New Years Eve 2013 at Providence will be epic! Open bar starts at 9PM so get there by 9:05 at the latest. This place is huge so plenty of room to dance and mingle with a great group of old and soon-to-be friends. 3/4's of the tickets are already gone so get the remaining few now at NYETIX2013,com more

Providence: Too Rude for Me 7/4/2010

I used to think Providence 57 was an upscale place. As someone living uptown, I really appreciated having a real dance club a short cab ride from the UES. I now have come to feel disappointed and even angered by the attitude coming from the staff. The guy who takes your $20 at the door doesn't even look at you, say thank you or respond if you say ""hello."" The drag-queen who stamps your arm is surprisingly rude. If fact, this past week, ""she"" carelessly stamped my palm without even looking at me or where ""she"" was stamping. I said, ""Please stamp my wrist, I expect to go in and out of the club."" ""She"" proceeded to stamp up my forearm multiple times and make a hand gesture for me to ""run-off now, I'm done with you."" Combine these two characters with bartenders that serve you when they want to acknowledge you, makes going there a disappointment. It saddens me really that the owners don't seem to value a good customer and allows employees to act the way they do. If you're going to run an upscale club, or any club for that matter, employees need to be trained to interact with respect. Pros: Nice Space Cons: Rude Employees more

Good times 7/25/2009

I have been to this club a few times and have never been disappointed. Most recently, was there last night. Loved the music! Other things, like prices for cover and drinks, i think are typical club prices. The drinks are made well, and not watered down like i've experienced elsewhere. Granted, i always get there early enough to avoid cover charges and huge lines, so i dont know what happens at that time of the night outside, but inside is a good time :) Oh my only issue was that a few of my friends had called and were told no jeans or sneakers for guys, but yet there were guys wearing jeans and sneakers(and not classy ""prada"" sneakers either!!!)! Pros: music more

From a neighbor 3/11/2009

I live in the neighborhood and have been here many times with tourist guests and just my girlfriend, it is amazing. You have no idea how beautiful it is inside from the sidewalk, but the place is huge! The food has been excellent every time I've dined, and it is extremely reasonably priced, the prix fixe is 40$ or something and available on the weekends, which is unusual, but good if you're just hungry. The only thing is that they don't seat very late on the weekends, due to their club that opens later, but I like the club also, so it's no big deal. Seems to be getting a rap from some clubbers and people who want 3 courses in 60min, but it's definitely a great restaurant, especially for the area. Pros: Food, ambiance and value Cons: Limited seating on weekends more

HORRIBLE BIRTHDAY EXPERIENCE 3/8/2009

I booked my birthday here with a club promoter: JAMES SCOTT. We talked about a week in advance about the whole event and he told exactly what i should expect, which was: my own guestlist, free bottle of champagne (since i had 10+ people), and no waiting in line when we arrive. WELL, NONE OF THIS WAS GRANTED. I arrived with my friends at 11pm went to the bouncers and told them i booked my party here and had a guestlist..they told me they didnt know the club promter and didnt care that it was my bday and to get in line like everyone else! They were extremely rude and kept yelling ""i dont care who you know or who you're with get in line"". SO my friends decided to get in line while i called Mr. Scott to complain bc WTF?! its my birthday! He tells me his sidekick JEN will come out and get me. SO..while we're waiting for Jen to come out which takes forever..we manage to get to the front of the line. The short bouncer starts flirting with my friend and because i was upset that NOTHING WAS GRANTED AS PROMISED AND BECAUSE OF THE EXTREMLY RUDE BOUNCERS i said ""yea she likes midgets anyway""...and well that was a wrap. He said ""get off the line..no one is getting in"" FINALLY this Jen girl comes out and i tell her the story and instead of helping me she just chilling with me and my friends!!!\r Worst experience in NYC club...ive been to a lot better places...tenjune, mansion, guesthouse and have never been treated like that. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS FOR PARTYING AND ESPECIALLY FOR BIRTHDAYS. AND IF JAMES SCOTT AKA J.SCOTT INVITES YOU....RUN!!!!! Cons: bouncers, promoters, staff more

Horrible Experience 3/5/2009

Well how can I start this? I am a person (leaving name out) of importance in PA\r I made reservations to Providence around 8:30. I loved how eloquent it looked and the privacy me and my wife had here. We sat down and looked over the menu. Since we just came from Stout's and had a little snack and drinks before Providence we decided that we would take the 3 course meal. I would eat the main dish and she would eat an appetizer. She gets the appetizer which was done fancy but my wife didn't like it because they used some kind of mayonnaises on the salad. The time was around 8:50 when she got the salad. I ordered her some calamari, which came out in 7 minutes and was good. We had some drinks and around 9:35 I finally got my barbeque chicken (1 hour and 5 minutes later after a RSVP). Anyway I cut the chicken and it had no flavor and tasted like it wasn't done. I immediately told the waitress after I had a bite to eat, that it had no flavor and it tasted like it wasn't cooked. Here is the kicker, she asked me if I wanted anything else and I declined. She brings me the check 10 minutes later and walks away immediately. I look at the check and they gave me a discount on 1 drink (yes 1 drink free). When she comes back over I ask her to speak to the manager. A manager comes to the table 10-15 minutes later, being real cocky. I tell him about all the events you just read. He tells me I have eaten all the food here and it tastes fine to me. I go back and forth with him about his taste, which are not like mine and don't you and should you always agree with the customer and show some respect to them if they have a complaint. I was ready to walk out the whole place but paid my bill anyway because I didn't want to get arrested in NY. But I will say this, would I recommend anyone to eat at the lavish, expensive restaurant. THE ANSWER IS HELL NO.\r \r PS: The only good thing about this place is, the CLUB was excellent and I had a ball with my wife. more

One of NY's Best Rest... 10/19/2008

One of New York?s best restaurant.....I love it. The service was superb. Food is exceptionally presented & prepared. When I first walked into the restaurant, I wasn't very impressed with the decor,it's very simple. But when you enjoy the first dish you'll love this place!\r I ordered the curried lobster tail, the best lobster ever had before. \r It is a MUST place to celebrate a special occasion. like we did!\r Pros: music, food, service more

-100% customer service 6/1/2008

Pros: music Cons: customer service more

Great atmosphere & food. 12/9/2007

Sal the manager is wonderful. Very attentive. \r Great atmosphere! It used to be an old church and is just beautiful. Wonderful for large groups. Food is very good, nice selection. We were promptly seated. Service was very good. Pros: Ambience & Sal the manager Cons: nothing I can think of at this time more

Worse customer service; Unneeded arrogance; 11/12/2007

Here the story goes..\r I emailed a promoter to help me set up a party of 20 (mixed guys and girls) where everyone can get in free. I originally planned to go to Duvet but the promoter steered us to go to Providence where they do not have the annoying guy/girl ratio policy and that all my guests from my guestlist can get in free and even cut the line before midnight. On that night, a bunch of us got there at 10:30pm. I got in line first and the rest of my friends were behind me and then heard the guestlist lady say ""all of us are comped"". Cool. until afterwards, my few of my guy friends said they actually paid $20. I was really upset so I went to the lady and asked why my friends paid.. and she goes ""well we can't guarantee you what the promoter said..it's the management's discretion.. plus your guy friends were wearing jeans and they didnt' have dates"". I was thinking ""wtf"", and told her what the promoter had offered us and even showed her his email from my blackberry.. then she said when the promoter gets here.. she'll see what she can do.. i knew the promoter was gonna be there any minute but i still waited for 15 minutes.. to give them some time.. so i went out.. and foudn the promoter.. then he was giving me the same BS.. like he didnt konw they'll change the policy.. it's total BS. BUT he said he'll give me a free bottle of liquor in 15 minutes and come down to look for me..that cooled me down a little and then to realize not only did my other friends who came afterwards STILL paid $20 but he didn't come down to look for me.. and this was after an HOUR.. so i went up to complain again.. and told the lady to have the rest of my friends comped and she goes ""i have been nice to you.. but you are starting to annoy me"" first off she has NOT been nice even when we first got there.. to end this story. i finally did get my free bottle after endless complaints.. Pros: Ambiance; Decent DJ Cons: Very poor service; dishonest/shady policy; Small drinks; Crowd is below average looking. more

Most unique place to go in NYC 8/31/2007

Providence is such a unique place and I haven't been anywhere in NYC like it. I had a great experience with the staff and they were very accommodating. Music was unbelievable - There are two dj's spinning in two rooms so you get the best of both worlds! Who could ask for more. more

Classy, Beautiful Atmosphere, Great Food, Just Fun Downstairs 4/16/2007

Four of us ( two couples) went for my Birthday. I'm a fashionable, good looking thirty something, a born and raised New Yorker that did alot of clubbing in the early 00's. I'm a chef. The service was clean and elegant looking, the waiter was efficient. There was a warm yet opulent feeling to the main dining room. Drinks were strong ( a plus in my circle!). Two of us had the fixed menu, and had the mussles, which were slammin', and the Seared Tuna- verry good. Everything else we had was all outstanding. The owner came over and was friendly. We went downstairs. I just wanted to dance, and really wasn't concerned about people watching, (I absolutely refused to wait on any line, as I never, ever did when I was clubbing!) The music was sufficient, yet not overly impressive, and I thought it could've had a more decipherable difference between floors, as the evening progressed. We took off -overly confident that we'd get in somewhere else - uhh... we ended up back there in 30 minutes, and we walked right back in, with no problem because we were there for dinner (there was a line outside, but not for us!) All in all, the night was a success, and I highly reccomend this place to eat, and drunkin dancing with friends! (Lots of dark corners for being a little naughty!) ( Did I just write that??) Pros: Food, interior, all purpose partying Cons: young, silly clientelle more

Horrible Bartender & Customer Service 4/16/2007

I just recently had a birthday party here with a guest list of about 60. This was confirmed several times with a promoter over the course of the last few months. When we arrived, we were made to wait outside while they cleared out some of the people that were there for a party before mine, no big deal- They said they would extend our hours as we had open bar for 3 hours for $45. Anyways, once they started to let us in they would only let in 10 people at a time and once I, the host was inside the bar, they stopped letting in other guests that were on my list and told them they needed to wait on the regular line which of course wasn't moving!! So several of my guests were turned away. Once we were inside, the female bartender on the top floor was extremely rude to us and would barely serve us. When you asked for shots, she would state that they were not included in the special (which we already knew) and then walk away from us when we were willing to pay for the shots- BAD SERVICE!!!! I would never plan another party there nor would I go back as the drinks are very expensive and the bartender really turned me off!! more

I'm totally surprised.... 3/22/2007

by all the negativity. I've been here four times, three for the club and once for the restaurant and I've always been impressed by the place. The security there has never given me a problem, but then I've never given them a reason to. I typically go for table service with six or so people, and each time it was quick and easy. The crowd and staff is pretty good looking, the DJ's have rocked every time, so I love the place. It's a bit far uptown for me, but that's not a real issue. And the restaurant was beautiful and food excellent. I work in the industry in Manhattan, and consider this place a real success. Pros: Line system, staff, decor Cons: NA more

If you are looking to get an STD this is the place to hook up! 2/10/2007

It is my first and last time going to club providence. I am surprised that such a sh*t hole can stay in business in NYC. The music s*cks, the drinks are watered down and the \r bouncers look like crackheads. Go at your own risk!!! more

flat out, the worst venue in new york city, 2/3/2007

whatever you do, do not go, or try to host a party at providence / triumph room. these guys were the worst most unprofessional a-holes that i've ever met. guestlists and everything were sent in ahead of time, and confirmed twice. but when we got there, they said the guestlists were overbooked, and made everyone wait outside in the line (hour plus wait, in the freezing rain). even the person who's party it was, they wouldn't let in. the manager and bouncers were pretty rude, and pretty arrogant. all that tag line about ""no more velvet ropes, for people who just want to dance."" is the biggest piece of crock out there. they had velvet ropes with everyone forced to stand outside (hour plus), in the freezing weather. most peope just gave up and went home. so if you are planning on throwing a party that is meaningful at all to you, don't go to this place because they are going to absolutely ruin it. this is bar none the worst club/venue that i have been to in new york city. Pros: nice pictures on the website Cons: screwed up guestlist, a-hole and incompetent manager and bouncers, worst club in new york more

Ridiculous 1/13/2007

I went for a friends birthday and we were on her guest list. the line was OUTRAGEOUS and after waiting for almost an hour, it hadn't budged. i found my friends closer to the front who had been there for TWO hours. after all that, we had to pay $20 because the guest lists were ""over"". \r \r All of this would be understandable if the place was at all packed. We went down into the nightclub section and it could actually be described as ""empty."" Drinks were astronomical and the $75 minimum for credit/debit (plus an automatic 20% gratuity) was completely ludicrous. The music downstairs was mediocre, and upstairs it was slightly beter but still not even close to making up for the drawbacks of this place. All I could think about was everyone outside being forced to wait, expecting a full, exciting, fun club and how disappointed they'd be, once the bouncers deigned to let them in. Pros: Nice looking place Cons: Everything else about it more

Fantastic food 11/27/2006
