Pro Nails

I love this salon. I live in the neighborhood, and my entire household (me and my three roommates) go to this salon every other week. I've been here about a dozen times and can speak to the consistency of service: they are consistently amazing. more

I live in Oak Park but I worked downtown Chicago. I'm very picky about my nails so I usually get my nails done downtown but today I just felt like going somewhere close to home. I didnt even realize Pronails was a few blocks away. The shop looked amazing, so relaxing and modern. The lady at the desk greeted me very kindly. I didn't even have to wait! Christine did my pedicure and manicire and eyebrows and she did such a great job. She was very thorough throughout the whole process. I have multiple calluses on my feet because I'm a runner and she made sure she smoothed them down without my asking. We had a great conversation and it made me feel comfortable to know I wasn't ""just another client"". She made sure my water was warm enough for both my Mani and Pedi. Usually I don't trust people with my eyebrows because they always make them too thin too thick or just uneven but Christine did a great job. Afterwards, she sat me at the dryer and made sure I was okay before she left. All in all this place gave me an excellent first impression. The people were nice and so was the decor and pedi chairs. I can't help being shocked by one of the reviews on here! I think the girls who work there are very well trained in their profession. Friendly staffs treat you better than other nail salons I have been to in the area. They truly are interested in repeat business and provide the quality service to accomplish that. Prices are comparable to other salons in the area, but the service is better. Make an appointment or you may be waiting for a while due to this salon's popularity. Great service! Taya did an awesome job. I am very picky about who handles my hands and feet. First time at this location and plan on using them exclusively. Great decor and exceptional cleanliness. Very relaxing environment, and everyone was very friendly, especially Taya, who's friendliness and focus made me feel very welcome. I would and will recommend them to everyone. I am new to Chicago. I found Pro nails 2 on line. I got a new set and the following week I broke a nail because they were to thin. My pink and white nails started to turn yellow. When I went back in to get a fill the tech told me that my nails were turning yellow because I was in the water to much. Well I have had pink and white nails for about 2 years and that has never happened. My nails are turning yellow because they are using cheap gel. I also broke the same nail because it are to thin again. more

They are just OK~I have been going here off and on for years, and they are worse now, even with their new decor. I try to stay consistent, but the last girl I went to I had to quit because her attitude was always bad, she always managed to cut me and the overall salon service was bad. (Throwing your purse and shoes, and rushing off to someone else without even checking to insure that you are satisfied with the job they did for you!) I know people want to get in and out, but the staff is so rude in this place. When I was in there this last time, a lady was complaining because her nails broke less than a week after having a new set put on and the same girl charged her for the repairs. I didn't say anything, because it wasn't my situation, but I agree with the customer here. Why should she have to pay again, when her new nails didn't last a week!! She offered to pay half, but the technician gave her some half assed excuse. ALSO, the salon opened at 11am, but the techinicians didn't start coming in until 11:30, so the salon girl just had all these people SOAKING for 30 minutes!!! I have been to this salon three times, and there will be no more visits! When I visited to have old acrylic nails removed and replaced, the manicurist instead put on a 'powder gel' nail (for the requested french manicure style). I repeatedly said, this is different than the last place that I went- you put on the gel first here? And she nodded, yes. I continued to talk about how I never painted my nails in the past because I work with my hands and they always looked bad a couple of days after painting- which was why the acrylics were so much better for me, they were indestructible. She just nodded and continued. When she started to paint my nails, I realized that she was doing exactly what I had not wanted. Oh, well, I thought, it was just a language problem- a one-time waste of money. I thought, next time, you must be very, very clear. Pros: Was close to home. Oh well. Will now go elsewhere. I'm so happy my friend recommended this place to me because it is exceptionally better than the place by my apt that I have been going to. This place is much cleaner, the atmosphere nicer and my nails lasted way longer. Which, let's be honest is the best part about my experience b/c it makes it worth every penny. I got a set of acrylic nails and the lady rushed doing them. Only took her about 35 minutes. She used tips that were too wide for my fingers so they look like duck bills. She also made them very thick which makes them look really fake. She did not manicure my hands at all before doing the acrylics (like pushing cuticles down or cutting off hangnails). She used an electric round nail file to ""saw"" off the cuticles and left 2 of them cut with open wounds. She was very rough too and kept pulling on my fingers in strange directions. I had to come home and file down all 10 of the nails because they were too long and gaudy even though I told her and showed her how long I wanted them. Also I told her I wanted them square with rounded edges and she proceeded to clip the top corners off of each nail so they ended up looking pointed. Overall, terrible!!! I would NEVER go back to this place. Sure it was cheap at $23 but now I am stuck with these hideous things on my hands. She needs to take more time, listen to the customer and avoid injuring their hands!
