Best

We had a great experience I'm surprised to be the first 5 star review. The food and the service was wonderful, I will go back.

Worst

This restaurant is absurdly overprice for what you get. I don't mind spending money on a good meal, but I...

Although the food is more or less ok, the service is generally poor. The last time we were there we sat 20 minutes waiting for service (even attempting to flag down someone as the kids were hungry). We finally got up and left without ever having seen a waiter -- not even water got delivered to the table! No one even asked why we were leaving. Needless to say, we won't be back. more

I would describe myself as a moderate foodie. Mojitos from bar small and mediocre. (mint not muddled) Appetizer jamon croquettes was the best item i had but you had to kinda stretch to taste the jamon. Sea bass extremely salty. Husbands grouper lacked any taste. Service mildly lacking. Water glass kept full. It took a long time (?45 min) to receive entree after appetizers were done. We were told there was an error in kitchen but no compensation was offered. I would have forgiven the error if the food was good. There are a lot better places to go for your money. more

I always like what I order here. The ceviche is pretty good and the braised short ribs were very tender. Love sitting outside too more

Been coming to this place for over 3 years and have yet to have a bad experience here. I've ordered everything from the tuna, huevos por fin, and just about every entree on the menu and have not had one bad word to say about this place. The building is absolutely beautiful and whenever I have someone in town, I have to take them to this place. Do yourself a favor - go if you haven't been. For first-timers, I would suggest the Huevos Pro Fin to start, then either the Beef Shortribs (Costillas de Res) or the Filet, which is smooth and buttery. Also, their specials are always a good option as well. For dessert, the Crema Catalana (Spanish version of Creme Brulee) or the Apple Dome Tart are outstanding. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Also, you can either eat upstairs where the bar is, outside on the patio or balcony, or downstairs in the dining room. Eating outside is excellent, but only if it isn't too hot outside. more

Been a fan of Por Fin from the first day. My husband and I go, at least, once a week and the food is always the same; tasty and expertly prepared. Service is hit and miss but, with food like this, it can be overlooked. The small portions are a great idea and we wish many other restaurants would copy.\r Spanish restaurants are very popular right now but none can compare to Por Fin. more

A little loud but the taste of the food and the servicce made the experience worth it. This is a place to go over and over and re-discover the flavors of every dish. For sure the flourless chocolate souffle is a must. more

The food was really good. We had the lamb chops, they were amazing and for dessert had the torrijas that were out of this world. THe place is beautiful fit for any occasion. I would definitely recommend! more

My wife and I had dinner there on a Saturday night. The first time we have been there. We liked everything about the place. The service and the food was great. Huevros (sp) por fin was something everyone should try. We will go back and would recommend it to anyone without question more

mixed feeling..... 11/1/2009

I was there this afternoon and my first impression was ""WOW"" this place is spectacular!!! the location is great, there is plenty of parking on the street as well as the garage directly next door. The ambiance is wonderful, relaxed and comfortable, the lighting sets the mood for a perfect meal..... your expectations of this place is so high from the first impression that it almost saddens me to say that what came next does not do this place justice.... I've dine out quite a lot, and having a Chef at home makes me a bit spoiled gastronomically speaking....For me a restaurant is a good as the bread they serve. Por Fin's (""homemade freshly baked"") bread was hard, chewy and on the bland side, the only plus to this was the pimiento dipping sauce. I ordered that patatas bravas and the bunuelos Bacalao and Piquillos appetizers....porbably the highlight of the meal...up until this point the services was good until I decided to order a drink.....It took the bar tender like 25 minutes to get me a soda, (I was one of 3 sitting by the bar area) going back to the appetizers: The piquillos were perfectly roasted with just the right amount of sherry vinegar and oil... the patatas bravas were nicely browned and the sauces that it came with made them addicting!!! My 4 year old daughter could not stop eating them so I had to order seconds....the bunuelo Bacalao was average in every sense nothing spectacular but not bad either.....the servers were young inexperienced kids trying hard to do their best, but as I said, they lack experience so I did not hold that against them.....I also ordered a ceasar salad with I must say was the worst I have ever had....I can buy ceasar dressing at the supermaket that has more flavour than Por Fins....The lettuce was soggy probably because it was not spin dried and way overdressed.....then came the main course.....by now I was debating on whether I should order or stick to appetizers....but I decided to give them one last chance to make it all better....Well, they didn't make it better...my food came 35 minutes later and although the place looked neat and appetizing, the taste was again a bit dissapointing. My 4 year old order Salmon and Couscous and I got the chicken Caprese....The fish was cooked nicely, slightly seared and still moist, it was seasoned perfectly and the cous cous was ice cold (as in refrigerator cold) and a bit on the sweet side. My daughter loved the fish and the sauce it came with but left the couscous untouched (given that she loves cous cous since her daddy makes it for her at home). My chicken caprese came with a GIANT baked potato that resemble Mount Vesuvious erupting with wilted spinach and melted cheese.....The chicken was cooked perfectly as well....I was so full by then I decided to take it to go and feed it to the hubby.....(he's thought it was decent, nothing to rave about) I skipped dessert. Overall, it was just ok some things were good others not so great....Great appetizers, needs service improvement, Main courses could be better......I guess we'll give it another try....but, I'm hoping for crusty bread next time......... Pros: beautiful restaurant Cons: needs to live up to the hipe more

Poor, Por Fin 2/22/2009

It is very uncommon that I am moved to take the time to comment on a dining experience. It either has to be very good or very bad. Our recent experience at Por Fin recently unfortunately falls into the latter category. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Food, service more

Great Evening 11/8/2008

I was hesistant to try Por Fin after reading the previous reviews, however another couple chose it for dinner for the four of us. The service was great, we were seated right away and the waitress was very attendant the entire meal. All the appetizers sounded so great we had trouble choosing, we chose the tuna tartare, bunuelos de bacalao, carpacio and the coca de caprese (recommended by the waitress). The carpacio was okay (i've had better) but the rest were excellent, especially the coca de caprese - it was like nothing i have had before. We all had the grouper or the seabass and shared one order of the porcini rissotto - we were all very happy with our meals and the portion sizes. But desert was the best part of the night - the waitress recommended the torrija (it was like a light, airy and creamy bread pudding), a perfect end to a great evening. more

Service was fine. 11/4/2008

I stopped by with a group to celebrate a birthday on a Monday night. The service was fine and the appertizers were good. But my main dish, the rice seafood dish, left me dissatisfied. Very litte rice and less seafood for a very significant price. That fact is unfortunate; the place is nice but I do not think the business will last. I certainly will not try my luck a second time. I suspect others have come and left feeling the same way. more
