Great food! Just relax and expect a wait. 3/29/2008

Top notch! Five stars for the food; Two for the decor. If you expect bland, run-of-the-mill fast-food style pizza this is not the right place to visit. If you arrive with a relaxed frame of mind and anticipate a 60 minute wait then all will be fine. Even on the busiest nights we have been served in 40 - 50 minutes. Maybe once in ten years it took 90 minutes and they brought out free bread sticks to help out. I have lived within walking distance of Pyzano's since 1997 and have always received good service be it from the younger employees or the owners. The Pizza crust is fantastic, the sause is authentic and the toppings are fresh! Call ahead to order to eat in and you'll save most of the waiting: Duh! It isn't that complicated to plan ahead. One review said something about being hidden ""up on the hill"".....not even close. It is easy to find within 100 feet of Petco which is visible from Interstate 580. Well worth a try and you will be hooked on this keeper. $$ , Noisy at times. Pros: The Food is excellent. Service is cheerful. Cons: None if you overlook the average booth decor. more

Good Pizza, but not worth the wait. 3/15/2008

Service is terrible. We waited almost 2 hours before getting served. Several tables near ours did not fare any better. Do not bring children! This is an order, pay, and then seat yourself type of place. The cashier does not tell you how long a wait it is going to be and the waiters who brings out the pizza has no idea when yours will be coming. No matter how good the pizza is (wasn't too bad) it will not be worth the aggravation. I suspect they cater to the take-out business first, which is quite substantial. Very poor management. Wonder how a place like that gets repeat business! Pros: Good pizza. Cons: Bad management. Chaotic. Very long wait. more

Wow! This place is great! 8/25/2007

We discovered this place from the Food Network. Tony one of the owners was in a Food Network challenge showcasing his pizza tossing/acrobat skills. We went there to try the pizza and wow-it was awesome! Tony was there too and truly an amazing guy! He's friendly to all the kids hoping to catch a glimpse of him doing some cool pizza trick. We ordered a couple pizzas and they were all great. His dough is absolutely perfect and everything is fresh and tastes great. Although it's hidden up on the hill in Castro Valley it's totally worth a drive from where ever you live. Tony is famous and so is his pizzas, it's definately a spot you can't miss if you live in the Bay Area. And again, WOW! The pizza is awesome! Pros: Pizza is AWESOME! Tony Gemingani is a famous pizza acrobat! Cons: It's in Castro Valley up on the hill over 580. more

Great pizza, great place! 5/24/2007

We LOVE Pyzano's! We took New Yorkers to try the New York style pizza and they thought it was absolutely great. The Cal Italia is a totally one of a kind gourmet experience. A little salty and a little sweet and very rich, don't make it your 'main course' though! The Genoa is also excellent - pesto sauce, artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes - YUM! Pros: Great pizza, fresh ingredients, fun atmosphere, coupons are offered on their website for a great value Cons: parking lot is usually pretty full, restaurant is usually pretty packed more

Great PIZZA! Great ATMOSPHERE! Great STAFF! 3/13/2007

I popped in on a Wednesday night in February & caught the Kid's night when Pyzano's Pizzeria staff teach Bay area kids how to toss pizza dough. Hilarious FUN! The big screen was tuned into NCAA basketball, and so I stayed for a medium Godfather pizza (with two types of sausage) and finished off the whole thing! Definitely a great place to pick up pizza for March Madness. I will be back ASAP! Pros: Big Screen TV, Friendly staff, Award-winning Pizza, Free Parking more

Good Times!! 1/24/2007

I have been going to Pyzano's for years, and it is a great place to take family and friends. First the food is great. You have so many choices including several different styles of pizza. My favorite would be the Stromboli pizza, but you can't go wrong with any of the New York styles or California styles. The atmosphere is fun, and the kids get a kick out of seeing the cooks toss the dough in front of thier customers. Also they have a great selection of beers on tap. Pyzano's really has something for everyone. Pros: Good Food, Fun for everyone more

Best Pizza Ever!!! 1/24/2007

Pyzano's is awesome!! I had seen the world champion pizza thrower on TV over the weekend, and realized that his restaurant was nearby. I had never been there, so I decided to give it a try. It was great. We went in with a big group, and ordered two pizzas. They had so many to choose from and several different styles. First, I'm from New York, and Pyzano's New York style is the closest to what I grew up with I have had in California. We also had the Cal Italia pizza, and it was on of the best pizzas I have ever had. I can see why it won a gold medal on the Food Network. Any one who hasen't had Pyzano's, should go soon. Pros: Great Food, Freindly Counter Service more

Best pizza anywhere in the Bay Area 1/3/2007

I live in San Francisco but I drive out to Pyzano's once a month for my monthly taste of the best pizza in the bay area. Pyzano's specialty pies are the best in the bay and watching the pizza acrobatics by the world's best pizza thrower is all the gravy I need to make the trip. Pros: best tasting pizza, pizza throwers, video games Cons: far from San Francisco more

good atmosphere 8/9/2006

I've been going to Pyzanos since it opened, and I've always been satisfied with the pizza. Really fun place to go. more

BAD customer service 3/5/2006

Pizza is average, actually in my opinion, way overrated. As mentioned in another review, the wait staff are teenagers and let me tell you, it shows! We had unbelievably rude reception/service and they were out of 3 of the 4 things we wanted to order. The staff is so young that they have no concept of customer service and theyre so rude we will never return. There are many other better options for pizza. Pros: location Cons: staff, staff, staff more

Average 7/4/2005

Pyzano's has average pizza but for some reason it is more expensive than other pizza places. I wouldn't run away from this pizza but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat their pizza again. Cons: Expensive more

Pyzano's is great 1/27/2005

You might think that pyzano's is just an average pizzeria, but it's NOT! They have delicious pizza of many varieties with many different toppings, cheeses and sauces to choose from. Don't just order a pepperoni though, get one of their more interesting pizzas, they are very delicious! The restaraunt is mostly staffed by teenagers but don't let that stop you, they are mostly friendly and the service isn't great but it's not too bad either. Personally I don't like the tv's and cheap seeming booths in the restaraunt, but there is takeout. The side orders and salads are all really good too. It would be a great place to go with friends or family, and like I said you can takeout too. Pros: good pizza more
