I went to a few reputable places in the East Bay Area to get an idea of what I can get for my jewelry. Then I went to these guys. Right away the guy started treating me rudely. He...

Out of 5 places Pleasant Hill Jewelry was highest 2/18/2011

I don't know what the above is all about. They have CC County weights and measures certified scales, and they weigh your gold right in front of you. Not like the other shops I went to: they took my gold into a back room to weigh it! Shady! more

Warning.... 12/14/2010

This is my first time going and won't be back. The place was very busy which is good, the employees seemed professional, but the service and prices were not. I had two rings appraised by two well known companies in the Los Gatos/Saratoga areas and they both came up with almost the same amount of value. I've been shopping around to see what the best price I could get for them so I tried this place( I bowl in this area). They weighed the rings (total with stones) and came up almost 5 grams short of what the other companies stated the rings weighed not including the stones!!! If you ever have a good appraisal they will give you the weight of the rings/jewelry total, and break it down minus the weight of the total carats of the stones and gold, etc. One of my rings has over 2 1/2 carats of white saphires and was appraised at just over $1000 and gold was trading at $1227 at the time. Yesterday, gold was at $1393, and they offered me $400 for both rings--the other ring appraised for $975. He said they would just remove the stones and melt the gold down--we're talking about diamonds and saphires which they gave me no value on!!! They only offer 70% of gold value, but make sure you get your jewelry weighed at a reputable store before going here--no joke they came up over 5 grams short on the spot weighing and they were INCLUDING the weight of the stones. So really, they were more along the lines of 7-9 grams short--NEVER GOING BACK! more

Pleasant Hill Coin & Jewelry is average 6/13/2009

I actually found a pair of diamond stud earrings here that were such a good deal. The staff is a bit quiet and not overly friendly, but I was on a mission and did not care. more

Decent place to go... 10/29/2005

I used to go here every so often when I needed supplies for my coin collecting. They weren't always the most outgoing of employees, but had what I needed. Now, I just get it on the internet, as this place wasn't that inviting, and seemed to me to focus more on pawning jewelry and such more so than a coin collecting shop. more
