My experience with this company has been very negative so far. I signed up with them through the Affordable Care Act. They were quick to contact me for payment the first week in January (three weeks before my coverage was due to take affect). I signed up the end of December and still can't get an insurance card from them that has the correct primary care provider information. My plan went into affect on February 1. I had multiple problems being seen by a doctor because this company didn't have my primary care choice selection set up and I had additional problems getting my prescriptions filled. Because of their lack of response, I couldn't see a doctor until halfway into February. They are refusing to refund me for the first few days that I had no access to the services. It has been over two months and still no card for me. Every time I call them, I have to leave my number for them to call me back and that usually takes 3-4 days. I confirmed my primary care choice provider on 4 different occasions and they still sent my card with the incorrect information. I finally spoke with two different people who promised to overnight me a new corrected insurance card but neither one of them followed up or did what they promised. When you call, all you get is a call center that doesn't help anyone. The rep from the call center told me that the Preferred Medical Plan Company doesn't like to deal with the calls so that is why they were hired. It is actually just an answering service they have set up. I couldn't even pay my premium today on the phone. Instead I have to wait for one of their people to call me back. What a joke. They may call me back today since it is for a payment. I find them to be unreliable and irresponsible. I have done everything I can think of to fix this issue. I am now looking to start all over again to reapply on the government website so I can sign up with a different provider. These people return your calls sometimes but they aren't at all helpful. I unfortunately have heard from a lot of doctor offices that they refuse to accept The Preferred Plan insurance because they don't pay on claims.\r more

Total frustration. I can understand the good reviews, because I decided on this plan thanks to the good service my sister in law received from them. Sadly for me the experience is terrible. I have been trying to contact this people for 14 days. I paid for the insurance and have not received the ""welcome package"" they said I would receive a week ago. All I get from customer service is that everyone is busy, busy, busy. I hope if they have an emergency they do not get that from whoever is giving them service. About calling you back, good luck with that! I truly believed this was a respectable company, I am totally frustrated. more

This HMO provides incredible service, the customer service employees couldnt be any more compassionate and caring. They helped me with all my needs while I had tremendous anxiety about the surgery i needed. Trust this HMO with your health. more

AVOID this company at all costs. I have wasted countless hours being on hold, being hung up on and not being called back by customer service. They are masters of creating red-tape and wasting time. Customer service is absolutely terrible and the ""network"" of doctors is a complete joke. Save time and money - AVOID Preferred Medical Plan. more

From customer service always very caring and helpful,Dr.Fox the surgent(Cynthia her assistant) ,Dr.Nabut,Dr.Villar and her staff,Westchester Hospital and their staff,Doral Radiation the Doctor and all the staff. All top notch professionals. Dr.Fox took time over the weekend to call my wife and see how she was doing after the surgery. Dr.Fox most of all and all the other Doctors have given me back faith in healthcare. Thank you Perferred Medical Plan. more

Preferred Medical has been my insurance for the past 2 years. I really couldnt be happier. The doctors on the plan are very knowledgable and pleasant. Their customer service is great! I have never been dissapointed when ive had to call them. more

Preferred Medical has THE worst customer service 9/21/2011

I am in shock with Preferred's customer ""service"" (I hesitate to even use that word). I am an applicant and trying to schedule a physical exam to complete the application process has taken me 7 hours, countless phone calls, speaking with 9 different people and I was hung up on twice!! Now this is ""simply"" the application process...I can not and WILL NOT stick around to find out how awful everything else is. Especially after reading other bad reviews online. Do your research before going with any company...I was recommended to Preferred and am so happy that I did not complete the application process. Now I just have to work on getting my deposit back! What an awful, stressful and time consuming experience. Don't give them your money, it's not worth it!! more

Works as it should 7/25/2011

I have had coverage for over 7 years with Preferred and they have been great! It is very affordable and covers all the care I have needed. Like most insurance, you hope you never really need it. But I feel comfortable with Preferred and they have always been there for me, so I highly recommend their services. more

Worst Insurance!! 8/3/2010

Well I took this insurance through my employer at an affordable price. I didn't think I would need to use it much but wanted to have health care in case one day I needed it. Well 5 month after enrolling in the plan, I had to visit the DR with a minor but irritating problem. The DR was not great and his staff much less. Ok, so I got through that experience. Turns out - I had to be referred to a specialist for my problem. To make a long story short. The referral process took 3 weeks, countless calls to no avail to PREFERRED and when asked to speak to a supervisor to get results, no one could seem to patch me through to one. I was desperate and in pain, my appointment came and PREFERRED DENIED my referral stating I had a PREEXISTING condition (which was not true). When I questioned their decision they said that I had to submit it in writing. I mean, I was shocked and now I wonder why I paid so much money for medical insurance when I could have saved it and paid out of pocket like I'm doing now. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE and STAFF. They only want your money and not to take care of anyone, no wonder their primary focus is MEDICAID- they are probably milking the system for all it's worth. SHAMEFUL! Pros: Affordable Cons: Not worth it more

Rude and uncaring staff and doctors that as soon as they look your way are working on limiting their spending on your care and not thinking how to make you better. That is if you get to see a doctor. Preferred has been my HMO since I was 5 years old under my parents enrollment now I'm 32 and a father of two beautiful young girls and they too benefit from the great Drs and hospitals that are on the Preferred network. Give them a try if your not happy with what your HMO has done for you or lack of, they have all types of plans even Medicaid ones. Pros: Excellent Drs, Hospitals and Customer Care Cons: None "Really" more
