Today, just like another day, I went shopping to the shop. I am a regular costumer in Plato?s Closet and also the shop next door since I like to search for branded jeans. Sometimes, Plato?s Closet sells new and branded jeans such as True Religion and Rock & Republic. That day, I found two pairs of jeans with the two brands. As I was paying in the cashier, using my American Express as usual, the cashier asked me for my ID. I gave my driver license that I always show them every time I go shopping in that place. To my surprise and embarrassment, the cashier did not want to receive my ID. My name in the driver license is my maiden name because I got it long before I married my husband; while my American Express is in my name with my husband?s last name instead of my real name. However, my full name is still shown in both cards, the difference is only that the American Express contains my husband?s last name. She rudely told me that she could not receive the card since my driver license does not have my husband?s last name. I explained to her that that was not my first time shopping there, and that I never experienced any embarrassment like that. Then, came another cash register, who more rudely than the first register, question me (or more of commanding me) to change my last name into my husband?s. I tried to explain once again but they insisted, and then came another cash register. The three of them rudely questioned me and suspected me to have conducted a fraud. They insisted that that was the store policy. My biggest question is that if that is the policy, why didn?t they apply the policy when I frequently shopped before? They embarrassed me in front of many customers who were queuing behind me. Their reason was not acceptable. What was even worse, not a single person of the three employees apologized to me! What kind of policy is that? Can the employees there treat their valuable customers more politely? In the end, I still bought the two pairs of jeans. I shouldn?t have bought them. But, I promised myself never to go to the place again. I am a regular customer there, now, they will lose me and probably more valuable customers especially if they never change their attitude towards their customers. Really, Plato?s Closet employees need more and better training on how to manage the store and treat the customers politely. Remember, customers are kings.
