I eat at most mystery diner establishments. I will never even give this place a shot. That fat, disgusting Dee Dee should be fired and the health department should close this place down. more

I saw DeeDee on a Mystery Diners rerun today. It was disgusting seenig her the first time, when her uncle did the right thing by firing her. Did he think she would be more clean and polite hiring her back? She'll probably just go underground with her insults and unsanitary practices now that the cameras are gone. I see from the other reviews that the quality of R & O's food has gone down since Mystery Diners. Dee Dee got her wish of destroying her uncle's restaurant while still keeping her job. Will someone please post if they see Dee Dee working somewhere else so I can boycott that place too? more

We tried this place before seeing our waitress DEEDEE on TV. DeeDee played with food before serving it. This is a crime and against the law. This was on tape and why she was not arrested I will never know. And why she is still there is the biggest crime. Being a bad waitress is bad but adulterating food is a crime. She was the worse waitress we have ever encountered. more

Wow - who would even eat here after seeing that disgusting Dee Dee on Mystery Diners? Makes it worse that she still works there. Gross more

I love New Orleans. I also watch Mystery Diners. When I first saw the food I wanted to eat there, but after finding out that the disrespectful, rude, and food spoiling DeeDee got her job back, I changed my mind. I want to know that the food I eat doesn't have body fluid on it and the rest of the family should've stood up to that 'child' and let her go. I will never eat there and I will never recommend it to any one. more

Fire Dee Dee, no one will ever eat there again as long as she's there. I have already called my family and warned them about her. I'll be surprised if you last 6 months more

I would never eat at this place! If the show Mystery Diners is real...., This dump should be shut down. How many time have customers eaten contaminated food here when there are no cameras? What other body parts do they rub your food on before they serve it to you? Why let a bully come back to work for you? This place for sure will have other issues not shown on the Mystery Diners show...... the owner doesn't care or it wouldn't be this way. more

BEWARE!! Not what it used to be... 2/25/2012

Doesn't even deserve 1 star.. This used to be a HUGE family fav so we decided to eat there recently. HUGE MISTAKE. Server was extremely rude and unfriendly. We ordered a stuffed artichoke and it came to the table smashed with a BROWN soggy lemon on top and the inside was COLD...as in almost frozen cold. We were so shocked because we have never had such an awful experience there. After pulling 3 leaves out of middle, we asked the server to please take it back (it was inedible) and we would like to order some entrees. The ""manager"" came out smelling of alcohol and obviously intoxicated. His exact words... ""I will not remove this from your bill. If I go to an establishment and do not like the food I just pay for it anyways & today you will do the same. If you don't like that (as he is standing over me with his finger in my face) then you can leave and never come back here."" Then he went on to inform us (as my 3 year old is upset from him yelling at us) that he is the owners son and he is control if we refused to pay for the artichoke he would call 911 and let them deal with us!! The whole situation was so ridiculous and my daughter was so scared that we paid for all our drinks and the food we didn't even get to eat and just got out of there for our own safety. Also, note that the couple seated directly behind us said he had done the same thing to them in the past. I would NEVER return. I will NEVER recommend anyone to bring a child to eat there (unless you want them to leave scared). Worst experience of our lives by far! Shame on you R&O's! We have spent Alot of $ in that establishment over the years despite the unfriendly servers... no more. more

What Happened? 2/19/2012

My brother and I have been going to this place for years. It was always good. Their pizza sauce had a hint of pickle in it that made it unique and tasty. We went there tonight, and were given appalling food. The large pizza was the size of a medium for the same price. The server responded about it saying,""I don't know anything about that"". The flavor of the pizza was awful too. I might as well have gone to Dominoes or Papa Johns. The food was small and nasty. I assume it has new owners, because stuff like this doesn't just happen for no reason. I am never going back again. What a waste of a good restaurant. Terrible, terrible, terrible. more

Be prepared to make your own cocktail sauce! 3/15/2010

Went there for lunch this past Friday for the first time since before Katrina. I took some friends from out of town and I was embarrassed by the overall experience. The food was ok . . except for the eggplant parmesan I had from the lunch menu (don't get it!). But I was absolutely appalled at what happened when one of my friends asked for seafood cocktail sauce for his fried oysters. The waitperson brought out a small container of horseradish and said ""You'll have to add your own ketchup."" I have never ever been to a restaurant where a patron had to sit there and make their own condiments! For the prices these people charge for their dishes, they could well afford to provide the cocktail sauce pre-made! I also found the $2.50 subsitution fee a little steep when substituting potato salad for french fries! Pros: quick service Cons: see review more

Go for the Gumbo! 11/17/2006

While their pizza is certainly some of the best I've had ever (certainly the best in NO), their Gumbo is INSANE. With a blue crab at the bottom of every bowl, and the chunks of chicken and sausage, you can't go wrong. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Pros: gumbo, pizza, warm atmosphere Cons: noisy more

Great Food at a good price 6/1/2005

The focus is often on the great po' boys at R&O's but I also highly recommend their thin crust pizza. I had always eaten the R&O Po' Bpy special but one day I decided on pizza and I have never regretted it since. Waitresses are usually nice and attentive. The only issue I have is it is a family favorite and when it is crowded with loud and crying children, it can get annoying. But if you crave a great pizza or roast beef po' boy, it is worth the suffering. Pros: Tasty, Inexpensive, Large Portions Cons: Loud, Children, Parking more

Wonderful New Orleans Food 6/13/2004

R&O's is simply wonderful. Their roast beef is in my humble opinion, the best in town, with a thick dark gravy that reminds me of the roast beef at Mama Rosa's in the Quarter. (Is that still there?) The Ham po-boy is similarly excellent with good, sharp swiss cheese and french bread that is just the right consistency between soft and hard. (You know what I mean - some french bread is brittle dry and crumbly while some is doughy and rubbery) I don't eat the pizza here but my family does and the bits I've stolen from there are first rate as well. Pros: Great Po-Boys, Inexpensive, Comfortable Cons: , Crowded on Weekend more

Regret 11/18/2002

They say nothing brings back a memory more vividly than scent, and I have R&O's to thank for the memories of my youth. Nothing brings back those days like the rich scent of their roast-beef poboys, which makes my mouth water in salty anticipation. Those days when we would enjoy a piping-hot roast-beef poboy, whose dense, tender meat was brushed with a fine medley of Cajun spices, harkening our rich local heritage. Smothered in the most succulent gravy, it lay nestled in bread so soft, I thought it the stuff of clouds and dreams. Alas, those days of yesteryear have receded into oblivion, but R&O'S stands proud: a Bucktown monument standing the test of time. Now I sit alone, watching children dip jumbo shrimp in cocktail sauce, giggling as roast-beef gravy puddles at their chin, hoping they take in every sensation, every scent: the memory and meaning of life. Pros: great food, good service Cons: loud more
