Food is delicious for the most part, but the disrespectful GM ruined any good taste I had in my mouth. They tried to make up for their mistakes by making my meal complimentary, but I personally would have rather seen a bit more understanding and willingness to improve. GM had too much pride and was incompetent towards us. Happy hour was overpriced to say the least and I will not be returning until some of the management is replaced. more

Do not appreciate inconsistency within management. First time we went to Red Koi, we had a wonderful experience! They accepted our Groupon with the Miami Spice pre fixed menu and we were delighted. Tonight we went and had a different manager who refused to accept out Groupon with happy hour drinks. Ended up walking out and not paying for the meal at all, rather than accepting the payment via Groupon. Avoid arrogant Hispanic manager at ALL costs.\r \r I will be returning all my 4 Groupons for this place because of this unhappy experience. more

I am sad to report that I will never return to Red Koi. \r \r When my husband and I moved to Miami two years ago, we discovered this restaurant. At first, we went there at least 2-3 times a month because we were new to the area and didn't know what else was out there. The food was, and still is, excellent. The curries are spicy and flavorful, the appetizers are tasty and all the food is fresh and well prepared. \r \r The service has generally been very good. Several of the wait staff recognize us when we come in and give superior service. Every once in a while the service has been so-so but the food is always wonderful. \r \r All my satisfaction with Red Koi ended last week. I called to order dinner for pick-up, which we have also done many times before. I am a vegetarian, so I ordered the Tofu Tod appetizer and Red Curry with tofu. The woman taking my order brusquely informed me that they had no tofu available. She offered no explanation or apology. That pretty much ended my interest in ordering dinner from Red Koi that night. \r \r As I thought about it later, I became upset that this restaurant that my husband and I had been to so many times before could be completely OUT OF TOFU and have an employee who cared so little that a customer was disappointed. There is a grocery store a block away that sells tofu for heavens sake! If they didn't get a shipment, there must have been a way to get an emergency supply! I wrote an email to Red Koi explaining my concern and asked for a response because I wanted to believe they were concerned that they had to disappoint their customers. I have never heard back.\r \r So, I have decided I cannot recommend this restaurant or ever go back to it again. more

Have been there twice and was very happy with both experiences. I was there for lunch which was fabulous and lots of cheaper options. I went back for a group dinner and was delighted with the happy hour drinks which were half off on a Friday night till 8PM! The food was superb and the waiter was fantastic. We will definitely be back again. more

I called ahead to get a reservation at this restaurant and they told me they did not take any, just walk in. I showed up around 8Pm and there was a line. The girl asked me if I had a reservation......!!!!! I was angry but still accepted to wait for a table. They said 1/2 an hour. After 40 minutes I checked and they said 30 minutes more. At that point, I left.....this restaurant is terribly disorganized, or else it's just that they let their favourite clients in first..... more

This soup was so heavy it was like drinking liquid candy. The sweetness obviously came from the coconut milk but how they thickened the milk to be as heavy as syrup will forever remain a mystery. more

We asked for medium spicy and received Pad Thai that was so spicy we could not taste the food and drank more water than eating the noodles. The appetizer platter was ok, serviceable. more

Had ordered takeout from them several times and loved it--mostly from their Thai menu. At the restaurant, staff was extremely rude, asking us to move from a table they had seated us at upstairs to accommodate a large party. I guess we didn't move fast enough, because one of the servers slammed a serving tray into the wall I was leaning against, which was followed by a lot of hushed laughter. We had just received our drinks and hadn't done anything remotely deserving of that. Afte moving downstairs, we ordered a very small appetizer that cost way too much, and then left. We were so offended by what had transpired upstairs that we didn't want to stay. We won't be back. more

Great food! But they will charge 1 dollar for a small side of eal souce or any other kind of sauce, also will charge for picking up! how dumb is that? You're not using their facilities or anything and they will charge for just picking up food. more

The sushi here might the best that I have had in Miami, but know this before you go, this is not the place for a quiet, romantic dinner. There are always large groups of people celebrating birthdays and their is a lounge on the second level that blasts music. Further, the service is not going to be stellar because of the atmosphere. But again, the sushi is awesome! Go with a group, not for a romantic night. more

A group of friends and I decided to try Red Koi in Coral Gables for the first time. I will never go back! The service was beyond terrible. At one point, as one of my friends is literally putting food into her mouth the waitress asked her if there was anything else she would be wanting because they had to clear our table to accomodate another large group that was waiting for a table. The reason she was still eating and the rest of us weren't is because her food came out approximately half an hour later than everyone else's. Completely unacceptable!!! After we did finish our meal we asked to speak to the manager and we were told that he was upstairs eating with his family and that if we wanted to speak with him we could go upstairs. Again, COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!! Apparently these people running the place are more concerned with making sure they are having a nice night, rather than offering the same to their patrons. The food was nothing out of this world and the service was PATHETIC!!! more

Red Koi has karaoke on Thursday nights, in the upstairs lounge. They have a few mixed drinks that are 2-4-1 and the Japanese beer Singha is 2-4-1. Karaoke starts at 9pm on Thursdays & it gets slammin'! more

The sushi selection was decent, but the presentation, service, and food was excellent. While in Coral Gables we were trying to decide between Red Koi and an Italian restaurant in the area. We picked Red Koi and were not disappointed. The decor is also very nice and our waitress was very friendly and helpful. more
