire family loves Riptides!!!! We try to go there once a month. The service is great and everyone is very friendly. We love what the new owners have done to the place. The food is great and it is always cooked as you ordered it. Keep up the great work Riptides!!!!!!! more

Great food and family atmosphere. The guys love the TV's. The addition of the full bar is great! I have eaten here numerous times and refer it to everyone I know. I love the linguine pescatore--absolutely the best! Even the hamburgers and homemade fries are terrific. I will definately be back with my whole family to continue to enjoy great food and great atmosphere. I like the fact that they accomodate large parties too! My husband and I went to Riptides this past Saturday evening and we could not believe how much things had changed. We learned that they went under new ownership this past year. We could not get over how beautiful everything was. We loved the food and the service. Everything was wonderful. We live about 20 minutes away, and now we will be traveling across town to get to Riptides. We have finally found a great seafood restaurant, with people that really take note to their customers. more

Food was bland, service was slow, would not recommend. Would recommend Fishbones or Red Lobster over this. more

My family and I ate at Riptides last weekend and had a wonderful experience. We had a wonderful server, who catered to our children and us above and beyond. The fresh rockfish that we had was absolutely amazing. We had it stuffed with crab, and i can honestly say that it is the best that we have eaten. It is a family owned business and the owners are there throughout the evenings, working with their staff to make sure that everything falls into place. AND IT DOES!!! We had a great time!!! This is the third time of us eating there and it only seems to get better with every visit. I read below about a disgruntled customer, and i can honestly say that I have never seen a customer in there upset. Alot of our friends and family eat there on a regular basis and they only praise it. So way to go Riptides family and staff. We love your food and service. Keep doing what you are doing, because you are the best kept secret in Chester. Pros: good job on lines in the parking lot....you guys needed that!!! more

Our appetizers were delicious and came pretty quickly but it went down hill from there. We had to wait over an hour for our food. The waitress came to us and apologized for the wait but our dishes were being plated. 15 minutes later we finally got our food. One member of our party ordered fish broiled and got it fried. So he had to send it back. Then my mom's rockfish (the special for the evening) was way over salted and she had to send it back. The rest of our food was luke warm. One member of our party was a culinary trained chef and swears the rockfish was not rockfish. We complained to the manager and were told that she took the rockfish off the check already and there was nothing else she could do. We should have ordered our food quicker and sent back our food if it wasn't warm enough was her response. The manager never once came to the table on her own - after waiting an hour, and having to send two dishes back. We will never eat there again. Have truly enjoyed the wonderful new look and the overall quality of the visit. Very friendly staff and good fresh made food. Wish I could go everyday. Expect it to be busy as news has spread. Pros: Thumbs up on price, food and new apeal. Cons: waiting list, but they can not help it due to it is so good. more

We have been very pleasantly surprised at the wonderful food that Riptides has...much better than even the seafood places we've tried at VA Beach. Nice atmosphere and excellent service. The crab dip is great if you like it a little spicy. I personally like the reasonably priced fried oyster meal. Pros: Service, fresh food. Cons: a little warm in there the last time we were there...may have been a temporary problem more

This place is one of the only places you can go to get fresh raw bar, great specials, and fast good fried or broiled seafood combos. I would even tell my mom to eat here and she is one of the best chefs I know! more
