Great Store! 5/3/2009

Me and my wife recently moved to Wayne, and came to plaza lighting after spending hours shopping on line, and visiting a few other local stores. Not only is this store jam packed with lights, the staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable. The girl who helped us out (I think her name was Lauren) helped us pickout lights for our kitchen, and bathroom. We ended up buying 2 lights from their display, and ordering 3 others. Not only did they beat the prices we found online, our order only took 4 days to come in! Once our lights came in, they sent out a great electrican to install everyting. Overall we had a fantastic experience shopping at this store, and will be going back soon to buy some fans. Pros: HUGE Selection more

HORROR SHOW! 8/9/2008

Absolutely horrible experience in every way and still not resolved. We were promised by David( who is supposedly one of the owners), and I mean assured, that the fixture would be delivered within 10 business days. We were very clear that we needed it within that time frame and we would not purchase it without that assurance. That was 2 months ago. In the meantime, he is impossible to track down on the phone. When we came in the store to get a hold of him, the two nice "gentleman" always tell us is it will be another 2 weeks, maybe, but unconfirmed. Throughout all of this, not a single word of apology, but just smug arrogance. Incredibly rude all around. They do not care about anything other than getting you to pay. If something can take 2 months, then they should disclose that and not promise otherwise. And if it does happen, the least I expect is a phone call and an apology and an explanation. Then, they propose that we pick something else out - more than twice the price of the original fixture of course. At this point, we both decided to cancel the wall sconce and pendant- to my pleasant surprise we could not cancel the order due to the fact that these fixtures are custom. What a liar!! We have a hole in the wall and cannot settle up with our contractor as we wait for this ridiculous store to deliver what they promised so wholeheartedly 2 months ago. My experience was terrific 8/4/2008

My review tips the scale in the opposite direction as the previous poster, which I guess is understandable since everyone can have a bad experience at one point or another. As a patron of Plaza Lighting for about 10 years since my wife and I moved to Wayne, NJ from New York City I can only say good things about the owners and their knowledgeable staff. First off, as someone who knows absolutely nothing about lighting fixtures, quality, or installation I found the staff to be extremely helpful in listening to my questions and answering them with thoughtful and insightful suggestions. I even had Lou (or Luis?) come to our house for their consultation service, and it was free. I have used them several times to help me measure and recommend lighting. Most recently we have done a renovation in our kitchen, and the fixtures we got from Plaza Lighting were beautiful. Not to mention we get compliments all the time, deffinetly a plus! The fixtures took about 4 weeks to come in, which we understand is typical of the industry in this economic climate. I really think that being harsh on retailers for shipping delays is rude, especially when a family owned business like this is trying hard to accomodate everyone. I highly recommend this store to anyone looking for a personal touch in an otherwise corporate, cold, and commision-motivated sales environment. Awful Customer Service! 11/11/2007

Plaza is officilally the worst place I have ever bought a light fixture from. I have an interior design firm and we do tons of lighting purchases. They had a particualr high end fixture the client wanted so I went ahead and purchased it from Plaza. WHAT A MISTAKE! I worked with Dave, who iniitally was very responsive right up until we paid for the fixture. He swore up and down that the fixture would arrive at their store in 1 week then shipping would take another week. Well the fixture arrived in a week to their store, but he forgot to send it out to the client. I called and he said they would ship it out that day. A week later the fixture still had not left. I left meesages for him, none of them returned, called the store and waited on hold for more then 45 minutes only to be disconnected. Finally some sales associate felt sorry for me and expedited the fixture. The fixture arrived damaged and trying to get someone to call me back has been a trial. I have left emails, voicemails and yet no one has contacted me. I will never, ever do business with Plaza Lighting again. I strongly encourage everyone else to do the same. We understand delays in logistics, however a few phone calls would have alleviated any hard feeliings. Plaza just opted to avoid us. Pros: None Cons: Customer service is awful, reliability is terrible, not honest, not trustworthy more
