The Schaumburg area has an overabundance of choices when it comes to restaurants and hang out spots. But, Prairie Rock Brewery serves up some great American cuisine in the western...

Have been there before. Food has always been average to above average with good service. Understand it was Mother's Day but service was below average. Waitress was serving over...

THEY CLOSED! 3/4/2007

Don't go there! It closed!! I was there a week ago and called yesterday for reservations...no big deal, they took them. So we drive all the way over there only to find out it is all closed up! The number now goes to the Elgin location - how stupid is it that they don't tell you when they answer the phone. Pros: yeah...none Cons: closed doors!! more

Will not go back---see review 1/7/2007

Our party of 7 came with 3 Entertainment Coupons. The manager would only accept one. According to the rules of the Entertainment Book, a coupon for two with a maximum of three coupons per table. It does not say less than three may be accepted. It reads that three coupons can be used. No other restauarant in the book has ever refused three. If we had been allowed the three, it would have been a one time deal and we would have come back again with no coupons. Therefore, we will not be back and we will tell our friends who use the book. Also, my daughter was there a few months ago, and two coupons for four people were used. Too bad the management does not know how to keep customers. Pros: food ok Cons: bad management more

Not very good 11/23/2006

The service is so/so. You really have to flag someone down to ask about seating. The bands they pick generally don't draw a crowd so it's kind of a boring place to listen to really loud not so good music. We've gone back time and time again and it's at least consistant in those aspects. We've found that we generally only like sitting outside on the patio & even then it's iffy to get served. We usually just go inside and order since the waitress is never around. Pros: Nice outside firepit more

Average to Sub-Average 7/26/2006

When we walked in, we thought this place looked cool -- like an old train station. Then we noticed the air conditioner wasn't working, and I've heard since from several people that it is often broken (one friend sweated through an uncomfortable reception here). The sampler appetizer was half and half: we loved the coconut shrimp and unique sauce, plus the artichoke dip was very good. However, the grilled chicken was rubbery, the honey-mustard was bad and the crab cakes were average. The brews were okay, but watery tasting and a little bland (and we had ordered the darker brews). I had the asian chicken salad, and it was just average. The service left something to be desired, and the waiter had no clue as to the ingredients of my salad. All in all, I've enjoyed meals at places like Ruby Tuesdays even more than this place. I recommend the Ram for better brews and better food (and air conditioning). Pros: Large Dining Space, Table-Top Kegs Cons: Weak Brews, Non-Memorable Food more

Mother's Day Brunch 5/15/2006

Have been there before. Food has always been average to above average with good service. Understand it was Mother's Day but service was below average. Waitress was serving over 10 tables with 4+ people at each. Buffet food was cold by the time you got it back to your table. Food looked as though it was prepared the night before. Syrup in a pre-packaged plastic container added class. I've had better quality on Amtrak. Tried to charge us an extra adult for a 9 month old. Charged us 18% gratuity for 4 people and a $21.00 service charge. This may be the last time we go. Very disappointed. more

Great Place! 3/5/2006

I went to Prairie Rock with a group of friends on Saturday night and we had the best time. The spinach artichoke dip is a must. It is served with warm pita ""chips"" and it is sooo good. Our server was very friendly and really good and suggesting what beers we should try (all of which were delicious). After we had dinner we moved upstairs to listen to the live band for awhile. I hope we make it back again soon, and I can't wait for it to get warm so the patio opens up! Pros: Live Music on Weekend, Great Beer, Unique Atmosphere more

Wait Long? 10/19/2005

I went to Prairie Rock in the summer because they had an outdoor section. Not only did we wait 20 minutes, we then got informed that the patio was seat yourself. So we look outside- and all the remaining tables are dirty. So we sit at a dirty table, and try to flag anyone down to get it cleaned off and get menus. We wait another 10/15 minutes- finally another table shows us where the dirty dishes go-because they bussed their table too! So it was a nice night, we stayed regardless of all this to finally get a server after we had been waiting 20ish minutes-one server had the entire patio (like 8-10 tables) and this server was not doing well. Overall the food was ok, the drinks were over priced and the service was horrible. Pros: patio Cons: Horrible Service more

Great place in the Burbs 8/17/2005

A great place with great beer. They usually have a cover band on Fridays and Saturdays and the food and beer is resonably priced. Check out the Vanilla Ale if you go, its great if you like a sweet tasting beer. I like to sit in the upstairs or the lower level by the bar if possible. The regular dining room can be a bit cramped. more

LOVE THE ROCK 6/22/2003

Prairie Rock is a great restaurant. The selection of microwbrews has something for every taste in beer, with seasonals on tap all the time. A few of the entrees are sub par, but the steaks, appetizers, and the french onion soup is out of this world. The spinach artichoke dip and vanilla cream ale make it worth the trip. Service is great. I had one bad server there but the next one more than made up for it, as has every other one since. Music up in the loft is a nice touch, but they could use bigger tvs in the bar. Pros: Reasonable prices, friendly staff, great beer Cons: small bar, some of the bands more

Not bad, not great either... 11/18/2002

The food here is pretty mixed. The entree's were terrible and a few of us had upset tummys afterwards. However, the appetizers were terrific, I suggest the avocado/spinach dip and the cheese soup... both were fantastic. Nice atmosphere and the staff is reasonably pleasant. Make sure you try one of their microbrews, the vanilla ale might be worth the trip. The loft was nice to have a drink in and catch some live music, although could be a bit bigger. Pros: Great Microbrews, Great Appetizers, Cozy "loft" Cons: little expensive, Entrees are bad more
