We are new to Santa Fe and refrigerated air, and our 3 yr old unit was not performing as we felt it should. Folks around here must know how good these guys are, as it took over a month to get a non-emergency appointment. In the mean time, we had another company come out that was here in two days, but their visit was worthless. They basically told us to turn the thermostat down lower, and left. The real story is that the HVAC unit that the builder installed (this was a former model home) was the smallest unit it could be and still be used on the house. The technician, once he had tested the usual stuff up on the roof and found no issues, took the time to inquire about the size of the house, and called back to the office to get an opinion on the appropriate size of unit for a house of this size, which is 4 tons. The builder installed a 2.5 ton unit, so it struggles to keep the place cool on hot days, which is the main time you want it! So, we learned what we wanted to from the experience, that the unit was functioning well and needed no maintenance. If we want the place to stay cool, we need to have it set to come on as soon as it gets above the set point, and not let the house heat up, expecting that once we do turn it on, it will cool down quickly. We would definitely call these folks again if we have a real problem with our system.
