Review content:
My husband & I rented 2 pieces/$200 worth of costumes from this shop a couple of days ago. The shop is large & overwhelming. Most employees seem friendly though in a rush. As I was returning the items, I inquired about the $200 'deposit' which showed up as a charge on my online statement. The employee who was helping me out told me to go ahead & call the bank to sort it out. As I was making the call, the owner (an overweight guy with short light brown hair & greenish eyes) was clearly irritated. He was speaking at me about rules of banks as I was on the phone. As I proceeded to ask if someone would talk to the bank for a second to verify the $200 deposit, he refused ""I don't talk on someone else's cell phone"" adding ""how do I know who is on the other line?"". He then proceeded to tell me the bank can call his number if they want to talk & that I was taking up his counter space. I didn't know it was their policy to not help you get your $200 deposit back. As I was trying to explain, he continued being despicable to a customer who spent $200 at his shop, he called me a liar & told me to leave the shop. As my husband showed up the owner seemed to calm down a little but not before telling me 'to leave the counter'. It was beyond ridiculous! The man was mouthing off the entire time I was speaking to my husband & the bank rep. He actually clenched his jaw with anger & hostility, demanding that I get off the phone with the bank. The bank rep couldn't believe what he was hearing. Then he called the bank rep 'obviously an incapable bank representative.' The shop was not very busy as he was saying 'especially busy today'. In fact, it was virtually empty today 10/27/08 at 2.30pm. Regardless of circumstances, this is absolutely the wrong way to treat customers. Save yourself the trouble. I'll be letting my colleagues & the entire Kimmel center community know you should not buy nor rent costumes from this shop for Halloween concert or anything else. Let's go somewhere else! Pros: it's large? Cons: you can't pick your own costumes, despicable customer service, you get yelled at by the owner.
