What a View! 1/14/2006

Located high atop the Portland skyline, the Portland City Grill is the place to dine on fine food and enjoy the ambiance of the City of Roses. The menu reflects items and prices that reflect the nature of those who appreciate fine dinning. Spending a few hundred dollars for dinner is common (I've done that twice now for different occasions) However, if you're willing to start slowly and work your way up to the dinning experience, then try the lounge located directly outside of the dining area. Dark wood, beautiful people and breathtaking views allows for intimate surrounds as well the place to be seen after work. more

nice! 9/9/2005

The key to this really nice restuant is to go during happy hour. I would call for the time. They have really cheap food, like $2-$3 per plate. its kinda small portions, so usually we order quiet a few. They proabley have 15 different things to choose from. Go check it out. more

Great taste with a view 8/1/2005

The Portland City Grill has an outstanding view of the city. There are no bad tables in this place, each one has a view of the city. Not to be outdone by the view the food is to-die-for! I highly recommend ordering the made-to-order chocolate chip cookies for dessert. It's well worth the 20 minute wait. The service is spectacular. The wait staff is sure to keep your water glass from going empty let alone any beverage you have at your table. more

You know you want to go, so go! 6/28/2005

Get here early to secure a table if you plan to sit at the bar. Be prepared to get aggressive about seating if you're running a little late. This place fills up quickly. There is often a piano man playing or belting out a Sinatra tune. He's also willing to play you're song for a yip if he knows it... City Grill's an outstanding place to take people who are in Portland for the first time because the views of the city are amazing. The staff is on top of their game and the drinks are stiff. Though this place is spendy, I feel as though I always get my moneys worth. They also have a very lovely happy hour. more

Who says it's lonely at the top 6/23/2005

The constant stream of people flowing in and out of the top story wide-windowed Portland City Grill ensure that no bottom goes cold, and no seat goes lonely for more than about 5 seconds. This can make table fetching a complicated and strategic matter; most cool their heels at the bar, jumping at the first sign of a dinner check. It makes for a lively atmosphere and the view of Portland, rain or shine, is stunning. Window seats are as coveted as a chocolate bar at fat camp, so don’t count on getting one unless you get there extremely early, or you operate under your own personal gaggle of lucky stars. Glass or no glass, though, there really isn’t a bad seat in the place, and in all honesty, you are not there to look out the window. Go at happy hour; the food is amazing. (Calamari, avocado/papaya stack, tereaki, sushi…. all at prices that would make McDonald’s value menu wretch with envy). The mixed drinks run at about 7 dollars and are as sophisticated as the clientele: revelers decked out in evening dresses and designer jeans, and the host and staff wear tuxedoes. Yet the occasional Portland yuppie in flip-flops and microbrew is not out of place, and the staff is extremely hospitable. Defiantly make this picturesque hotspot a stop on your happy hour tour of Portland. more
