Red Lobster

Red Lobster used to be "the place for seafood", but that has definitely changed. The options are primarily fried, the portions have decreased in size, and the prices have gone up. The cheddar bay biscuits are the best thing on the menu. The service is mediocre (on a good day) and the food is frequently served lukewarm. It's one of the only seafood place in North Lakeland, and it is worth the drive to either the other end of town or Tampa if you really crave seafood. more

Being one of only two seafood restaurants in Lakeland, and the only one on the northside makes this pretty much the only seafood game in town. What annoys me a little is that for a seafood restaurant the selection of fish is quite small and the fish that is available is mostly fried. Dont go here thinking for some fresh grilled fish, but if you like deep fried shrimp or clams then this is your place. I dont care for fried food that much and thus I am always disappointed when I go here at the small selection that is not fried. That being said the one dish I could recommend is the salmon in a bag. The bad news being that the last time I was there it was taken off the menu. Hopefully this is a seasonal thing and it will be back because without it I find it hard to talk myself into going. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Red Lobster is there garlic cheddar bay biscuits that serve when you sit down. They have a good flavor you just can't eat one. There main lobster is a little pricey but the taste worth it. PROS: garlic cheddar bay bisbuits CONS: pricey unless you get one of the specials they have going on more
