Phenomenal service and great costumes 10/28/2008

I was just logging on to write a review about how nice my experience was with Pierre's Costumes. I could not let the previous poster's message sit without commenting on it. My friends and I were at Pierre's Costumes during this ""so called"" incident. It is funny how people see things in a different light. Nothing could be further from the truth. This lady was rude to the all of the staff. She monopolized their time for well over 20 minutes while talking loudly on her cellular phone. She was standing at the front counter and blocking access for other customers who were returning their rentals from the weekend, and was in the way for other customers who were trying to get their new rentals written up. As I heard it, this was all over her lack of understanding how credit card worked. Her problem was with her bank, not with Pierre's costumes. She was on the phone with her bank and was very loud and complaining throughout obviously wanting everyone to hear her. It was obvious that she wanted people to hear her and thought that this would get her what she wanted. The staff tried to help her, but as I head it, there was nothing they could do to help her with her bank and her credit card. Several staff member explained this to her over and over again. Not one staffer I observed yelled at her. I did see her husband come in as I was being written up. He had a baby in his arms. At this point she quieted down. Once he heard the story, he understood and they left.\r \r This was not the purpose of my post, but I felt that the record needed some balance. The previous poster had an agenda and an axe to grind. Pierre's Costumes did no wrong to her. She was abusive to them, asked for unreasonable things and is now taking it out on them.\r \r Anyway, My experience was awesome. Great helpful service, nice costume, and fair price. i could not have found it elsewhere.\r Pros: Educated staff that really care, staff that can are able to help you choose a great costume, huge variety, fair prices Cons: None I can think of more

THE WORST WORST WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE by none other than THE DESPICABLE OWNER 10/27/2008

My husband & I rented 2 pieces/$200 worth of costumes from this shop a couple of days ago. The shop is large & overwhelming. Most employees seem friendly though in a rush. As I was returning the items, I inquired about the $200 'deposit' which showed up as a charge on my online statement. The employee who was helping me out told me to go ahead & call the bank to sort it out. As I was making the call, the owner (an overweight guy with short light brown hair & greenish eyes) was clearly irritated. He was speaking at me about rules of banks as I was on the phone. As I proceeded to ask if someone would talk to the bank for a second to verify the $200 deposit, he refused ""I don't talk on someone else's cell phone"" adding ""how do I know who is on the other line?"". He then proceeded to tell me the bank can call his number if they want to talk & that I was taking up his counter space. I didn't know it was their policy to not help you get your $200 deposit back. As I was trying to explain, he continued being despicable to a customer who spent $200 at his shop, he called me a liar & told me to leave the shop. As my husband showed up the owner seemed to calm down a little but not before telling me 'to leave the counter'. It was beyond ridiculous! The man was mouthing off the entire time I was speaking to my husband & the bank rep. He actually clenched his jaw with anger & hostility, demanding that I get off the phone with the bank. The bank rep couldn't believe what he was hearing. Then he called the bank rep 'obviously an incapable bank representative.' The shop was not very busy as he was saying 'especially busy today'. In fact, it was virtually empty today 10/27/08 at 2.30pm. Regardless of circumstances, this is absolutely the wrong way to treat customers. Save yourself the trouble. I'll be letting my colleagues & the entire Kimmel center community know you should not buy nor rent costumes from this shop for Halloween concert or anything else. Let's go somewhere else! Pros: it's large? Cons: you can't pick your own costumes, despicable customer service, you get yelled at by the owner. more

Helpful friendly staff and awesome selection 10/21/2008

The staff are so friendly and helpful. They have so much stuff here that it is really hard to narrow things down to what to get. I knew I would be able to get something once I arrived, but the question was what. they were patient and worked with us even though we were clueless. I was really impressed with their knowledge and ability to stay cool under the crowds and clueless people in the shop. \r \r The two staffers that worked with us were both theatre college grads and it showed. They had very creative minds and were able to put together pretty unique outfits for us that we woudl not have been able to come up with ourselves. The prices are not rock bottom, but honestly they are reasonable. I would have spent more going to a party store or a thrift store and putting my own outfit together.\r \r They had extended Halloween hours and were open later than listed on this site (I don't remember exact times - call them). \r \r This place is enormous. They have so much stuff that you can find anything there. I really liked my visit there and will go back again. Pros: Nice staff, polite and helpful. Huge selection of costumes Cons: Hard to decide more

Awful...Rude and overpriced 10/15/2008

When my partner and I went in to get costumes for a party, we explained what we were looking for and were instructed to just ""look around"". Even though we were the only ones in the store, this manger-type told his employees that ""we were fine...and didn't need help"" when in fact we did! When one employee FINALLY was helping us put something together, this manger said ""we are closing on time, at 6""...it was 5:45 and we had been in there for half an hour! The price of the costumes we wanted to rent were very arbitrarily decided. This manager told us $75, but the manager who rung us up told us $50. No consistency on prices, very reluctant to help, not a single friendly face. Go someplace else...ANYPLACE else. Pros: good selection, if you can get them to help you look through it Cons: VERY rude, arbitrary prices, no creativity and a reluctance to interact with customers more

Will be coming back 12/14/2005

I had been asked to attended a charity event for my local hospital for individuals that had been hospitalized here before Christmas. I had order a Mrs. Claus costume from another company originally and they could not even find my order the Monday that I called them, so I called back on Tuesday and told the company not to even bother sending the costume because I could not wait for them and I had to go to another company for the suit. I needed the costume quickly and ended up ordering from Pierre's on Monday (I found the website by accident) The costume was a little pricey, but for the quality, service and my costume arrived undamaged and earlier than I thought, I think it was worth it. I wil be coming back to the online website for my next costume and I am recommending the same to my family. Pros: Excellent Service, Speedy Delivery, Excellent Quality Cons: A little pricey more

This place rocks 6/10/2005

They have everything there. I had such a hard time making my mind up last Halloween. I have stopped in several times for fake blood, wigs, and funny props and novelties. They sell and rent costumes, but I like renting costumes because the quality is really high end. They treat you well and create the look around your comments. If you can't find it there, you probably wont find it. Pros: service, selection, quality Cons: hard to decide what t, addictive, your friends get jeal more

Cretive, unique, awesome costumes! 1/18/2003

The theater director of my school has been using Pierre's Costumes for years! The prices are reasonable, the costumes are great, the people are helpful: what more can you ask for? The costumes they're provided have really made all of our theater events so much better. It's such a relief to know that every year we have a reliable souce for all of our needs! more

pricy chic 7/30/2002

I dragged my boyfriend to Pierre's when I decided that we needed killer costumes one year. We looked great-- I got a custom-made Cleopatra costume, and I got the guy to wear a Marc Antony Roman soldier get up! But heads up, this place will cost you. Each costume was $100, and although Halloween was on a Thursday, they wouldn't let us have the costumes for all the weekend parties we wanted to wear them to. For that price, I think they should give you at LEAST 3 days! more
