Sorry, no longer a favorite 8/22/2011

I took my son here for his Birthday because he said it was his ""favorite"" place on the strip. Cool (said I) as I had never been here before. I was excited and ready for a change. The change is, that we will NEVER return and my son couldn't believe he ever liked this place. The food was horrible, not cooked, cold in places like it was frozen before popping it in the microwave. I mean, McDonald's would have been better. We left 7/8 of our food on our plates, I reported to the waiter, (whose fault it was NOT) that there must be something wrong with the cook. He looked at me, then looked at our plates. We walked, didn't pay, I refused... I could not even swallow the food. My son ate his bread. The humas omg it was like wallpaper paste. Unbelievable. Don't waste your money. more

Horrible Service + Mgmt Does not Care = Horrible Experience 5/14/2011

I used to like this place, but the last time we went, we waited over an hour for the food to be served, when it was served, we got the wrong thing. When we complained to Mgmt, they basically said ""we're really busy, tough luck, maybe we could give a free desert or something"". Seriously! It was about the shittiest I've ever been treated at a restaurant, and, quite frankly, we were shocked. I was really, really disappointed with the restaurant, even though the servers/staff were trying their best, Mgmt appeared unconcerned with guest satisfaction. It really just ruined our day. I do not recommend place anymore. more

Kind of hum drum on flavor 8/15/2010

I tried this restaurant the other day and it was not what I expected. I had the jerk chicken sandwich and it was so dry. My potatoes were over cooked. My server hovered over me like she did not understand the unwritten boundaries of personal space, especially when two people are having a conversation on a date. I was disappointed over all. more

Original and Fun 8/5/2010

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Louisville. The menu features a wide variety of cuisines from everywhere. I have always enjoyed coming here, even before the renovated. \r \r The bar features different microbrews from across the country, which is one of my favorite features.\r \r Highly recommend the Panini a Caprese.\r \r more

Tasty Cubean Burrito made for Two 8/10/2009

My husnband and I love their Cubean Burrito. It comes with a great queso and it's plenty for two meals! Pros: Ecclectic, Local Eatery Cons: Can be loud more

If you don't like it...your too picky 3/1/2009

As someone who recently moved to the area, I have just started going to Ramsi's and love it. Ignore all the bad comments. Some people are just too hard to please. Maybe it was better, years ago, I don't no. The fact is, the food here is really good. No, it's not gormet, 5 star dining, but you're not paying for that. You can get a meal from $7 to around $20. Since we moved here last May, we have tried a lot of restaurants, and this is our favorite. We moved from Houston, where there are thousands of excellent restaurants, but we never found anything like Ramsi's. The variety, price, and quality is perfect. There is something for everyone here, even vegetarians. We had a group of 13 for my wife's birthday on 2/28/09, and everyone was pleased with their meal. The service was outstanding. We brought in a cake and they took care of that for us, even put the candles on it. They brought it out at dessert time and we all sang. Then they took the cake back, cut it up in even servings for everyone, put it on a plate, and garnished it with a sliced strawberry and strawberry sauce! We were not expecting them to go that far out of their way, especially since we were not purchasing their desserts. My wife had the tortellini and I had the fish with crab cakes, and they were both great. One person in our party had the lamb chops. He thought they were a little under cooked, but they took it back and cooked a little longer. He said they tasted really good, but still a little undercooked. Someone else had the Thai noodles and another person had the greek salad and both were enjoyed as well. That's really all I remember as specifics, but everyone did say that they were pleased with the food. I have had the Huevo chicken in the past and it is always great. The magician visiting individual tables was very nice and did not bother anyone who did not want to be entertained. Don't pay attention to the bad reviews. Only advice, do the call ahead seating if you have a group larger than 8. Pros: Good food, fun atmosphere, great service Cons: parking is a little tricky...but your ARE on Bardstown Road more

Catttt 10/21/2008

A group of six of us had dinner at Ramsi's a few nights ago. Only one of us loved our dinner - the brisket was flavorful but the patato latkes served with it were horrid and made from a mix....the rest of the food was okay - a large plate of chicken and rice was flavorless....the prices are good - just wish they would bump up the flavors in the food. Pros: Great ambiance (noisy though), great vegetables Cons: bland food, really someone in charge needs to actually taste some of these bland dishes more

Ruined by success 3/25/2008

There was a time when Ramsis Cafe on the World was the best little restaurant in the Highlands, back when Ramsi actively ran the place. But they have expanded several times since then, with each expansion diluting the service and quality of the food -- this is why I call success the kiss of death. These days, it's hit-or-miss. I too love the tortellini which usually comes out consistently good, but other dishes have, well, sucked. My advice: Peruse the menu with a critical eye and be mindful for dishes that the kitchen can't mess up. Pros: Unique and varied menu Cons: Consistency is a problem more

BEST RESTAURANT IN LOUISVILLE 12/16/2007

GREAT FOOD. TONS OF SEATING. FULL BAR. GREAT ATMOSPHERE. OPEN LATE. NEED I SAY MORE? When you are in Louisville visiting, you must visit Ramsi's. Located in the heart of the Highlands:)! Pros: Everything Cons: Sometimes you have to wait for a table... more

Terrible Service 2/18/2007

We were seated directly in front of the door when it was snowing outside. Every time the door opened the freezing wind was unbearable. Had the service been better, it may not have been so miserable. Our waitress\r ( we never got her name) was horrible, I do not understand how she continues to be employed by the service industry. Not only did she make herself scarce most of the time when she did appear, she got everything wrong. Ramsi's used to be my favorite place to go. I was utterly embarassed at the fact that this was the first time I brought my boyfriend & we were severly disappointed. We ordered a BBC Pale ALe & got a Bells Cream Stout these dont even sound the same much less look alike. The Moussa Kan was bland . The Polo Nuevo Havana should have came with a knife . A small salad & side of potatoes were six dollars extra . Entrees should come with sides . We are willing to give it another try so hopefully next time will be alot better ( We will refuse the same waitress) more

A great neighborhood place! 12/4/2005

The perfect neighborhood restaurant: The broad menu offers something for everyone (my family's favorite is the Tortallini Graciella, a lush mix of pasta, tomatoes, broccolli and mushrooms in a cream sauce, chicken or shrimp optional). The staff definately dotes on small children and the quick service means most kids can make it through the meal without a breakdown. We usually eat before 6:30 and have now wait for a table, but if you must dine during peak hours, there is a terrific bookstore next door that you can entertain the kids in until your table is ready (and the hostess will come get you when it is time to be seated). There is a large room upstairs for groups/parties. Pros: broad menu, great staff, unique character Cons: crowded at peak hours more

Consistently Great! 8/8/2005

Ramsi's is a great, unique restaurant that never disappoints. Though it has it's drawbacks, such as almost always having a wait, there's a reason for this: people love it and come back for more. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, the food is authentic and satisfying and the price is reasonable for what you get! Pros: great unique food, reasonable, neat location more

Totally Gross!!! 7/24/2005

This is one of the worst restaurants I have EVER been to! Cold food, bad food. I thought it was very expensive for a pita bread sandwich! My co-diner could barely eat her food. Lets' just sum it up and say we were extremely disappointed. more

Ramsilicious 1/24/2004

It's a full-proof, crowd pleaser. Great value thru generous portions and an interesting menu. It's awfully busy with a wait even during the week, but the bartender will gladly keep you occupied in the meantime. Beware: they don't serve liquor!!! I was shocked, but no biggie because they've got vino! The service staff is generally professional and knowledgable, but sometimes moody. more

Good Eats! 7/2/2003

Good food. I was surprised to see this restaurant listed under cheap eats, though. My seafood dish was around $15. There was plenty of food and I was stuffed! I would eat there again next year when I visit Louisville. Pros: good atmosphere, good service, not a kid place Cons: no "no smoking" area, not a kid place more

Best Restaurant in Louisville 2/20/2003

I believe this is the best restaurant in Louisville. Ramsi's has an extensive menu. You can get about anything that you want there. They are eager to help you make a choice or vary their dishes to please you. They are great about recommending entrees. My favorite entree is the Pollo Nuevo Havana chicken. This dish is fabulous. The Brie Bernadette is my favorite appetizer. The wait staff has been there for quite some time, so your service is always great. Ramsi's has a relaxed atmosphere with an eclectic twist. Pros: Great Food, Large Menu, Cozy Dining Experienc Cons: No Reservations, Parking more

Well worth the wait... 1/29/2003

Everything on the menu is excellent and there is so much to choose from all different regions of the world! And the prices are very reasonable for all the food that you get. Awesome foccacia bread, delicious CuBean burrito, filling pasta dishes, majestic sea bass, and much more. I NEVER have room for dessert. I don't know if I have ever seen any patrons eating dessert. The food is so good and plentiful there is never any room for dessert. A unique place to take out of town guests. Pros: Lots of food, Good Value, Prompt service Cons: No "no smoking" sect., Always crowded more

really tasty 1/29/2003

This restaurant keeps getting better. You can count on consistency with the food. The service is appropriate for the setting and they make you feel comfortable. My favorites are the stir fry (with both sauces) and tuna lo mein (a salad) It is in a great location (the one on bardstown road) and the owners have continued to enhance and make improvements. Pros: location, energy, food Cons: crowded, smoking more
