This is honestly one of the worst steakhouses I've ever been to. I went here last night for a company holiday dinner. The bartenders were friendly and the drinks were good, so at least there was that. However, upon ordering the Japanese pepper-crusted filet I was told ""It will be medium"". There was no arguing. My friend ordered the ""corn-fed"" rib-eye and asked for it to be well-done. The waiter said he could only have it medium. more

Upper West Side Gem 2/17/2011

I am kosher and live on the upper west side and I have been waiting forever for something like Prime KO. Let me explain a few things first about myself. I do eat at non kosher restaurants and I do like to go out to fun spots downtown, but to get my meat fix and have an awesome nightlife experience I had yet to find something near where I live - until now... Prime KO is such a wonderful spot for all the above reasons and more. I tried numerous amounts of dishes since opening and every dish gets better and better. A few of my favorites are: Tartar assortment, kobe beef sliders, gyu kakani (no joke the braised beef in this dish melted in my mouth) and the Shabu Shabu. What is great about this restaurant is that you can sit upstairs if you want something a little more intimate and quieter or you can sit downstairs if you want to listen to the DJ (I believe only there on Thursday and Saturday nights) and hang out with friends. Its fun, neighborhoody and always has something going on - I have actually seen a few random celebrities there! Service is great and the general manager always makes me feel important, which is so key to a diners experience! more

amazing food without the crazy prices 2/2/2011

very cool decor. sit downstairs if you can. friendly waitress, amazing hot appetizers (try the sliders and buffalo chicken). fun entrees (shabu shabu) with very good steaks (i had the L bone which tasted as good as prime grill). amazing french fries!!!!!!! interesting (in a good way) desserts very different than standard kosher desserts. more

More than Just Kosher 6/16/2010

Came here with my boyfriend after a movie, not really expecting much - I hadn't really checked the place out beforehand, it was its proximity to the theater that made us come in. I was completely blown away! Let's start with the decor - the restaurant itself is gorgeous. The atmosphere is hip and cool, the maitre'd welcomed us like family, and the waiters were helpful and knowledgeable. The bar is well stocked, with high end liquors, amazing wines (yes, Kosher wine - amazing does exist, apparently!). The cocktails are tasty and inventive, and the food - oh, the food - is absolutely delicious! The fish is fresh, the meat is sublime, and the desserts were absolutely amazing (I'm a total sweets lover and the chef here is a freakin' genius!). I'll be back-with friends, family, or maybe by myself - it really is just that good! Pros: Great bar, beautiful restaurant, amazing food Cons: None! more

Great addition to the upper west side 6/15/2010

I met a friend for sushi and drinks at Prime KO on a Thursday night and I was blown away. We arrived around 9:30 and the downstairs was ""poppin."" The restaurant has a DJ that plays every Thursday - apparently he used to play at Buddha Bar in the meatpacking (I went over and got his card - he was great.) We sat in an area behind the bar that still had a private feel to it. We ordered the Katsu Maki with truffle oil - lets just say out of this world! The Sake was great and I will definitely be back soon. I love Prime KO! Pros: Fun atmosphere with great food more
