One word...... C0CKROACH!! 2/11/2009

I LOVE sushi!! With that being said I would have recommended this restaurant to anyone looking for good sushi on the Eastside...... until last night. Pros: Mac and Jacks is good. Cons: C0COKROACHES are bad! more

Best in Kirkland 1/5/2009

Ok, I have been going here for over four years and I must say, it is the best in Kirkland. Of course there are better sushi places, like Nijo in downtown Seattle but for Kirkland, this is it. I've read other reviews and was surprised as I have never had a bad experience here. I have had slow service when busy but never bad food or rude staff. The only thing that is annoying to me about the place is that they run out of things. Toro is a good example. As far as the bar, it is a SUSHI place. It isn't a club so whoever posted about the ""biker"" bartender...Who cares. Pros: Food Cons: Slow service when busy more

Good, but not great. 9/5/2008

I went here for the second time with a friend the other night. The spicy crunch roll (the one that is deep fried) was good - perfectly spicy. Also got the scallop and crab roll and it was deliciously sweet and perfect. The eel roll was less so, disappointing when compared to the other two. The Agedashi Tofu was perfect! Absolutely delicious. Our watiress was very nice, refilled my tea quickly and was joking around with us about the drunk guy yelling at people in the bar. Pros: Good rolls, convenient location Cons: prices are a little high for the casual atmosphere more

Has Rikki Rikki gone Biker Bar?? 6/8/2008

Just a question. I have frequented Rikki Rikki for years because it is close to the theatre and a convenient meeting location. The happy hour is pretty good too, sometimes the food is better than others, and there is no question that the portion sizes and the rolls have diminished recently and the prices have risen. Such are the times we are in. But, there is a new bartender there, be forewarned. Even if you just pumped iron around the corner at the gym or built your stamina up beyond Hercules? level at hot yoga next door I?m pretty sure she can kick your butt. Pros: Close to theatre and downtown Kirkland, parking is pretty good. Cons: Food and service are inconsistent. more

What happened to the QUALITY???? 6/3/2008

I've lived in Kirkland for many years have been going to Rikki Rikki as my primary sushi spot on the east side. However, lately I've been very disappointed in the quality of the food that they have been serving. It's come to the point where it doesn't matter how sweetly the servers treat me (because I am a regular) or how many coupons and discounts are offered. The quality has definitly gone down. I ordered a crunchy roll (which used to be my favorite) but it was cold and the ""crunchy"" part was actually chewy. And I agree with the other guy who said that the place is ""sticky"". I sat in the booth section of the restaurant and I had to ask the server if she could wipe my table down. Even with that, it was still sticky afterwards. I've politley complained a few times about the quality of the food and then I get offered a comp or a discount. I guess that would be good for someone who's frugal or doesn't care about the quality as long as it's cheap. But I do and the quality just does't seem to be getting better. While all else failed, the service was great. Pros: Friendly Staff Cons: Food Quality, Cleanliness, Manager Response to Complaints more

happy hour, friendly staff 3/13/2008

okay, this place keeps me coming back. they have an excellent selection, a fast, and friendly staff, and the sushi chefs are always helpful when i have questions (sitting at the sushi bar). Pros: tasty food, hostess, happy hour, the bar, decor more

Big Mistake 12/5/2007

I am new to the Kirkland area and have been looking for decent Japanese restaurant. Sushiya seemed to be well reviewed, but is closed (for good?). Rikki Rikki was nearby and seemed to be decently reviewed, so I decided to give it a try. Pros: Wild Alaska Sockeye Nigiri Cons: Everything else more

Yummy Spider Rolls!! 8/13/2007

I have frequented this sushi restaurant since the mid 1996. I really enjoy the atmosphere. The food is consistently fresh and very nicely done. It is not what i call an authentic sushi house, but it suits me fine. I love the the Spider Rolls and the spicy tuna roll Mmmmm. Pros: easy parking, reliable service and consistent food Cons: long waits for friday and saturdays sometimes!!! more

Decent 8/5/2007

I recently tried Rikki Rikki on a radio promo gift cerficate.. and had heard good reviews. The restaurant was very busy, management seems very attentive and friendly. It was a weekday so we were seated quickly. I must say the Devil Roll is amazing as well as their tempura. It was the best tempura ive had in a long time, not greasy, very tender and piping hot! But other than that, every thing else we had was below average. The chicken teriyaki was bland, california and smoked salmon rolls were dry and not that fresh. Our waitress did not check on us at all until she gave us our bill. Didnt ask if we wanted dessert either. Another waitress finally filled our waters. Overall, i probably wont go back but if you do go, definitely try the devil roll. Pros: Devil roll and Tempura, friendly management, location Cons: Service, dry sushi more

Excellent Food! 6/22/2007

I've been going to Rikki Rikki for the last 2 years or so. I started going there before they expanded their restaurant and have always had a pleasant experience. I was happy when they expanded as they've been extremely busy EVERY time I've been there...no matter what time of the day/night. They have great food - I recommend anything on their menu. I used to never eat sushi and this was where I had my first sushi experience. I've eaten sushi at a few other restaurants in the Seattle area and it's never as good or as fresh. Their bento boxes are wonderful if you're looking for variety, I've had their steak twice and it was excellent both times (if you don't it undercooked - BE sure to tell them how you want it cooked!) I've ordered drinks from their bar and they've always been great as well. I think it's wonderful that Rikki Rikki also makes their own sauces. Like their wasabi dressing...I've done a great deal of experimenting here as I never ate raw food and have always been scared about spicy food - but their Wasabi dressing on their salads is simply delightful! It's my understanding that they sell their sauces/dressings also - their website shows they have their Wasabi dressing/dipping sauce (yummy!), as well as Miso Sesame Dressing & Sauce and their Orange Teriyaki w/Roasted Garlic which both sound delightful, but I've never had them before. Parking can be tight due to the location with the movie theater/strip mall there, and again they can be quite busy, even just before closing - but that just shows that they're an excellent restaurant in my opinion! The only negative thing I could say about RR is that there service has been slow on a few occasions, but I never go out for a meal in a rush - I go to enjoy myself, so it's never bothered me. Also, slowness of service doesn't irritate me if they're busy - which they always are. Only if they're slow and you get crappy service (which has never happened here to me!) All in all, a wonderful place! Pros: excellent food & sushi, drawings on walls Cons: parking, sometimes slow seating/service due to crowds more

Sushi for the mass market 5/13/2007

The restaurant is close to the Kirkland waterfront in a kind of a strip mall setting next to a theater. The parking can get a bit hard at night. The service was a bit slow after getting seated and didn?t get too much better. I had three lunches within two months. One of my biggest issues has always been getting my tea refilled since I like to get three or more refills. Rikki Rikki uses a small hot water-pot to fill the tea cup but trying to get more hot water was not an easy task. The restaurant it self was nice and large. The sushi bar it self was smaller in comparison to the size of the restaurant. The Sushi was adequate. I had the spicy tuna roll and spider roll. I also had the lunch special on one visit. The hole experience left me a bit empty. I would have like to see a better sushi menu or better service or just something more. Pros: Large restaurant, decent sushi Cons: Slow service, nights and weekend parking more

Good friendly service, especially with kids 2/17/2007

Quality sushi at reasonable prices, Rikki Rikki has one of the best sushi chef on the eastside. Very good rolls and entrees. All the rolls are good, fresh sashimi and have to try the Hamachi Kama! Pros: Excellent service and food quality Cons: sometime you will have to wait to be seated even at the bar area more

Good Fresh Food 9/17/2006

Not the most astounding menu but the service is great and the food is fresh and delicious! Waitstaff seems very friendly and willing to help. Pros: Food was fresh, good staff Cons: Not the best selection, smaller place more

great bar atmosphere!!! 8/9/2006

I just got back from having dinner in the bar at Rikki Rikki and the food and service were excellent. The bartender helped us choose some really delicious appitizers (honey walnut shrimp!) , the drinks were stiff and the bartender was personable and funny. I can't agree with the review below, our sushi was fresh and the service was excellent! Pros: some really good food and good looking staff Cons: close to early more

take your business elsewhere! 8/7/2006

alright sushi, the worst service! I have never felt more unwanted in a restaurant. the waitress in the bar might as well have pushed us out the door. i hope you missed your movie! more

Microsoft Primecard Users Beware!!! 12/26/2005

I have been going to Rikki Rikki for years and have enjoyed many fun meals. The food/sushi is very good although over the years, it has gotten quite expensive compared to other places. Recently, I went with a friend who works at Microsoft since his Microsoft Primecard indicated that if you buy one entree, you would receive an additional one for free and also indicated 20% on the sushi. Well, we ordered entrees and a few pieces of sushi as appetisers. When we got the bill, it only had a few dollars off for the sushi and no free entree. They told us the discount was only for the sushi even though the prime card web site indicated otherwise. Bottomline, if you plan to use your primecard to get a free entree when ordering another, do NOT order even 1 piece of sushi or you will be screwed. more
