Powerhouse Gym

A great facility. Classes are excellent. Dedicated certified & skilled personal trainers. A variety of equipment . The facility is clean, the atmosphere is friendly & inviting. Managment & saff are wonderful , helpful and friendly. Truly exceeded my expectation! Heartfelt thanks to all. more

This gym is a scam. While they do have a wide variety of machines, the customer service is absolutely terrible. An unauthorized payment was taken from my checking account and when I called to explain that I had paid in cash at the gym just the prior day I was told that it was too late in the billing cycle and the unauthorized payment would be applied to the next month. After cancelling my membership at this gym, a staff member named Tim called me and offered me two free months for the inconvenience. I told him I would call him back and let him know but never contacted him. Two months later, ANOTHER unauthorized payment was taken out of my account, three months after I cancelled my membership. When I finally got ahold of a staff member (after a solid week of getting the runaround and being refused when I asked for the owner's information so I could speak with him), I was called back and reamed out for making the staff member out to be a liar. Come to find out, he felt like since I didn't call him back and tell him I wasn't interested in the two free months, he assumed I wanted to continue my membership. He was very unprofessional, said he ""couldn't believe I was making such a big deal over 30 bucks"" and ""didn't appreciate me implying that he was a liar."" After I told him I was calling corporate, all of a sudden he was going to call someone to straighten things out and 'call me right back.' When he called me back, I was told that since I didn't take advantage of the two free months I was offered, this was the reason why a payment was taken out of my account for February...TWO months later!!! Stay away from this gym. The staff is rude, incompetent and will rip you off with a straight face. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BANK ACCOUNT OR DEBIT CARD INFORMATION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!! more

I consider T a good friend. she's amazing at the front desk. Never make you feel like she isn't thrilled to see you. Great place! Hope to see you soon. more

The best feature is the early hours that the gym is available. I can only work out between 5 am - 6:30 am. It would be great if Powerhouse offered towel service. I had that available at another facility which was great for members. Also programs offering nutrition/diet would be nice. more

I don't have any complaints about this gym and would recommend it to my friends because since I've been a member I've lost 12lb! more

The trainers explained to me how to use some of the equipment and free weights that I don't have knowledge of using, it was very helpful! more

It's nice to know that they just didn't want my money. They even gave me a good deal because I'm a student. more

I've been a member here for 3+ months at this point and I'm very happy about the facilities. There are always plenty of machines open and very rarely any of them are broken down. more

I recently joined Powerhouse Ypsilanti. At first I wasn't sure how much I would actually use it but my experience has been great so far. At first I was a little intimidated on joining and being surrounded by muscle heads, but that isn't the case at all. Everyone is very nice and I even got two personal training sessions for free when I signed up. The trainers showed me how to use some of the equipment and free weights that I typically would not have used. The staff is very nice and motivating. They even call and follow up to make sure im enjoying everything and to make sure that im in using my membership. It's nice to know that they just didn't want my money, but for me to actually get in shape. They even gave me a good deal because I'm a student at emu. I don't have any complaints about this gym so far, and would highly recommend it since becoming a member I have lost 12lb more

Not everybody that works there are rude. Management and the MOST of the trainers are rude as hell. The cashiers and some of the trainers are pretty cool. I'm a member, it's nice but it is a little more expensive then some places around in the area. It's has great hours, the equipment is new and 9 times out of 10 you don't have to wait to use anything. It has a nice vibe to it and it has a wide range of machines. The workout sessions and events are cool too. The restrooms are clean too, that is a plus. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. The head of PT treated me like I was an idiot-despite my experience here being pretty poor-he still blamed it all on me. I wish there was another gym in the area to use b/c I would be moving so fast it isn't even funny. Won't be using their over-priced personal trainers though-almost $65 an hour!! More expensive than Vie fitness in downtown AA. Ridiculous place that thinks their way is the ONLY way to get fit. Pros: new Cons: rude PT staff, rude staff in general, horrible management more
