I am very suspicious of any positive ratings given to Rems, inc. We have rented from 7 different owners/management companies and have never had any significant troubles with management until renting from Rems. Anyone we've talked to that rented from Rems has had a similar experience. Moreover, Rems had significant communication issues with the owner of our apartment which resulted in the owner of our apartment switching management at the end of our lease, so they wouldn't be good to rent from OR hire as a property management company. They were EXTREMELY difficult to work with. I'm not sure if it's because they are dishonest or just incompetent, but either way, they WILL milk you for every penny they can. The secretary is like a bouncer that won't let you talk to any of the employees personally. She gave me answers to my questions that were contradictory to language in the lease (as did the maintenance personnel). The maintenance treated my wife as if she was stupid for calling them, then they charged us $50 for a 3 minute repair, no exaggeration. It takes many emails and calls to get a response from anyone. READ THE CONTRACT CAREFULLY and note every problem that comes up-THEY WILL CHARGE YOU!!! Then you won't get your $ back until you call/email them insistently for months or threaten legal action, and even then, they won't give you the full amount. They give unspecific and non-responsive answers to your concerns and then just expect you to give up trying because it literally will take you several months and hours to get even a portion of your money back.
