STAY AWAY FROM PIONEER GAS!!\r \r 1.) THEY DO NOT OPEN ON TIME. \r -I mean how many times do you really need to call your gas company? Not often. But when you do, it's usually an emergency. And most of the time, it's when they're closed. So you wait until they open at 8:30am to call, but nobody gets there to turn the phones on and start the business day until 8:50-9:00am... that's bad business. \r \r 2.) THEY'RE RUDE AND CONDESCENDING. \r -Being in the business of providing gas to families to HEAT their homes, you should ALWAYS be polite and understanding with the customer. ""It is incidentally YOUR customer Pioneer!"" So having rude people work for and represent the company... that's bad business. \r \r 3.) THEY CHARGE $223 FOR EMERGENCY TRIPS. \r -Pay attention... this is important. Pioneer claims that their prices are so cheap because they're only in your town ONCE a week! ""WHAT?!?!"" So if you EVER need them to come out on ANY other day than the ONE day they come to your town, you'll be charged. That's not only ridiculous, but not fair to the customer... that's bad business. \r \r 4.) THEY LIED... TWICE!!!\r -By far, my biggest reason for switching. This time, I was told that the closest driver to my town was far away, and that I had to PREPAY the emergency fee to have them come right away. They opened late that day as usual, so this was shortly after 9am. I paid in advance and asked for them to come as soon as possible. I STILL DIDN'T HAVE HEAT WHEN I GOT HOME AT 6:30pm!!! I called the answering service (because the office was now closed) and they sent a guy out right away. He was there within 20 minutes. The driver was very apologetic. He said, ""I wish I knew... I was in the NEXT TOWN OVER ALL DAY!"" \r \r So I pre-paid their exorbitant fee AND I pre-paid for 100 gallons of fuel, and they never sent anyone... that's bad business!!!\r \r I bought my house with a tank from Pioneer already on the property, so I had no chance to choose a company... but I DO NOW. \r \r EVERYONE in my life has told me to go with RURAL GAS. So again...\r \r ...STAY AWAY FROM PIONEER GAS!! more

Absolutely horrible!! We had a propane tank installed for a new gas stove. It took 3 times for the thing to pass inspection, and we were never notified of the failures. I had to call them to find out why the stove was still not hooked up, only to find that it failed inspection. Once it finally passed it took another week to get a technician out to hook up the stove. Then two weeks later a leak was noticed. I called and it took 2 days to get someone out to test the line. Apparently there was a leak, but I found out from our sider, NOT the gas company! I turned the gas back on assuming that since I had not heard from them there was no longer a problem. Then I found out the next day (from the sider) that a leak was found. Pioneer did not feel the need to notify me or schedule repair. When I called they tried to charge me $210 for a weekend emergency visit for a problem that they were aware of EARLY the day before. I opted to wait until Monday and in the meantime the connection hose came completely disconnected and was dumping propane into the air which we noticed when we opened the front door (the tank is on the back side of the house). I cannot believe how non-responsive they are to a gas leak!! And that they don't give a second thought to inconveniencing their customers! I haven't been able to use my stove for 5 days now but they don't care...unless I pay them $210 to fix a problem that they created!! more

Around 2:45 PM today (Wednesday, 6/12/2013) a Pioneer Gas and Appliances truck went speeding down the road I live on...I was on the street retrieving mail at the time and held my hands out (palms up) in a gesture as if to ask why the driver was going so fast...the only response I got was several quick horn ""toots"", which basically meant that the driver ""blew me off""...\r \r Just based on this incident I would never do business with this company... more

Not reliable 2/16/2013

I have used Pioneer Gas co. Since purchasing my home in 2006. We inherited them from the previous owners as the tank on the property is rented from them. The service has been way below par. I have run out of gas 5 times. Each time I call after running out I am told it will be anywheres from 3 to 7 days for the delivery! I have even asked that they decrease the expected usage days from 120 to 90 so I don't run out. I don't think they have done so at my request. The office staff is short and rude anytime I contact by phone and they tend to ignore me if I stop into the office. I have even inquired about a gage for the tank. I was told it wasn't an option. The prices have been all over and never seem to coincide with the markets. I am shopping for a new company with better customer service and honest pricing. more

No Excuse For What They're Doing to Me 11/24/2011

These people are horrid. They treat their customers like they're doing you a favor, at best. Right after hurricane Irene, I called in for propane. Power was out, had to go with the stove top for heating water, had no idea of how much propane I had, as there are no guages on these tanks. Have asked for a guage for three years. No response. They put me in as an "emergency" trip, though I did not ask for that. They charged me $185.00 for the "special trip" because I had more propane than I thought I had. I had NO WARNING that such a charge was even possible. Have called several times. Office staff anywhere from vague to downright snotty. Several messages left for owner to call back, no response. Several noticies that my tank is leaking, no response. I expect that they will take my tank, refuse to refund gas left in it. They've done this before, to other people. I expect that they will keep my deposit. Again, they have a history. Pros: null Cons: null more

Pioneer Gas - A friendly/family Company 4/22/2011

I just signed up with Pioneer Gas and they have been great. They came and brought our new tank when they said they would. They made a delivery when they said they would. Everyone that I have spoken to at the company are so friendly and helpful. I had so many questions and kept calling, they were always polite and helpfu and answered all of my questions. It is a great friendly company. more

Pioneer Gas - Incompetent and Unprofessional 1/26/2011

I called Pioneer and contracted with them to provide propane for a newly installed radiant floor heating system. I spoke to two different Pioneer representatives and both representatives promised me a delivery on a specific date/time. I told them if they could not make the agreed upon delivery date/time then please call me and let me know. Both times they did not show and no one contacted me to let me know that they were not coming. I am starting to question whether Pioneer is a real propane gas company or just a shell or front company for some other business purpose. I have always had oil as my main source for heat and none of the oil companies I have ever dealt with in the past and present have been this blantantly incompetent and unprofessional. more

Prices always changing ... 2/11/2010

I have been with Pioneer for over 4 years and Love their service, except their billing practices. They claim the price per gallon is rated on how much gas I use. Well I have 2 next door neighbors which we have the exact same style house and we've compared billing, but their price per gallon is way lower. While one them is paying $1.99 per gallon my recent bill was $3.21 per gallon ... After my complaint it was lower to $3.01 ... This is what really bothers me about this company. I like to be treated fairly and not abused. more

Gas and Appliances 12/11/2008

This company has been around a long time. They are always so courteous and helpful. Their store is small but they can get any appliance that you want if not in stock. They service what they sell and have reasonable prices. more
