Even tiny customers treated like royalty 8/24/2010

My daughter and I are doing a tiny first-time tiling project, with an equally minuscule budget. We've been to Pratt & Larson a number of times to comb the outlet store for bargain tiles, and I have been happily astonished by the kindness, friendliness and helpfulness of the entire P&L staff. They know they're going to make no money from us, yet we are treated as if we are tiling every surface of our home inside and out. Such outstanding service (not to mention the huge and fabulous selection of gorgeous tiles) serves as a model to be emulated by any other business claiming a customer-driven orientation. Thanks, Pratt & Larson! more

Amazing high-quality service and products 3/23/2010

I bought a cosmetic ""fixer-upper"" close-in in NE (Concordia). The rambler had good bones but had not been updated since it was built in the 1950's and was falling into disrepair. I heard that Pratt and Larson had a great selection of tile and good service - and that it was locally owned, so I decided to start there. I was very happy that I did! Not only did I get help with balancing the desire to ""honor"" the original style of the Rambler with my own personal more Modern tastes, but I was able to get all the tile and granite countertops (for both my bath and kitchen) for a price that was in my budget. This took some work and a very patient Pratt and Larson staff person who helped me figure out not only what I wanted - but what I could afford.\r I would recommend Pratt and Larson to anyone doing a remodel and will go back when I get around to finishing off my basement and adding a second bath!\r Pros: Positive, thoughtful, and creative service an great products more

Fantastic selection and helpful folks 3/18/2010

Just finished a kitchen remodel with tile from Pratt & Larson and couldn't have been happier with the experience and the results. I had a vague idea of what I wanted going in - a mood mostly - and the sales folks were great at guiding me to different options that would help bring it to life. We could not have done it without them and wouldn't even consider doing another tile project without them! Pros: Knowledgeable staff who are good problem solvers more

Amazing creative tile ideas 3/18/2010

I have been working with Pratt & Larson for 17 years and have been impressed with the quality and detail since I started. The showroom is full of great idea boards as well as an area to create your own ideas. The outlet store is a fun place to do project ideas. I Love the fact that they are always innovating...new tiles are released every year, you can go back and see new designs on a regular basis. It is a fun place to shop. Pros: Ability to do almost anything more

Nice business to work with! 3/17/2010

I've used Pratt and Larson tile in two of my houses in both the bath and kitchen. I've had great experiences with the staff at the main location as well as the warehouse. Recently they've been kind enough to help me with school projects. I feel lucky to have such a great resource in my town. Thanks! Pros: Beautiful product and supportive of their community. Cons: Didn't experience any. more

Great tile, smart and fun staff 3/9/2010

Had great experiences with the folks at Pratt and Larson for both a kitchen and bathroom remodel. In addition to the acres of incredibly beautiful tile of all shapes, sizes and textures (I could spend hours in there) the sales staff knew their product and were extremely helpful in helping us problem solve, leading us to great decisions that we have appreciated every day we set foot in our new kitchen and bathroom. We had some very specific ideas and some very vague ones and they helped us pull it all together in ways we wouldn’t have imagined. Pros: Selection, knowledge of product more

Incredible selection of cool tile! 3/9/2010

I've been going to Pratt & Larson for 20 years, and for me, they are the leader in ceramics showrooms for Portland, hands down. I've had excellent service over those many years and especially appreciate the effort taken to work with my generally smaller budget projects. They truly have a candy store of beautiful tile work. They can get very busy on weekends so go early or try weekdays. If you are really on a tight budget they usually have great bargains in their 'seconds' warehouse on Water Ave. Pros: Vast and comprehensive selection, Knowledgeable Staff more

One of the best tile showrooms in Portland! 11/5/2009

I have been designing in the portland area since 1987 and have had wonderful experiences with the staff and products of Pratt and Larson. Their products and showroom are innovative and up to date, their staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I have specified and used their products for years. I highly recommend Pratt and Larson!!!! Pros: Friendly, Innovative and Creative tile showroom more

Snooty and unhelpful 11/15/2008

Customer service is a shambles here; very snooty staff who seem to have no interest in assisting anyone. Witnessed several members of staff being very flip with customers. Experienced the same thing after waiting forever to speak with a sales person who was condescending and could not answer our questions. A total pain and a waste of time. more

Worst customer service ever 3/20/2008

I walked in the store ready to spend $4,000 on tile and the store associates did not have the courtesy to even say hi. They sat at their computers eating their sandwiches, which apparently was more important to them than helping their customers. more
