How we feel about a mechanic is the same about a veterinarian, when you fine a good one you stay with them forever. \r We had a veterinarian that retired and he sold his practice to another vet.. This other vet has no bedside manner, and as we were spoiled with our previous vet. we felt this other vet was money hungry and we were turned into just a number. It seemed as if each time we went to this vet he was always in a rush for some reason. Then we found a new veterinarian in his practice by the name of Nicole Longo Dvm, She was sweet and caring, she was always available to answer any question we had about our pets. She cared for our pets as we do. \r When we had a emergency two years ago with our yorkie she waited for us treated our yorkie as if he was hers. She referred us to a 24 hr Vet Hospital and kept in touch with us trough out his hospital stay and attended to his aftercare. She continued checking up on his care until the crises was over. \r Now that she has moved to Pleasant Plains Animal Hospital, we followed her. Now we are very happy about this move even though its now twenty-five miles away. This new office is to me what a veterinarians office should be. Professional, with state of the art equipment,Clean, Caring, Compassionate, Courteous. \r They not only treat the patient but they treat the family at the same time. If you don’t understand something they will try to explain it to you various ways until you understand. We now feel that we are not only visiting the veterinarian but we are visiting friends and family.\r more

I've been taking my cat with cancer to PPAH for the last couple of months, and the staff is just wonderful. Both Dr. Longo and Dr. Meleleo treat him with care and compassion. They are making a very tough time for both me and my cat a little bit easier. Their rates are also fair for both visits and medications. Appointments are easy to get too. I highly recommend PPAH. more

When we decided to get a puppy I chose to book an appointment at Pleasant Plains Animal Hospital because it looked so clean from outside. The inside is immaculate as well. Dr. Meleleo and his staff have taken wonderful care of our lab, Arizona! We have been back and forth to the vet numerous times because unfortunately she has been sick with an infection since we got her. Dr. Meleleo and his staff answer all our questions and are very professional. Dr. Meleleo is a wonderful Doctor who loves animals and cares for the families they belong too. The staff always make time for you and your pet! I highly recommend using Pleasant Plains Animal Hospital!! more

Simply the best... 3/5/2012

Our dog Peanut became a patient at Pleasant Plains Animal Hospital in September 2011, she came in for her annual check-up and I was immediately impressed by the cleanliness of the office and the state of the art equipment. Dr. Meleleo and the vet tech staff are equally amazing, they are gentle, and patient with nervous owners and most importantly Peanut is always happy to see them. In late February peanut started acting funny and ended up being diagnosed with diabetes. We could not be happier with the care and attention Dr. Meleleo and his team provide. From one on one education about delivering insulin shots and obtaining blood glucose readings to simple diet advice Dr. Meleleo makes every effort to be available to us, by phone or email. Additionally the online pet portal is great for tracking vaccinations, etc. If you are looking for a fantastic and caring Vet for your pet, you have come to the right place, you will not be disappointed. more

Do not hesitate to take your pet to Dr. Meleleo! 1/27/2012

My two year old rescued Yorkie/Bichon was back and forth to various Veterinarians for lethargy, lack of appetite and vomiting. My husband and I remembered Dr. Maleleo who worked at Bay Street Animal Hospital. We called there, and it was no surprise to us that they had no idea where he was. We found out that he opened the Pleasant Plains Animal Hospital, and although it is quite a distance from our house, we brought our dog there. Through a simple blood test we found out that Baci's liver was not functioning properly. Dr. Meleleo put him on supplements and vitamin enriched food. Baci was back to his old self almost immediately. I am so thankful that we tracked Dr. Meleleo down because a few years ago, my sisters's rescued Yorkie had to be put down at three years old due to liver failure. Dr. Meleleo explained in detail the illness and the treatment. He even draws diagrams, if need be. In the past, at other Veterinarian offices I felt that I was being charged unnecessarily for tests that were not needed. Do not hesitate to use Dr. Meleleo. He is kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and he has an immaculate, state of the art facility, with a friendly caring staff. more

Kind and Caring 1/4/2012

I recently changed vet's after using the same office for 25 years. Dr Meleleleo has been very kind and caring. He explains all that is being doen and lays out all options. He also lets you know what something will cost and an alternative. His office is immaculate. He seems to really enjoy being with the animals. Also he seems very knowledgeable and professional. I am very happy with the care we have received thus far. more

Very happy pet owner 12/22/2011

I recently adopted a 12 week old puppy named Jake from a shelter. A couple of days later, he becam sick. Knowing that I would be adopting, I began interviewing veteranarians to find the right one for our newest family member. I wanted somewhere that had state-of-the-art technology, highly trained doctor and staff, extensive office hours and most improtantly, I needed to feel comfortable with the doctor who would be treating Jake. Well, I found that in Dr. Meleleo and Pleasant Plains Animal Hospital in Tottenville.\r Dr. Meleleo, immediately knew what was wrong with Jake and pescribed the necessary medicine. Less than a week later he was his old self, jumping and playing and HEALTHY. We are very grateful to Dr. Meleleo and the staff at PPAH. \r Based on our experience, we would happily recommend PPAH to all of our friends who need timely and professional care for that special pet in your life. more

Great Experience at This Vet 12/14/2011

My Chihuahua is usually pretty skittish but Dr. Meleleo had such a calming way about him and my dog was amazingly calm, even while getting his vaccinations. The office is very clean and the staff is super friendly. I would recommend this veterinarian to anyone. more
