rental car mentality 12/17/2011

Like on Seinfeld, they can take a reservation but they can't keep a reservation. Made reservations for a 65th birthday dinner five days in advance for 11 people incl 1 highchair. 24 hours before the dinner I get a call telling us we can be accommodated if we come a half hour earlier and are out in 90 minutes or are split up between tables and booth. A nice way to celebrate a 65th with a family. Their untimely cancellation of the confirmed reservation caused us to scramble calling 12 other restaurants before we could find an opening. Had to cancel the flower delivery and redirect.\r They did say they were sorry, however.\r Ate there often but guess a more important customer got our reservation.\r A suggestion --have individuals who answer the phone for reservations knowledgeable of the seating capabilities and the reservations already booked.\r I will say they were very pleasant as they destroyed the birthday party. We are eating at another location in O'fallon.\r Moving on now, not going ba more

Blah.... 2/14/2011

We recently had dinner at Pio's, what a disappointment on many items. We started with the "stuffed mushrooms", which turned out to be what seemed like "stove top stuffing balls", deepfried.\r \r The pasta sauce was blah, the meatballs were blah and the chicken bianco unedible. The bianco sause could have been used to hang wallpaper, it was that bad.\r \r Pizza was good and the only bright spot of the entire meal. more

what can I say about Pio's? 10/30/2010

I live about 3 blocks from Pio's. Took my wife, son and 83 year old mother there on Friday, Nov 31, 2010. Service was great. I had the white sauce pasta with sea food. I ate about 1/2 and had the rest taken away. It is rare I don't eat everything on my plate. When the waitress asked my wife how she liked the salad, she said "Not very good, it is mostly ice burg and nothing else." The waitress asked if she wanted a cup of vegetable soup. She had the soup which both of agreed was good. Food was nothing to write home about and I won't be going back. more

Overrated 3/16/2010

I have been here three times now, hoping my previous visits were flukes. The food is so-so. Pizza sauce tastes like plain tomato sauce. Salads are nothing to rave about. Reading the older reviews I wonder what has changed in the past few years? Pros: location Cons: nothing special about it more

Classy 11/18/2008

This is the place we go to for Fathers day, Mothers day, Birthdays . . you name it. It's very nice. It's a little pricey, but worth it. They have delicious Italian food. more

A hometown place 9/18/2006

My dad grew up in St. Charles, and always recounts his nights at Pios, meeting with "the guys" to share a pizza and some pop. Now they have expanded and we visit as a family. The food is good, the atmosphere friendly, and your waiter is often one of the family owners. Many times when we are there people are celebrating in large groups for a baptism, graduation, etc. My cousins rented the rooms upstairs for a first communion party, and everything was great! They had a buffet of appetizers and pizza along with a cash bar outside the room. I would consider using this place for a party or just a Friday night dinner. more

Bleu Cheese Dressing! 7/3/2006

If you love bleu cheese dressing, GO TO PIO'S! Makes for a great salad! Real bleu cheese topped on a delicious creamy dressing! more

Find it to be overrated by the local folks. Very old, unkept looking. As for Italian, well the sauce is more like FrancoAmerican. Pizza is definately St. Louis style, not my style! more

Good Pizza 10/8/2005

The pizza was great (if you like thin crust). My boyfriend loves the veal parmesian...its breaded veal with a red sauce. I would not recommend the lassagna...it was very bland. The ambience is nice and its a great date place if you are older. The service was pretty good...we got our food pretty fast and the prices are average. Overall a good, family owned restaurant. more

Pio's Restaurant is #1 6/6/2004

Pio's Restaurant is a landmark in St. Charles. Pio's was my parents' favorite restaurant, and now thirty years later, it's my favorite. The food is wonderful and a good value. The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant, and the service is terrific. Pros: Pleasant Atmosphere, Excellent Service, Good Food more

Pio's 5/28/2004

Pio's is one of my favorite places to eat at. I think it's one of the city's hidden treasures. The food and service are excellent and it's a great alternative to the everyday "chain" restaurants. The atmosphere is intimate and you can actually sit and have a conversations without having to yell across the table. The staff is always friendly and helpful as well. The best thing on the menu is the pizza. It's a family recipe that is wonderful! Pros: good portion sizes, family oriented, quiet atmosphere more

Great Pizza 5/20/2004

Pios' has one of the best St. Louis style Pizza's!! It is always has fresh ingredients, great sauce, great blend of cheeses, and a crispy crust! Pros: great pizza, family oriented, great value more

pink and Pio's 8/14/2002

Whenever my husband blunders I look at him and say, "pink and Pio's" which is code for pink roses and dinner at Pio's. Pio's is a family owned restaurant which is easily felt in the atomsphere. In the 10 years I have been going there I have never had bad service or food. I would highly encourage you to have the shrimp cocktail and peppered tenderloin for two with the baked potato with all the fixings they have a wonderful seasoned sour cream and a salad. your in luck if you like bleu cheese dressing it's fresh and the bleu cheese is piled high. I encourage you enjoy one of st. louis' great secrets. Pros: reasonable price, large variety, any occassion more
