I received a letter from Dr Nicholson 5/24/2012

I received a letter from Dr Nicholson stating that I had written a bad review about him and his clinic. This was not true I never did such a thing. My cat was treated by him and he did an ok job for a local vet. He overcharged a return visit but that was taken care of. I was told by him that while he was on vacation a vet I knew was covering, this was not true but the vet that did cover was extremely knowledgeable so no complaints about her. My complaint is with Dr Nicholoson and his letter telling me to take my cat elsewhere ( by the way he charged me $25 for tech to give injection, $5 disposal fee for needle and $ 20 return visit fee that he said he would wave after paying the week before $198 for a routine physical and rabies shot) They told me my cat was fat ( 10 pounds ) and to feed him diet food, he is an ACTIVE 2 year old and quite long. I do not see where he is fat ALEX, you said he should weigh between 9 and 11 pounds how much more between does it get? Then they told me I had to give distemper shot even though it made my cat ill last year ( I have found out that this is not true and I did NOT have to give this shot to my cat. ) They wanted to do blood tests when cat was sick when he was showing signs of an obstruction, I had to ask for x-ray first, I never saw x-rays that were taken but had faith in what dr nicholson said was there. so I never questioned his knowledge just his UN professionalism. Would I return to him ? Never I do not like being tolerated as a customer. I am not the cat in room one. I am a pet owner who is here for a visit/consult whatever.... more

Highly recommended! 4/15/2012

Since the vet hospital changed owners I have been constantly pleased by the service and care from Post Road! The new doctor (Dr. Nicholson) is very experienced and friendly, and I feel the staff really does care about my pet. They always take the time to answer my questions and have even given me specific info tailored for my kitty's health concerns for me to take home. The other nice thing is that they always have a printed estimate of what they recommend for each visit. Before I get to the front desk to pay, I know where I stand financially. I really recommend this vet. I have been very pleased with the visits since the new doctor, and my kitty loves him too! more

Nickel and Dime 4/4/2012

Well after this past visit, not sure if we want to take our animal back to this place. They are more concerned with the all mighty buck than the pet itself. Because of a reaction our pet had the last time it got rabies and distemper, the DR said come back in two weeks and we will do the second shot and I wont charge you for a visit, so we did. Upon check out, not only did they want to us to pay for 'tech time', they charged a $5 fee just to dispose of a needle. Then they refused to take the 'tech time' off the bill, when we were only expecting to be charged for the shot. At the end, they were like fine, we will take the fee off but you should also take the pets records with you ! Really? Like I said, 'the all mighty buck'.. no wonder this place changes personnel.... more

Quality Care 3/1/2012

I just had to relate my experience with this animal hospital. Dr. Nicholson is awesome. He listens, answers any questions asked and is extremely knowledgable. He is a truly caring individual who really cares about the animals he tends to and their owners. The staff is also extremely caring and knowledgable. I would recommend Post Road Veterinary Hospital to anyone who wants top notch care for their pets. This is truly a great veterinary hospital. more

New Owner, New Experience: Quality medicine! 1/8/2012

I have had multiple good experiences with this vet, as contrasted with the previous reviewer. It should be noted that the ownership, and veterinarian, at Post Road has recently CHANGED. There is now one veterinarian (so you don't need to worry about seeing a different vet each time you bring your pet in), and he is both knowledgeable and personable. I have brought multiple animals to Post Road and have been impressed with the ability of the vet to make the diagnosis and administer treatment. Additionally, the entire staff makes you feel at home. I am currently in veterinary school and I have worked as a veterinary technician for about 5 years now, and the care and service that I received at PRVH has met my every expectation. more

Extremely Poor Care!!! 12/24/2010

We brought our cat into the practice numerous times and dropped a lot of money just to find out (from a credible vet) that our cat had health problems (tumors and a heart issue) that should have been noticed by at least one of the vets at Post Road. The new vet that we went to see, shortly after Post Road, did a physical and found problems that needed to be addressed immediately: our new vet was mystified as to why the issues were not noticed by the prior vets. When I spoke to Post Road, their response was that they either ""just missed the issues with our cat"" or they did not exist at the time they did two separate physicals. The health issues had been brewing for a long time and they should have been discovered right away by the vets at Post Road, according to our new vet. Our cat's health issues did not occur overnight! As a pet owner, What do you think? I think this is totally unacceptable care. Every time we brought our animal in, we saw a different vet. They were quick to take our credit card; however, they did not offer to help me after I notified them that they had missed major health problems that were discovered by another vet (within minutes of the physical and right in front of me). The new vet actually let me feel the tumors that were easily detectable on my cat but totally missed at Post Road. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this practice. In summary, the reasons to stay away from Post Road are: -totally inadequate care -the practice does not assign one vet to your pet so you will get different answers to your pet's health concerns,, from different vets, at each visit -they are very pricey, compared to the vet we see now -they were unwilling to compensate me for totally inadequate care (once I brought it to their attention) So, don't even consider this practice if you care about your pet's health. more
