We called richmond computer out to our house to look at our 3 computers. We needed our laptop ready for us by the weekend for a trip. Kelly assured us he would have it ready he also performed a security audit on our network and desktops and synced them up and cleaned out all spyware and viruses. I took my laptop to richmond computer guy on main st. dropped it off on a friday and paid 200 to get them to tell me what was wrong with it, not fix it, just run tests on it. They told me on monday that my motherboard was dead but nothing else was wrong, my hardrive was good and all my files were safe, they then told me it'd cost me about 500 to replace my motherboard so I decided to just buy a new computer (which I did). It took me three tries to get my computer back because no one is ever at their store even though the sign says you can pick up your stuff from 4:00 to 6:00pm when you actually can't. Two weeks later they called me back and told me they could send my computer to HP and have it fixed for free. (yay? now why didn't you say that in the first place and why now?) So then it took me two tries to drop it off to their store because again, no one's there, ever. Two more weeks went bye and I hadn't heard from them once, so I left an inquiry email asking them when it'd be ready because apparently thy don't know how to pick up the phone either. Well apparently my laptop was ready, who knew, the least they could do is tell you its ready right? So finally a week and a half of knowing it was done I was finally able to get it because I finally had the time to walk over there while someone was Actually there! CRAZY HOWEVER they lost my lapop cover, they told me it might be somewhere else but didn't tell me when or where or if I could have it back. They gave me an adaptor that isn't mine... it works, and fits, however it isn't mine. Not only was the staff friendly and helpful but my computer hasn't run this well since it was new. I checked out some other places and they did seem slightly more expensive but I have a nice laptop and I didn't want just anyone messing with it. Plus the technician went over the entire diagnosis with me and emailed me updates on progress of the initial testing and repair. My peace of mind was worth a few extra dollars. Pros: complete analysis of entire system in diagnosis and emailed updates Cons: a little more pricey than some but worth it more

Check BBBratings before you use them. They did not complete a simple set up on my computer for wireless internet, and will not return phone call or e-mails. They are much higher than market prices for their services and were rated ""Best of Richmond"" in Richmond Magazine. Do not assume that accurately reflects their work. more

Took in my PC for a repair because it was beeping. It went in with two 1-gig sticks of RAM in it, and when it was returned to me, it had only two 512 megabyte sticks in it. It was visibly running much slower. When I took it back to the store to get my RAM back, they refused to speak with me or help me, then gave me a run-around. They refused to replace it or refund it. I would be very careful of doing business with this store because first they tried to charge me $200 for a simple virus scan, then they stole my computer parts and lied about it. Beware!
