Poor Richards is new to us. The service is fantastic, and everything on the menu is awesome, and prepared just right. All employees are very good at their job, however, the host...

Taking my business elsewhere. 2/20/2015

They've seen the last of me. I had been a fairly regular customer for years. Always asked for ice water to drink, and added a packet of "Crystal Lite", which I always carry in my shirt pocket. Today - 2/20/2015 - they charged me for a lemonade, bringing my ticket total from its 'usual' $8.00 to about $10.50. When I pointed out what I thought must have been an innocent error - I was told that they charge for a lemonade - even if I made my own from their (otherwise normally free) ice water. Taking my business elsewhere from this day forward. rmd Frisco, TX more

A Plano Favorite 2/11/2011

Good: Service, patrons, environment.. Bad: Portion sizes are getting a bit on the skimpy side.. Improvements: Increase the portion sizes and remain price competitive.. Other: I've been coming here for nearly twenty years. This is still a solid bargain in Plano. Great breakfast and lunch!. more

Great meal 6/30/2010

I searched the internet for a good place to meet friends from out of town. I wanted something different then the usual places to eat. I came across Poor Richard's and decided to try it. Everyone was pleased with the choice and the variety of food on the menu. We ate in a great atmosphere and did not feel rushed to leave. The tables were further apart then any chain restaurant which was great for conversation at our table. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great family place to eat. more

Amazing dining experience 5/11/2009

Good: We liked everything about the place. When we walked in, it was busy and everyone was smiling. It set the mood for a happy and relaxed meal time.. Other: We were amazed to see the servers using handheld computers. This is a very down home place serving comfort food. The high tech ordering system was a surprise to see such sophistication here. Our order was turned into the kitchen before our server even stepped away from the table. We were amazed.. more

Great Food Great Value 1/26/2009

My wife and I love this place. Our breakfasts are always perfectly cooked with plenty of food on the plate. The Mexicali Eggs scrambled eggs with cheddar and salsa is one of my favorites. We always get excellent service from the friendly staff who have been there for years. They make us feel like family. Breakfast and lunch entrees average $6-$8. Not bad in this economy. Busy place but they seat you in 5-10 minutes. Lunch is very good especially their home cooked daily specials like Chicken and Dumplings and Fried Chicken. You get meat and 3 vegs. for about $6.50 We like bringing in our family and friends to see their immediate reaction to how good the food is. The waitstaff use handheld pda's to take your order right at your table. The food almost comes out instantly within 10-15 minutes. more

CHEAP FOOD 10/25/2005

They have a huge menu and the prices are great! There is down home cookin' like chicken fried steak, meatloaf and fried catfish. Go for breakfast and order some tasty frensh toast, eggs benedict, or an omelet. The portions are huge and service is great. This is the place to go for some comfort food so keep this one in mind! more

Really good down home cooking 8/28/2005

All I can say is YUMMY! This is a wonderful place to go for breakfast if you want some down home cooking and lots and lots of food. The only down side is that this place only takes cash which when I went, left me in a bind. They were kind enough to let me leave and come back with the cash. Very trusting and nice people and the food is like grandma use to make it. Very good prices as well. more

Poor Richard's Cafe - Plano 8/18/2005

Poor Richard's does a great, down-home breakfast. It gets very crowded on the weekends though, so be prepared to wait. It's a small restaurant that gets loud during those peak times, but the small-town feel and good food will keep you coming back. Their combo brekfasts are the best, where you get a little something of everything. And the coffee's pretty good, too. more
