They don't do as Agreed to 4/1/2012

I am taking care of my brothers finances since he is truck driver and can't do it on the road. He has several accounts past due so one of them contacted Prompt Services to collect a debt. They agreed to a certain amount as full payment if it was paid by the end of the month. I called them to approve to taken out a certain amount and they told me it would be done on the last day of the month. By paying this 'agreed' amount it would be considered 'full amount paid' so we saved over $200. When I checked my account...they only took out the 'payment' amount that I didn't not agree to. I called them and left a message twice...have not heard back from them yet. Also...when I asked them to send me a 'confirmation' email they said it would cost $10.00 extra dollars for an email...UNREAL! They are also charging a 'fee' besides the full amount which is rediculous but the amount was lower than the full amount that my brother owed. Now that I've read all these complaints about them I have a feeling I am going to have trouble with them. I will contact a Lawyer IF they don't take out the correct amount that I have authorized to pay them. Sjdebold more

Unfortunately, times have been tough and I've gotten behind on my bills. It's been difficult getting harrassed by a variety of collection agencies but I have to acknowledge that Prompt Recovery Services, and in particular, Mike Miller, has been more professional and accomodating than the others... BY FAR! \r \r I can't even believe that I'm compelled to write a review about a collection agency but the others have been a disgrace to humanity... kudos for not stooping to their level. more

Like the two others that have written before me I've had the same type of problems. It's been over 2 years that they had a case with me. I paid the full amount but they wanted more. I tried talking to several managers but they would all be fired before they confirmed that I did not owe anything. They are a very shaddy company. Cons: Take your money and want more of it. Rude more

Scam - BEWARE! 11/18/2008

This is a collection company with VERY shady practices. Whatever you do, if you are going to pay them, make sure you pay them with a check so you have proof you paid. I paid them with a check through my bank and they deny receiving payment even though my bank has provided them with a copy of the cashed check, endorsed by them. Also, I was told I would receive a letter stating I paid by ""Renee"" the manager. She refused to provide me with the letter. I spoke with Joe Brooks, her boss, and he refused to provide me with the letter also, unless I paid an additional $15. No legitimate company does this. They were also extremely rude to both me and the lady from my bank who called them. Both Renee and Joe hung up on me, and Renee left several threatening voicemails on my work voicemail. Cons: Scam company, will take your money and refuse to acknowledge it more

This supposed business began calling me regarding a past debt of the previous owner of my business. I explained the situation to them and promptly made payment on the previous owner's behalf. I did end up receiving the payment from the previous owner. Three months later, they began to call me again demanding additional interest and penalty for the company they were supposedly collecting for. The collector, called ""Mr. White"", was rude and demanding when I explained what happened. I informed him I would take this issue up with the originating company to have it resolved. He continued to call and harass me on almost a daily basis. After speaking with the originating company and they calling Prompt, I assumed the issue was resolved once again. But ""Mr. White"" continued to call. When I spoke with him last and explained that it had been taken care of, he refused to believe me. After speaking to his supervisor, a woman named ""Renee"", she informed me it was taken care of. I asked for a letter from her company verifying this for fear of additional harassing calls and she refused and hung up on me. Need I say more about the unethical practices of this company? Cons: ALL THUMBS DOWN more
