Great BBQ, great price 5/24/2011

Great ribs, meaty and tender. The jerk ribs and potato salad were very good. The BBQ ribs were tasty but the sauce was a little watery, weak. Cole slaw fresh, not too much mayo (same for potato salad). One dinner is food for two which makes the price ($12) well worth it. Usually a line but it moves fast. Next time, I plan to try the macaroni/tuna fish salad with also looked good. Food could be hotter but since it's take out you just nuke it when you get home. Friends have used them for catering which is how we heard about it. more

Day Old Dry Jerk Chicken 5/30/2010

I always had good food here till this weekend. I went in for the jerk chicken and was served two of the most driest pieces of chicken I have ever had. Could not eat them. This chicken was leftover from the day before and reheated. Unacceptable for a ten dollar entree. I Will never go there again. I really love the fish...u must try it. All types of soul food is served there. much 2 choose from. I suggest u know what u want 2 eat b4 u go in because there selection is crazy. But the only problem i have is there extremly slow!!! more

Better known as the Rockaway Fish House. This place is a local landmark that has been around for at least 30 years. Over the years the menu has grown to include a few Caribbean dishes but the strength of this place is Southern style soul food. A family run business that has given back to the community in many ways. It may lack the fine dining experience but the food is superior to the famed Sylvia's of Harlem. Fresh food with large portions. The dinners, served with two sides, could almost feed two people. The peach cobbler is the perfect end to any meal so try to save some room. They also provide quality, affordable catering. Here's an insider tip: If you ever need a ride from JFK, the promise of a take-out dinner from here should be all you need to get volunteers. more

Better than Mama's 6/30/2004

Otherwise known as the ""Fish House"" it's the best BBQ/Carribean food I've had. Unfortunately this is STRICTLY take out. If they ever open a ""sit down"" restaurant I will be one of the more frequent customers. The Candied Yams and Baked Macaroni are so good you may just begin to munch on the container. One ""dinner"" could last you for a midnight snack and lunch the next day. RCL also provide catering services and they have been in business for AGES and are well respected in the community it ""lives"" in. When you go ask for Miss Mary!   • RCL has been serving authentic Southern Food over 40 years. The founders of RCL, James and Helen Sander, are both indigenous of the south.
    Into fruition in 1972 when they opened a small fish and chips restaurant that was named Rockaway Fish House, which catered to the local residents of South Jamaica. The Sanders passion for cooking “down home soul food” gave them automatic approval throughout the community.

    The business extended into catering and party goods in 1990. At that time the Sanders decided to change the name to RCL Enterprises, which are the initials of their children’s names (Roderick, Cynthia and Lisa). This expansion has fortified RCL Enterprises in areas of Southern Food and party Favors. RCL Enterprises specialize in customizing and enhancing various events for all occasions.
