DO NOT MOVE IN!!!!! 5/2/2011

I moved into The Pointe at Harden Ranch in June of 2009 and it was the worst decision I have ever made. At first the staff was very nice and friendly, but not for long. I moved from Sacramento and only had 2 days to do all my moving. I saw an apartment about 2 weeks earlier and was told that I would get one just like it but without updated cabinets. However, when I get there to sign the lease and move in, the apartment was horrible. The carpets were stained and the cabinets were crooked. I asked for a different apartment and I got one, however it had not been deep cleaned yet. It was an emergency so I moved in. I was told I would get a walk through and a copy of my lease when I came back from vacation at the end of June. When I came back, no one would do a walk through with me, so I took pictures, and my lease was no where to be found. Every time I called to ask questions or get something fixed no one returned my calls. When it came time to move out, I gave my 30 days notice for the date I wrote down as the end of my lease. No Response from them. I moved out and asked for a walk through. No Response. Now I owe over $1000 in late rent, bills, and cleaning fees which i did not receive a letter or bill about. When I went to talk to them, they found a lease with someone else's signature and a later lease expiration date. They dropped some of the fees but a year later I'm still fighting them. It was a horrible experience. more

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! 12/28/2010

There are SO many reasons not to live here. Just a few: 1. A staff that consistently blames others for their mistakes. Case in point: not being able to pay online through ""computer error,"" yet requiring ALL tenants to do so; notices constantly put on our door accusing us of various things (putting tarps on our balcony, graffiti in the pool area, parking, late payments) that had nothing to do with us (a ""new girl"" put up the notices). Most recently, and my personal favorite, is a leaky roof. Any time there's a heavy storm, our roof leaks. I have reported this to the office 5 times over the course of a year. To their credit, they fixed one of the leaks after the third time I complained. However, every time I went in there, it was the fault of ""a company in Arizona that remodeled the roofs last year, but they're coming next weekend to fix it."" Well, it's not fixed. Again. And I can't wait to hear their next excuse. 2. Constant rent increases. Our rent went from $1240 (already too much to be paying for such a small apartment in such a bad part of town) to $1295, WITHOUT pet rent that we have to pay every month in addition to a large deposit. When they treat us like criminals but will readily acknowledge that they have prostitution rings running out of the complex, and we can walk outside and watch drug deals go down, they really need to reconsider their rates. 3. Did I mention the apartments are small? There's no dining area; although they claim there's a ""breakfast bar;"" if you want to have any kind of living room, there goes that idea. There's very, very little cabinet space in the kitchen, and our ""upstairs bedroom"" can't really function as any such thing because there's no door! 4. They claim it's a gated community, but 80% of the time one or both gates don't work. Also, anyone can just walk in, and they do. Most weekends I see at least one person going through the garbage. I don't feel safe taking my dog out to the bathroom for five minutes! This place is ABSOLUTELY terrible, and we can't wait to move out of this dump. It's really getting to the point where I want to sit outside the front office and beg people not to move here, they'll only regret it later. more

HORRIBLE 12/2/2009

This place is horrible I am so excited to be done with the tranquil shithole. Do not live here. I wish I would have read the reviews before moving in. The only nice people were the grounds people. The front desk ladies are so rude and disgusting. I guess I would hate my life too if I worked here. It must be in there job description to be a bitch all the time. I hate this place! Worst place ever 1/16/2009

Me and my wife moved in almost 5 years ago. When we first moved in they had a great manager, but he said when he leaves expect trouble. Well shortly afterwards he did leave, and boy was there trouble. Not once did they contact us about replacing the carpet, as stated by law. Police were almost a permnant fixture. And if we were a day late with the rent, they did not call. They came banging on the door. And when we ask why they did not call they would say ""Oh you have not given us the phone number."" Which we knew was a lie. And when we needed a repair we would call them, but get no answer on the phone. And when we did get someone on the phone I would ask that they send someone who could speak english. And they would send someone who could speak a single word. And then the people who worked in the office treated the place as their own little barrio. And here is the reason why me and my wife left there. They started selling off the Apts. And when we were 2 days out of lease they decide to evict us. I can not recommend this place. A homeless shelter is better then this place. Pros: Nice at first. Cons: Lousy staff, crime, lousy neighbors. more

Absolutely atrocious! 6/8/2007

I'm a professional who moved to the area about 9 months ago. I thought I would save some money by living in Salinas and this place looked great when I first visited. My lease is about to expire and I cannot wait to move. The police were outside again tonight breaking up yet another fight. Somebody else called them tonight but I have called them 3 times in the past 2 months for fights and suspicious activity. There are security gates at the complex but they are usually broken and people from the surrounding area wander through, rummaging through the dumpsters and hanging out at the pools. The workout room is never cleaned and is heavily vandalized by the groups of teen thugs who hang out in there. The office staff is extremely rude and unresponsive. Maintenance staff have entered my apartment many times with out letting me know. My apartment was flooded in November from the apartment upstairs and it was never fully repaired. I often read these reviews and think the people who post them are just whiners but this is truly the worst apartment experience I have ever had. Do not move here! Pros: Monterey is only half an hour away. Cons: The rude staff, noisy cars and neighbors, dirty facilities, unrepaired vandalism, exposure to criminal elements, constantly broken security gates, and general unsafe environment. more

Horrible Managment, Unwilling to meet with Renter 5/7/2007

This has been the worst rental experience of my life. \r -Maintenance people entered our apartment MULTIPLE times, without any warning nor without our consent.\r -Rental Agents are slow to help, with the exception of signing a new contract. \r -Multiple ""improvements"" were done to the building without any notice, i.e. loud power washers, painters, roofers.\r -Agents seem to take complaints personally and respond in a rude manner.\r -Charged us a $100 cleaning fee after we moved out. I spent 15 hours cleaning the apt. It was cleaner than when I moved in.\r -They advertised the amenity of a gym and pool, but they are only open during weekday business hours. \r -Cigarette smoke entered our apartment from other apartments. \r -Shoddy repairs--Holes in the ceiling and closet doors were patched with painters tape and paint. Door casings were broken and glued back on, ""new"" carpeting was poorly installed and we kept being injured by articles underneath the carpet. \r -I also lived near addicts and/or dealers. Police officers and Firefighters have visited the complex many times. Not a safe area.\r Do not rent from this company--even if you were as desperate to find housing as I was. Pay attention to the negative reviews. You will save yourself a lot of stress, hassle and money.\r Pros: One assigned parking spot, pets allowed Cons: Crime, horrible and uncarring management, no place for children to play more
