Absolutely agree with hotow (below). Avoid this place at all costs. I was in there when an Australian was taken for the 'Tax'. He negotiated a deal price which was inclusive of tax - and when he got his credit card slip the dodgy owner had included tax and charged an extra $220 to the price. All of this happened while I was waiting for my watch to have band put on it. I had to run to the 'watchmaker' - a term i use loosely - to retrieve my watch before it disappeared into the enormous black hole. If you have any doubts, do as hotow says. Just stand there for about 20 minutes and witness for yourself the customers who come pounding on this guys door for overdue repairs or other dodgy dealings. Heaps of places to buy watches in NYC - find somewhere else.... more

These guys are straight-up crooks. If you don't believe it, hang around the store for 15 minutes and listen to the people calling and coming in demanding their money or their watches back. I had to go to the local police precinct to make a complaint before I got my watch back. I had asked them to give me an estimate on a repair, and it took me more than a month to get it back. \r \r Buyer beware. The positive ""reviews"" here are fake. more

Essence of collectible!! I have been there to store many times and i am a regular customer of them. First time when i went i wondered the store is setup but its actual essence of collectible pieces. Great Deal I heard about Plaza from one of their Ads in one of the magazines. I was looking to get my wife a 5ct Round Diamond ring. They showed me one in beautiful quality that appraised for $125,000.00 which I purchased for $45,000.00. I know this was a great deal because I went looking at Tiffany & Co. prior to shopping there and their similar rings and similar quality was all between $100.00 and $2000.00! My wife loved the ring. more

RINGS AND CUFFLINKS EXPERIENCE These guys have good collection of rings and cufflinks. I am very thankful to my friend that he referred me to buy rings for my wife and cufflinks for me. My name is Nelson, I was recommended to Plaza by a friend. I came in looking to purchase men?s Rolex diamond presidential watch and trade in my old stainless steel sport model. After spending a little time with two of the sales people both of which were helpful and very knowledgeable. They made me an offer that I could not refuse and I purchased the gold Rolex presidential watch with diamonds that I wanted for myself and trade in my old stainless steel sport model plus they gave me a lady's gold diamond presidential watch for my wife. I was supposed to go to the concert to Carnegie Hall with my wife. Due to the fact we arrived earlier we decided to walk around and walked into the Plaza out of the curiosity. We were amazed by their inventory. It seemed they had everything there: watches, baseball cards, sports memorabilia? While I was standing there staring at the spots items my wife picked an expensive ring that she absolutely loved. I wasn?t ready to spend a lot of money but the owner gave me a great discount. I just couldn?t miss this offer. So be very careful while walking in the store with your wife, she will definitely find something that she likes there : ))) more

ALL VARIETY OF SERVICES IN ONE ROOF-UNBELIEVABLE I just walked through the street and I found the store. I was tourist in new York . I got surprised with the old collectible items. They provide Appraisals, buy sell, repair, trade in, coins, stamps, watches, pocket watches jewelry, sport items, appraiser Wall street Journal, rated #1 Time out New York, etc. These guys are great. The other guy at the end of the street had a wait time of 4 days for my Rolex repair and battery change. These guys did it in 1 hour and the watch was handed over to me. While I was waiting Lee the owner used his salesmanship and sold me an additional Patek Philippe which I was looking for at different places and online but it was not available....He had it right there....Impeccable service.....great guys to do business with. more

My name is Mathew. My father turned 70 recently and I wanted to make a special gift for him. He used to have a Rolex watch that was stolen from him a year ago. I new he loved the watch a lot and couldn?t find anything to replace it. The watch was old and it was hard for me to find the same one. Likely, my friend told me that they were in Plaza recently and it was an amazing choice of antique watches there. I was able to find the watch that was very similar to the one my father used to have, except the color of the strap was different, but the salesperson told me that they will be able the replace the strap on anyone I like and also advised to make an engraving on the back of the watch. What a great idea! I picked the watch with a new strap and engraving in 2 days. The watch looked perfect. My father loved the present. more

Largest Selection of Watches Ever - 30 years of experience!!! They said the have over 25,000 watches!! and if you look around you believe them!! I looked at their Omega watches. They showed me over 1,000 Omega watches!! Do you understand, over 1,000 just Omega watches! I didn't there are that many in the whole New York City! They has styles and models I never new ever existed! They were all in perfect condition including many old ones from the 1920's. Everything they sell is guaranteed. Their prices are quite good and they buy and take trade ins. They also have an expert appraiser on staff. I bought and Omega and a vintage Rolex for less the expected to pay just for the Omega!! They have the largest selection of watches I have ever seen! They say they have over 20,000 watches and if you look around you will believe it. I looked around for about 1 hour. I came back the next day and bought a Breitling and a Patek Phillipe watch. The price I figured was about half the retail price which was really fair. While I was there, the place was really busy, they were buying and selling everything! The purchased an Andy Warhol painting and a signed Babe Ruth baseball. They also sold and Abraham Lincoln letter and appraised a collection of original World Series rings! One of the other clients was saying he was there when James Bond (Daniel Craig) bought a couple of watches there a few weeks ago!! It's really a wild place and sometimes crazy busy, but you will always get a really good deal. They also buy anything and I thing they pay very fair prices. Overall I would state the following: The selection is the largest in the world. The prices are excellent. The place especially when crowed is a little small. The items are not that organized. The experts are sometimes busy, but when available will answer any questions you will have. They do go out of their way to try to make you happy. First time I ever walked in I thought this was a cool NY landmark kind of shop. Now I have to agree with the rest of the negative reviews... run. I had a personal dispute with them about a $50 deposit for a watch. They did nothing they said they were going to do as far as contact me about the watch. I pity anyone who is having issues of a more substantial amount. For anyone who doubts look at their BBB record. Don't worry about customer service, there is none. This place is run by folks looking to hustle any one who walks in there. It goes beyond unethical to down right illegal. Don't worry though they'll love to show you the pictures of celebrities that have walked in there. more

After they steal your stuff, they won't give it back until you go to the police and make a criminal complaint. The owner has already been in jail once, and he doesn't want to go back. If you doubt that they're all crooks, just hang around the store for 20 minutes and listen to the people who come in or call looking for their missing watches or ""checks"" supposedly in the mail. more

Check the better business bureau for validation. Numerous complaints, just make sure you look up the right business has the store has various different names. more

this is a great place for sports stuff. I was actually looking. For older bats and they had a bunch! Pus I bought some balls as well that were missing from my collection. I think I will take a look at their card the next ti me I go. more
