Love the brunch here--it's always nice to find a new brunch spot and especially one that is so affordable. It's also great that you can sit in their patio any time of year no matt...

fantastic staff, really make you feel welcome, food very very average at best, drink only. and why change the name to revel from no name.. very very foolish Pros: great staff and ambience Cons: food very average more

Truly Terrific 1/23/2009

I knew nothing of the Meatpacker's District, but if Revel represents, then I will recommend it to everyone. I really don't know of many neighborhoods like this one, nor of many restaurants/bars like Revel. Real charm, I guess. An enclosed winter garden, and coming from a place where we've got winter 6 months a year, I can really appreciate. My pasta (I had something like fetucini) was really good and so were the drinks. We were 5 with no reservation and they were able to accommodate us rather quickly. Everyone else had steak (it comes on these huge flat stones which were really hot - watch out!) and they loved them - a word of caution though: if you like your steak rare get it off that stone quick or itll get overcooked!!). But I'm really writing because the service was outstanding. I've had decent NY service before, but this is really a cut above. Pros: no ""waiting list"", terrific food and good prices for the neighborhood Cons: if you're coming at 9 leave extra time - streets are really crowded more

Great place for a daytime event!!! 1/18/2009

Hosted a baby shower there this past weekend for 25 people. The garden was pretty and very spacious for NYC standards. The food was good (not amazing but good), the price was great and what made the day run smoothly was the EXCELLENT staff. Thank you so much Revel!! more

Had a ball 11/28/2008

We were at Revel last week for dinner on Saturday night. Our friends were visiting from Ontario and wanted a night out in the MPD. My wife and I normally avoid the neighborhood but made an exception. We are both so glad we did. more

This place is fantastic! 11/28/2008

I went for dinner at Revel on Wednesday night with my sister who is visiting for the holiday, and I have to say that what I just read on the previous review completely mystifies me. Someone wrote that the food was terrible, but I simply can't believe that they ate at the same restaurant. I worked in the restaurant business for many years, and I know that it's possible that some nights can be better than others in every respect. But when you have food like we did, which was unbelievable across the board, it's hard to imagine that it could fluctuate to such an extent. Pros: Beautiful ambience, AMAZING food more

You'll live to regret it... 11/26/2008

I'm not going to make this colorful and pretty. Just straight to the point. Cons: everything more

Perfect Italian.. 10/19/2008

This was a classic high cuisine dining experience! the fillet mignon was so tasteful and truly special. Pros: outdoor dining, food, service more

Great! 8/26/2008

Dropped in for a quick bite! Food great, service friendly and knowledgeable. Pros: whole place! more

renewed faith 7/5/2008

Begrudgingly, I agreed to return to Revel for a friend's birthday party after a less-than-stellar experience last summer. Back then, the restaurant (once known only as No-Name Bar) was very obviously an after-thought relative to the bar, which packed 'em in. While the bar flourished, the restaurant floundered. The servers maintained little presence in the dining room, perhaps because there was only two of them for the entire space and it appeared they were responsible for everything (bartending, bussing, etc.) Then it rained, and our dinner came to an abrupt end. Pros: wine list, steak Cons: gets loud as the night wears on more

Loved it, you should try it. 6/19/2008

Good drinks, beautiful garden, steak sizzling on a hot rock, cold martini. Pros: great venue, fantastic service Cons: bar really full more

Beautiful space 5/13/2008

I went to Revel last weekend and was totally impressed. I normally avoid the Meatpacking District, but a friend recommended I go, as she said the food, service and atmosphere were flawless. She was right, I'm glad I went. The back yard area with the roof is beautiful; who knew that kind of space could exist here in NYC? The food was great, too, especially the Hon Shimenji mushroom and fennel salad. The staff was really helpful and super sweet. I'm going again! I'm in love with the place.... Pros: Ambiance, food, service more

best saturday night at meat market! 5/12/2008

I was there twice: the first time on a wednesday for dinner and I found it very relaxing and with a good athmosphere, the music was soft and we had a great sirloin steak on a volcanic stone; service was good, kind and fast. the second time was completely different. On a saturday late night, after midnight, the place is packed and the music is loud! After 1-2am you can sit and take a drink at the tables that normally are destinated to dinner. Really great time!! more

Best ""revelry"" in town! 5/9/2008

I went to NY last week on vacation (from italy). I just wanted to discover the ""Meatpacking district"", that I had read about on the Internet as the new most exciting borough in NY. One night I went there with some friends, and we decided to have our dinner at ""Revel"". The location is really fascinating and there is a wonderful retractable glass roof. Pros: Food, Fun, ambience more

Great Brunch 5/6/2008

Were going to go to the place next door last Sunday, which I heard has a great brunch with a cocktail special, but the wait was an HOUR, and the hostess had so much attitude I was embarrassed for her. So my 6 friends and I asked if they had space next door at Revel, and they certainly did. They weren't very busy at all, and they do run a champagne cocktail special as well. (I think they will get busier very soon.) Pros: Beautiful garden, genuinely friendly service more

Great Place for drinks! 5/1/2008

Went to have some drinks with some friends and enjoyed it! Great Bartenders and a great crowd! Loved it! more

New and improved! Had a great night. 4/30/2008

I went back last week to the 'bar with no name' now called Revel, with trepidation. I loved this laid-back garden and was worried it would have been ruined. Pros: Ambience, food Cons: Hard to park in the area more

Umm, they lose your debit card... 4/21/2008

The food is decent but the staff is very slow and inattentive. To cap it all off, when we paid the bill, THE WAITRESS LOST MY DEBIT CARD. This has never happened to me before! I had to cancel the card right there and borrow some cash from my friends to survive the weekend. Seriously, avoid the drama and skip dinner at Revel. Its just not worth it. Pros: location Cons: terrible service more

Service is beyond Bad. worst service ever 9/8/2007

I guess we were not only one that service was very bad. I really don't know what management is thinking. Nice out door space, open feel bar, Food was Okay... But the service was worst ever. I felt like I was in a communist country where service does not exist. The waitress took long time to take order. The waitress was rude. Then she forgot to serve wine, I had to ask the hostess for my wine because the waitress never show up after we order drink and food. Finally I got my wine after my steak got cold. I ordered buffalo streak. the waiter brought a beef steak. I told him we order buffalo. He said. oh, this is buffalo. Did i have beef? or buffalo. The waitress passed by our table never attend our table. We had to ask another waitress for check. Our waitress show up with check 10min later. She literally, through check on the table never mind say ""sorry I was too busy or whatever"". We paid cash because who knows how long we have to wait if we pay with a card? I did not want to stay one more minute there. Miss waitress. Smile. it does not cost you any, you are working in service industry... manager- I do not know it was your busiest day (hire more server!) or worst day, Most of your servers that night was not up to NY standard. restaurants comes and goes so fast in NY..... Pros: garden Cons: service more

service: mucho bad 8/30/2007

Wednesday night the restaurant was staffed with one waitress and nine busboys all fighting for a chance to speak with her majesty. Revel was out of 5 wines on the list, give me a break. I thought she was embarrased, but it turns out she was annoyed with US. That said, the food was good, atmosphere great. Do yourself a favor eat at the bar. more

Still great 8/7/2007

I came here when the place first opened as ""no name"" a couple of summers ago, and it was one of the best places in the neighbourhood because the people were friendly, hospitable and good at their job. The prices were the best you could find around there, too. I've been overseas for a while, and am so happy to come back to find that it's still one of the best. The place now has a full kitchen, where it used to only have a barbecue. That was great, but this is awesome. The food is delicious, and the staff are friendly, if a little forgetful sometimes. The only negative thing I can say is that it's a shame they had to name it. It was much cooler to take people to when it was anonymous. Always my first choice in the meat-packing. more
