When my mom and I went on a trip to L.A, the girl who worked at the front desk of our hotel recommended Pig N Whistle, so we decided to try it out. I'm so glad we did! This restau...

Cool and Trendy 12/7/2002

Good place for a large group of friends. Trendy and cool in the late hours. more

Awsome food and great vibe! 10/15/2002

This places has such a great, timeless vibe. I love to go for drinks and nosh on some of the tasty food. It is the ultimate place to start a night of Hollywood bar hopping. Meanwhile, the Bass Ale Battered Halibut Fish'n Chips are the best I've tasted, and the portions are abundant. I love the pig masks they give to kids--makes me wish I was a kid again, but then again, I have my Boddington's on tap. more

Feels like a Cool, Gothic New York Club 8/31/2002

We went to the recently remodeled Pig 'n Whistle last night for the first time and really enjoyed it. It had a really cool ambiance... really high gothic ceilings, giant half moon lounge seats, and enough space to move around. Watch out though - the drinks are really pricey! All in all, worth stopping through here if you are bar hopping in Hollywood. Pros: Ambiance Cons: Pricey more

Historic Hollywood & Highland 8/30/2002

To think that this used to be a shabby T-Shirt shop for so many years?! Beautifully restored setting that is a must see for any tourist interested in the Glory Days of Hollywood. As a local, it is a great spot to stop in for a beer or a bite and to see what is going on in my neighborhood. Highly recommended but could use a little tightening of its mission. The food is good but a bit pricey and could be skewed a bit towards more bar food to better suit the mood of the place. Once they fully work-out the kinks: a gem. Pros: Beautiful Interior, Historic Hollywood more

The pig that blew...Oink 6/27/2002

Great restoration of a Hollywood landmark...BUT the TV screens gave it a sports bar feel, Ditch the TV screens they ruin the ambience. Pros: architecture, architecture, architecture Cons: too sporty more

The bed menu was the worst experience ever, the food was terrible, service was ok. more

Dining nightmare 6/13/2002

Went to this restuarant with an invitation from one of the owners. I was glad to see an old Hollywood landmark restored to its former glory. I just wish the food, and service could have been as detailed and satisfying as the surrounding architecture was. The service is performed by help that is hoping to be discovered or can't be bothered with actually doing a good job, while they wait to be discovered. Pros: a lot of history, ambiance Cons: service, food, attitude more

not what I expected! 6/5/2002

With a name like ""Pig 'n Whistle"" I didn't have high expectations. I really enjoyed myself though! Good food, good service, and great Martini's! Pros: ambiance more

Beautiful 'n Empty 5/19/2002

No question that this is one of the more beautiful restaurants in Los Angeles. The Cathedralesque ceiling has been beautifully restored, along with the antique bar. The old aphorism, ""They don't make 'em like this anymore,"" definitely applies. Still, though, the atmosphere just doesn't match the space. The room is often half empty, and the crowd is largely itinerant--you'll almost never see a familiar face here. There are no regulars. The place just doesn't inspire that kind of loyalty, because the owners don't know what they want it to be. Pros: Beautiful space Cons: Atmosphere more
