Mediocre at Best 6/1/2009

I had one experience there and maybe I should have tried the Vietnamese dishes instead of the Japanese. The seasoning was not right for Japanese. The Flying Fish Roe sushi was not the bright iridescent color of the freshest Flying Fish Roe and the Yellow Fin Tuna did not stay together indicating it was not top quality either. The tuna for my Hibachi Tuna was done the way I like it: still pink in the middle and not all dried out, but the tuna steak itself was second quality. The Tempura Shrimp appetizer was oily, not light, but flavorful. The veggies were overdone, but not as bad as some other places I've tried. The soup and salad were non-descript. I may try them again for their other Southeast Asian items, but I will stay away from anything Japanese. I suggest you do the same. Subtract a half star from the rating above for my real rating. Pros: Let Me Get Back To You On That Cons: Pricey For What You Get more

IT HORRIBLE 12/8/2008

My Family and I love vietnamese and sushi so we going to try Pho Kimm88 What a waste of money. I see all the good review so I go to try it. I'm sorry i did what a horrible time I have. They food take forever my kids were going crazy cause it take too long. The price are extremly expensive then anywhere I been to and I use to live in VA. So if you want to try this place out think again. more

It is a WOW! to Pho Kim 88 restaurant. I am highly recommended people to come and try this little great place. Excellent foods and services. I hope Pho Kim 88 will soon expand another one. Sushi is excellent and Hibachi and Vietnamese foods are extremely wonderful as well. The staffs are very well dressed (in Pho Kim 88) uniforms, very impressed. The atsmophere is nice and warm and especially very CLEANED. No other Vietnamese restaurant in Pittsburgh can't compare to this place. ""I'm LOVIN It""...... Pros: Great Atmosphere!! more

To: Christmas65. You're CRAZY! You're make me MAD! Pho Kim 88 is the best restaurant and the price is fair and the food is SUPER GREAT! I ate here twice a week ever since they open and the food is always consistent. The service is always good and staffs EXTREMELY friendly. If you can afford to eat out and don't go and DON'T complaint, NOTHING is cheap now aday. Plus your meal order is Teriyaki Chicken: They included (Soup, Salad and Shrimp Tempura appetizers, along came with steam rice and Hibachi Veg w. chicken) you're dipping with their Special Shrimp/Steak sauces for your meal. Compared with NAkuma and Benihana, Mr. Christmas65 would pay $10+ for this order. Anyway, don't listen to Mr. Christmas65. You come and experience for yourself and you'll know what I mean. I am extremely HAPPY with Pho Kim 88. Oh Mr. Christmas65 don't use Credit Card if you affraid people are watching you. You should consider about that with your Credit card company. Do not Eat Here! 11/5/2008

Food is WAY overpriced and not good. $22 for Teriyaki ""Steak""... not even steak...... Service was ATROCIOUS! Never got our sushi - how hard is it to get RAW food??? Waitress never came to see how we were or get more drinks. Asked for soy sauce that never came. Bill was wrong - apps we ordered but never got were on there. Table next to us was not bussed for the whole time we were there. Do not go here and waste your money - unbeliveably overpriced and horrendous service. Cons: food and service more

Great recommendation by a friend. I really enjoyed the food and the service is excellent. My server, recommended me and my husband to tried the #11 (bo tai chanh), Royce roll, #23 bun bo hue (noodlesoup), and Spicy chicken w. fried rice. EXCELLENT!!!!!. The #11 is so FRESH and very tasty and a little too spicy for us, The sushi ROYCE roll is to die for. Since we don't eat Raw. This roll is completely cooked inside out. The #23 noodles soup is so hot when it arrived to the table, taste so good and the siding fresh with the beansprout, basil, lime and hot chili. The Hibachi ""Spicy Chicken"" w. fried rice so so GOOOD. The chicken is extremely tendered, the Fried rice is super tasty..it's not greassy at all. The sauces dipping along is completely Perfect. Everything is so WONDERFUL. Oh by the way also try their Avocado smoothies is so fresh and Yummy. We're really enjoyed this place so much. It is HOT in Castleshannon! Pho Kim 88 is the best...! I love this place. My god, the food is GOOD! The people work there are HOT and SUPER friendly. I love their Fresh Avocado and Mango smoothies. I love their new fresh REDSNAPPER salad. It's so good and very colorful decorated. The place is nice and warm atmosphere. Especially, very bright and cleaned. Thanks to my co-workers, highly recommended this place. I am definetly will go back. Pros: BYOB Cons: NOT SMOKING more

this resturant is the best in the south hills. it a great example of what a family resturant is all about. great service, great food, great astophmere. the food melts in your mouth and is alwys super clean. they always refill the drinks fast. your food comes out hot. and there is so much i can't always finish it. the fried rice is the best in pittsburgh. no make that the world!!! its always clean. i would go there every night if i could. make this your next stop! Pho Kim 88 has plenty of silverwares, Napkins and seating for you when you dine in. Pho Kim 88 has very friendly people, clean place, good food, great service, excellent sushi/habachi and pleanty of parking spaces for customers. My family and I are a very regular customers. We ate there at least once or twice a week. The food is always consistent. The service is always nice and friendly (they speak English very well). Anywhere else you go, when they're busy of course the service is always not too perfect at the moment. I highly recommended you to visit Pho Kim 88. By the way, I'm going there for dinner with my friends tonight. I have a very long lists wanted to order tonight! Pros: Plenty parking spaces Cons: Make Reservation on weekend more

Worst service in Pittsburgh 8/13/2008

My wife and I had dinner there tonight. The service was horrible. We were not given tableware or napkins when seated, when the order was taken, or when our appetizers were brought to us. I had to stand on line at the take out register for some time to get a napkin and a fork each. We asked for knives as well, but the hostess told us we didnt need them for the spring roll and to just hold it and eat it from our hands. We asked her for knives to be brought to us when the main meal was served. She didnt bring any. We asked the waiter for knives when he brought the main meal. He never brought any. No one stopped by to see if we needed more water, which I did. I had to go back up to the take out line to ask for one knife for my wife and I to share and one more glass of water. There was no compensatory reduction on the bill for the atrocious service. Pros: Food was OK Cons: Horrible service, costs about twice as much as most Asian restaurants more

Thanks Post-Gazette for a great Reviewed for Pho Kim 88. My family and I recently moved from Chicago to Pittsburgh, wanted to find a good Vietnamese restaurant to eat. We came to Pho Kim 88 by reading the Post-Gazette Reviewed. Pho Kim 88 definitely have the best Vietnamese food in town. Oh, by the way. The Sushi is so good. Also the Habachi Chicken is so MOIST and TASTY. Our family are extremely happy and enjoyed the foods so much. We will come back.............. Pros: Services, Parking B.Y.O.B and etc more

BRAVO! 7/3/2008

Today, I've a wonderful lunch at Pho Kim 88. The food is amazing. The place is packed, especially on a rainny day. The service is a little bit slow. But the food is so GOOD. I've tried Shrimp Lover roll on the sushi menu....it's to die for....so good. The place is very nice and cleaned, it's make the food and atmospher feel more enjoyed. The habachi chi, tasted so tender. EXCELLENT food. Pros: PLenty parking. Excellent FOOD! more

Delicious Vietnamese Food! 7/1/2008

I have Pho Kim 88 food since they opened. My buddies and I, always hang out there on the weekend. It's a B.Y.O.B. We're brought a bottle of wine and 12 packs of beer and then we enjoyed their wonderful delicious sushi and their Habachi. We're addicted to their food. The services are super friendly and the staffs are always nice and smiley. Don't forget to try their 88 roll, if you love ""Spicy Tuna"". Pros: Great services and Good Food! more

I am amazed this place really have Great food:). I never have ""PHO"" before, I tried #17 for the first tiime. It's amazing. It's chicken noodle soup, it's come with the siding of beansprout, basil, lime, hot chili and sauces. I didn't realized the hot chili was so HOT. I put it so much in my soup and I almost cried out because it's was so HOT......but it's so GOOD. My girlfriend have the Hibachi Shrimp, it's so wonderful and we also have sushi. The sushi is very good. The owner recommended us to try the Fresh Spring roll next time. we're really enjoyed here. We're highly recommended friends and family to try out.
