I think a home inspector is probably the most important key to buying a home. If your spending 100's of 1000's of dollars for a piece of property you sure want to know what you are buying. We were referred to Precision Home Inspection of America from 3 of our friends that had used them. They raved about them and the fact that they sent two inspectors to complete the inspection. We had names of other inspection companies given to us by the real estate agent to call as well. All together we called 4 inspection companies and when I called Precision I spoke to one of the owners whose name is Hank. He explained the whole inspection process to me which made me feel more confident in their ability. The other people I called just asked how big the property was and gave me a fee and really didn't explain anything. We did our homework and wanted an independent home inspector to do our home inspection. We felt it didn't make sense to hire an inspector recommended by the agent because the agent wants us to buy the house .... dah. We looked through various search engines and came across as it turns out a one of a kind company. This is the third time we have used a home inspector and this company was so much better than the other two it was amazing. They send two inspectors that do a very thorough inspection. Their report is very comprehensive and they are always available for consultation. The 2 books they provide with their inspection were very informative and useful. I highly recommend them. more

These guys know their stuff. If you want to get a thorough inspection by real professionals this is the company. Sending two inspectors is what sold me. They were meticulous and the report was inclusive. The books were very useful and we have recommended them to several people. more

They seem professional...for the most part. However they were not very thorough and missed many key and expensive items that were found later by a second inspection. They failed to check all the appliances (fridge and washer/dryer). In the report they are more worried about covering for themselves than the quality of the work for example the water pipe "may be leaking but is hard to get to" and one of the appliances they never checked "appears serviceable". It is an appliance so I guess it is serviceable but....is it working? For the amount they charge $500+ depending on the home, they provide the services associated with a basic home inspector ($125) who for a quarter of the cost would probably do a better job. Not at all what you expect from an engineers report. Also, they claim to be 200% guaranteed, until you tell them you are unhappy and want your money back, then the story changes very quickly into "I explained your concerns so you should now be happy".
