It was my first experience at this place. I'm sure the workmanship is excellent but my first impression is that they don't charge any less but their public areas could use a once over. I saw mouse traps and the place was filthy. Maybe not much done to that area of the shop since it opened. The work was done by the owner while I waited and he was efficient and good and I was charged less than I expected to change the headlight bulb. When we went inside to pay I became both disturbed and hurt when he interrupted our transaction to help a white male customer who came in to drop off his vehicle. If it had been quick - just a passing off of the keys and I'll call you when we know... it would have been fine. But it was a longer exchange then warranted keeping me waiting. Something told me that this customer had priority over me - and I got the distinct sense it was because of the color of my skin and possibly my gender. Not a great way to start the day or a new relationship with an auto repair shop. Re-born and Expert Auto are great shops and I may just drive a little further to have a better experience. I was trying to continue to work with the shop that has serviced the car I bought for the past 5 years. more

THESE GUYS ROCK. And this is well overdue. I found them through an internet search when I got my Westy in 2008. They are excellent at diagnostics and clearly love what they do and the cars they work on. They have done a lot of work on my van and nothing they've repaired has ever failed a second time. Speedy, reasonably priced, great to work with. They've gone the extra mile with me more than once, most notably when they tried to help me problem-solve a failed transmission that stranded me in northern California. Love these guys, going to go Yelp them now, should have done this years ago. more

I've taken my VW Golf to a lot of mechanics around town and Precision Motor Car is by far the best. They are honest and friendly and do a great job. I'm a customer for life. more

Best VW Mechanic in town! 6/22/2009

I've been taking my VW to precision for about 5 years now- prior to that, I tried just about every other VW shop in town and never had much luck. Darrell at Precision knows VWs inside and out, and he's always willing to help me find a workaround for the weird problems my car has. Pros: Fair pricing, honest, very knowledgable more

Knowledgeable and on time, but inaccurate estimate 5/14/2008

What the gas flap on my VW beetle stopped responding to the release button, the filling station where I was offered to fix it. When I asked for an estimate, they said they would have to figure out what was wrong first and they had no idea. I called Precision Motor Car (a close-in shop that works only on VW and Audi) and they knew exactly what was wrong and gave me an estimate on the spot. I was thrilled! Unfortunately, the day of my scheduled service, they called me back and said the parts were more expensive than anticipated (one part more than triple what they had estimated!). They had estimated $120 for labor, $35 for the motor, $16 cable, $29 switch if needed. It ended up being $120 labor, 45.40 for the motor, $48 for the cable!! (and the switch wasn't needed, fortunately). Darrel seemed truly apologetic about the price increase on the parts. On the upside, they got my car back the same day and there were no surprises. I will try them again. Pros: Knowledgeable, on time Cons: inaccurate estimate of parts cost (based on only one experience); did not save part to show me more
